They're just so indistinguishable, I can't tell them apart. He's the one with the book, right?
Y'all are acting like FE characters 'robbed' your favorite character's chance of making it in, as if they put any thought into the limit of characters they'll add when we're almost at 80. If Sakurai and the fans both want a character, they're added. Every FE rep from Ike forward was a highly requested character (minus Corrin but they were a special exception because cross-promotion.) On top of that my man Sakurai just loves Fire Emblem and is showing his appreciation for it. And even from a gameplay perspective, if you think Marth/Roy/Ike play the same you're out of your mind. Making echo fighters for each of them (minus Ike until Black Knight is inevitably announced) makes perfect sense given that they're very popular in competitive.
It doesn't bother me that they're clones or even that they're from Fire Emblem, it's how they all look like generic anime characters. You can't look at my image above and tell me they don't all have the exact same face model with very minor differences, Chrom (and maaybe Robin) being the only one whose differences actually make him look like a different character. This is more about me being bothered by how the generic spiky haired anime boy/girl is dull and boring than feeling robbed of Smash characters
Guess Wolf is a Fox clone and Luigi is a Mario clone... Oh well, Fire Emblem has 5 characters and 2 echoes. One of those characters started as a clone, and ended up diverging. Two of those characters are quite unique (although Corrin could've done without a counter Down B). And then we have Marth and Ike, who have in common hair color. Oh, and Fire Emblem Heroes has made fucking four hundred million dollars. In a year, it has made 20% of the earnings Smash has made in 2 decades. And it seems to be making some 20 million per month. Shit is huge, specially in Japan.
i cant take it anymore someone explain the fucking alfonzo joke to me
I'm guessing Fire Emblem will get another character, but only because they lack a Villain, and that seems to be the big theme of Ultimate.
I'd do it myself but i'm busy, so i'll let alfonzo do it for me.
why did you post the same picture 3 times?
It's based on this post by Sakurai. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/107162/0f516789-092f-4528-979f-e1190c6be72d/image.png Couldn't find a bigger version but basically Alfonzo replaces Toon Link in the train if he was being played in the match. Cue snowball of edits.
People riffing on this Smash 4 Director's Room update. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Dg6MQCRV4AAxRsn.jpg Originally, Toon Link in his Spirit Tracks appearance is in charge of the train when he's not being played as, so before he was confirmed a lot of people took that as evidence he was cut and would be replaced with another "second Link" like Young Link was (money on the time was on "Classic Link", based on his ALBW look). When Toon Link got confirmed, that left a lot of people wondering what would happen to the Toon Link conducting the train when you were playing as Toon Link on that stage. This was Sakurai's answer, but it was presented so strangely (like many of Sakurai's updates since as far back as the Brawl DOJO!!) that it became a meme, with Alfonzo replacing anyone and anything with a exclamation of "Leave it to me!"
I'd be happy with this too. I'm not a fan of Metal Gear Solid, just something about it that rubs me the wrong way. But I love Snake's playstyle. Back in Brawl I hated MGS being represented in the game, but since the whole #FuckKonami thing, the series deserves a better tribute and closure in some form than what Konami did. MGS needs a new home.
https://smashbros.nintendo.com/buy/ That's a nice looking controller.
For the FE fighter thing, the only one I feel iffy is with Corrin because it still feels like a shoe-in. Chrom, Lucina and Robin is understandable because Awakening did save the FE franchise. No problem with Ike, Roy and Marth Nice so we are getting a Special Edition with the Steelbook.
Seeing the controller makes me want a wireless pro controller in the style of a gamecube controller. New wavebirds would sell like water in a drought.
The special edition, with a special edition pro controller, on top of several pre-orders for the amiibos. Jesus they are really trying to milk us dry.And thats not even including if we are gonna get any DLC.
I've fought plenty of Roys and I'm sorry, it's just going to be a agree to disagree thing but when he has the same specials and moves just with tweaked properties I'm going to call him a clone. Him holding his sword backhanded when doing a dolphin slash or whatever its called isn't enough to make me go "yup he's totally original." I admit I was more agressive sounding than I wanted to be in my post (It was late and I was in a bad mood, sorry.) but they're all the god danged same to me.
Roy was a clone in Melee, and then got luigified. But, seeing afterwards your argument turns into pure whinning, as usual, no need to go down on the specifics.
Even if they do add another FE character, it'd likely be an Ike echo. That would be perfect for a not sword user and someone in heavy armor. Someone one with an axe or lance, and doesn't have a counter. Like Fredric or hector. hector's Down B wouldn't be a counter, it would be him not caring about being hit. But they should really add some fighters from other series with lower representation. I know F-zero is basically a dead series, but just give them an extra fighter.
yeah give us Isaac as a marth clone and geno as a megaman one.
I don't know why people keep saying echo fighters for characters that aren't even related. There has yet to be an echo fighter that is from a completely different series.
Him swinging his sword with different properties isn't luigi-fied. If he got entirely new unique moves like Luigi-Missile then he would of been. Sorry but if you want to drag this on it's your own danged fault.
It is kinda funny how people start to defend clones once they get renamed to Echos when the common opinion before was that their movesets better be heavily changed or the characters removed.
I just wish echo's were a little more defined. I figured it was just a Lucina situation where there'd be slight changes to properties. Dark Samus would be kinda towing the line with her actual dodge and stuff but Chrom just seems to be a mix of most of the FE cast so who fucking knows what the rules are anymore.
When almost everything is "it has different properties" I don't consider that a unique fighter that sets himself apart in any way. Luigi's Side B is him launching himself like a missile, can misfire and gets him planted in walls sometimes. His dash attack is wildly flailing and his down b (doc excused) was the tornado instead of the fludd. Roy's standing b is a high damaging charge slash just like Marth His Up B has shitty range and he reverse grips the sword but the animation is basically the same otherwise. Etcetc. Again it's a agree to disagree situation. I don't think there's nearly enough to consider him unique.
Yes? And?
When half the cast is Marth/Roy I think I'm right in "most of the FE cast"
im not the best at math but im pretty sure 2 is not half of 6
You're talking to someone who thinks that Marth/Roy/Lucina/Chrom are all clones/echos/whatever you feel like calling them. Marth, Roy and Ike are 3 which is half of 6. Like I'm not backing down but that line specifically was meant to be more of a joke jeez.
I wish for a minigame that uses trophies, making trophies feel more worth getting. I don't know what the premise would be but I feel like it'd be similar to something like triple triad.
At the very least I hope they have the Series stands for trophies like they did in the Wii-U version. As bizarre as it sounds I found something relaxing about plonking them down and completing sets.
