Banjo and Dixie both look like hot garbage, Geno looks great though. His is convincing enough, the other two look straight up awful however. I feel like the speaker having broken and weird english is just a ploy to make it seem more legitimate though, so, I'm not exactly believing any of this at the moment.

totally original assets are the absolute best case you can make for a REAL leak. I don't think we've seen this dixie and banjo anywhere, and definitely not the geno.

anyone can make fake menu leaks, it still takes a bit more effort to fake anything in-game or anything in 3D space that has depth

Part of me wants this to be real, so I'd be willing to write off the shit-looking model as just an awkward tween pose (which is nothing new for Smash, mid-animation freeze frames tend to always make the models look awkward and unflattering), but it's also true that I've seen leaks that turned out to be fake that looked more convincing then this.

I'm leaning on them being a 3DS mod with how bad the models are.

i think the most suspicious part of this leak is the fact that its called a "final build" I don't believe for a second we're only getting 3 more characters

The only time I can trust something as a leak at this point is if it's via a capture card.

I'd believe that they were in a situation where they couldnt reasonably take and upload screenshots

well, technically a (genuine) leaker might want to hide anything that could identify them and risk them being found out.

immediately looks fake lol you're also using a character that lacks fine detail and is thus easier to insert you can see a fine wood grain pattern on geno's body, and hair... grain? on dixie's ponytail. There's a lot more visual fidelity in the leaks than your joke fake to account for.

There was also a similar high quality fake leak for Ness and Jigglypuff on the 3DS before release, with similar quality original models. I know Ness and Jigglypuff are veterans (thus less difficult to get models for in theory), but the models I'm alluding to here had a lot of the minutiae/small touches down, despite being fake.

The best fake leak I've seen so far apart from the Rayman one was the one where people fucking built HD versions of 3DS stages and posted them on /v/. Apart from the bad art direction clash between characters and the stages with especially the colours, t looks better. But you aren't limited to anything when creating something like that.
