what throws people off is that young link himself cannot actually use hookshot or the bow n arrow in OOT IIRC so they kind of just ignored that for the sake of allowing him to copy link's moveset
Everyone's hyping up Skull Kid and I'm just sitting wondering if I'm the only one who even remembers Vaati was a thing.
I'm kinda hoping Impa shows up as a Sheik Echo too.
I have well over 100 amiibo (help)
Assuming this is true, and there isn't a daily limit, I can have pretty much almost the entire roster unlocked from the get go
i have every single smash amiibo with the new ones on pre-order
its tempting but damn it would be really lame to start out with everyone
Which is a damn shame because Majora's Mask is underrepresentated imo, especially compared to Ocarina of Time
Really odd for them to do this, but I guess they know that some people really doesn't care about unlocking the charcters and just want them from the get-go. It's optional but people are still complaining that this is "pay-2-win" when the amiibo dies nothing but unlock a character.
I like Vaati but he's nowhere near as memorable as Skull Kid and Vaati's powers in general are kind of ill defined. Like he's a dark wizard and he turns people into stone but the only thing I can really recall him doing is transforming into eyeball things and shooting energy orbs and that's it.
Being able to unlock your top favorite characters right away by using their amiibo is a pretty good idea actually.
I'm sure a lot of folks just want to jump into multiplayer on launch day and see how their mains have changed. This lets them do that, using an item they probably already had.
Oh boy I can unlock Kirby minute 1

here's your leaked roster guys make sure not to tell anyone about it 🤫
So here's a random question. Why does Vergeben have credibility again?
I keep seeing his name pop up and looked into it and his track record is mega-abysmal. I kinda feel like trusting him because he got easy guesses right is a mistake.
I will say, if the character unlocking through amiibo thing is accurate, the friends I play with are gonna be pretty psyched on launch

(Not including the starting roster of Ultimate, this is every SSBU character we played in serious 1v1s)
Here's some bad news for you: He's Capcom's design.
Like anything original in Oracles and Minish.
Why do we never see the Oracles/Goddesses designs anymore except Minish Cap? How come Vaati's human form never showed up again? Onox and Veran?
Why do you think ALBW designs looks so similar to Oracles without looking exactly like it? Irene is clearly Maple. Link was clearly designed after Oracle's younger incarnation w/o the collar and crazier hair.
Capcom got those designs on leach. Unless Nintendo gives them the ALBW makeover or creates something that looks like them, you can forget Vaati, Ralph, Ricky and the Subterreans entirely.
They're sadly gone.
I'd love to see Ninty get the concepts of those characters into a Zelda game. But yea. Don't count on anything that was touched by Capcom.
If Vaati were to get in I'd argue they'd need the support base like Geno, but sadly they weren't voted too much on in the ballot.
i think he's going a bit far with the stage play thing. it's just cartoon perspective (3/4 perspective? i forget the name), the same that's used in almost every single animation.
Sick, I can unlock my mains off the bat.
I would like SSB Ultimate's CSS menu to show the chosen fighter in the same way SSB 64 does it. Rotate the character when hovered over, then pose when selected.
If only more time was put into Melee's development, all fighters (including clones) could get that.
You mean the 3D animation they have in 64? Yeah tyat ain't gonna happen again, especially for 70+ characters.
If I recall, he leakd that TMNT were going to be in Injustice 2 and Geralt in Soul Calibur VI, and recently the Smash stuff that all fighter were going to be in it with Ridley, Simon Belmont and K. Rool.
His currect leak now is Ken (which there's actual proof of another street fighter rep in the direct), a second Square-Enix rep (Geno if true), and a 7th Gen Pokemon. Like always, take it with a grain of salt.
Read the goddamn thread title my dude
His best calls are all from Namco-Bandai origins, of which Smash is being developed by.
His most spotty game accuracy from there has been Soul Calibur, but at the same time, he listed a character named Groh as a newcomer for it and this was completely correct despite no character being named Groh in the series before. You can't just guess this. He also said Simon, Snake, ICs and Ridley would be in.
He isn't perfect by any means, but he definitely has at least one legitimate source he is in contact with still unless they were weeded out, which is what happened with Gematsu since it's typically standard once a leak occurs to dripfeed different false information to people to find out which incorrect thing is revealed to the net, of which the Chorus Men probably was a decoy and not an actual choice that was cut.
Rhythm Heaven had both internal code hints and surface level hints of being planned at some point.
On the surface, Rhythm Heaven is the one series besides Ice Climbers (who we know for a fact were also cut) to have enemy representation in Smash Run without having character representation. Internally there also was leftover data showing that Rhythm Heaven had a character emblem at some point.
As for why they got cut, my hunch is that they got cut for the same reason as the Ice Climbers: there's 3 of them. Maybe it was a limitation reason.
Everyone keeps using the same citation for Rhythm Heaven being a character from Source Gaming, but if you look closer, the series categories are all lumped together. The only reason they keep claiming this implies it's a character is because the four series beforehand and one series listed after have playable reps.
Here is the full list of series icons that is being referred to by them :

There is no pattern to the unused series here related to characters unless you're willing to believe that we'd also get Dr. Kawashima and an Electroplankton rep. Therefore, it can not be conclusively determined if a character or a stage was planned, as a Dr. Mario stage is the only scrapped stage data remaining in the game and no unused character data remains. Personally, I think a stage was far more likely based on the fact that several Rhythm Heaven songs were included and the fact that this ID list includes all stage series.
Personally, though I know there are people advocating for it, I don't really see a trio working to begin with because it would have a lot of visual noise whenever one is hit and the mechanics being keeping them together sounds unnecessarily convoluted compared to something more reasonable like Marshall, Karate Joe or the Wrestler, all of which are more popular in general (at least, Karate Joe and Marshall are).
