I would but Amazon Prime discount is too good to resist. I ended up paying $43 in the end for the new Smash and I don't even have a Switch, yet.
On the topic of Echos, I wouldn't mind them if... They were more unique. I definitely don't understand how Lucina is considered an "echo fighter" and then you have Pichu and Young Link who are treated as fully fledged unique characters. Chrom seems to kind of blur the lines a bit with Aether. But then you have cases like Luigi, Falco, and Ganondorf, where they certainly made them different enough to stand out. Or even Wolf, where he's "similar" in basic concepts but otherwise extremely different.
Idk I'm probably asking too much and I'm going to enjoy it all anyway. I just think it's cool to see every new character added.
This kinda goes against much of their premise, which is as easy roster filler that appeals to fans that otherwise would not receive those characters. The more effort you put into them, the less of them you can have.
That being said, it's a tad strange that they didn't give Dark Samus a down smash taken from the assist trophy and I hope a few future echoes use SSB4 customs.
To make an interesting echo, all you have to do is change one significant part of how their toolkit works, and suddenly they can feel very different to play.
Dark Pit is the perfect example of an uninteresting echo, as the moves that were changed are rather seldom used, while Lucina is a much better, more distinct one despite her moves appearing to the same at first; the removal of the damage falloff attribute from all of her framedata means positioning is no longer nearly as important to her, and her speed can instead be used for raw aggression. It's not as big of a difference at the pro level, and in fact in an environment where Marth players consistently get tippers she's not great by comparison, but playing her casually, not having to check your spacing constantly makes her much easier to pick up, and you can play with some rush-down tactics that would actively hamper Marth.
I hope Daisy has a slightly different float or different turnips, just enough that it makes a difference in how you have to zone with her.
Pretty sure it was already shown that her turnips bounce along the ground, so there's that at least.
Dunno if it's already been stated but, what's different about Dark Samus aside from having a significantly better forward/back roll?

If Dark Samus is identical to Samus in every way other than animations and having a straight-up better roll, then they're just a better Samus
There has to be something else
Sakurai thinks that Samus is the strongest character in Smash 4 so if Dark Samus is better than regular Samus he'll probably consider it a downgrade.
When did he say that Samus is the strongest?
Forgot to do an after Heir 5 post. It was dope, I played too much Melee, drank way too much and didn't sleep.
I had a 9am doubles pool, and we got stomped, only winning one set. Me and my doubles partner entered for fun, so it was a good time anyway.
Straight after I had my singles pool, and my first game was against my firdt seed Fuzzyness, which went down to last stock. Then I did a horrible counterpick and he solidly 4 stocked my for the fist bump.
Afterwards I played Falcon for the rest of pools, and lost all my games but one. Decided to bring out the Fox for my last game against the second seed, took a game and almost won the set :^(
Round 2 pools I won every game, making it through to the final bracket thing for placing 7th in your round 1 pool.
9am on Sunday was grim, and by my third set I had enough and died trying to falcon punch in neutral. Drank more and got to watch Westballz almost reset GFs on Leffen.
Was a great weekend, highly recommend going to Heir next year if you can
It was at an e3 invitational before the game was done, so who knows how accurate it was at the time.
I only even met 1 damn good Samus player at my last job. Do hope that the new Charge Shot makes her a bit more viable.
Speaking of Echos, what if they were to add Black Shadow as a Capt. Falcon echo, and he uses Melee Ganon's moveset with some adjustments to move properties to make them a bit more unique and still somewhat play like Falcon? Making him a Ganon Echo would be too weird and would ruin the whole theme of Echos being from the same franchise as the character they are based on.
The echo I want the most is Raichu.
I wanna see some Luigi gameplay, he still doesn't seem to be in any footage from recorded play.
Yeah I wasnt really thinking of Black Shadow to just be a slower but stronger Falcon, but a Falcon with less focus on combos and more of raw damage, somewhat similar to Melee Ganon. I feel like it could still be possible to keep BS maybe just as fast as Falcon, but maybe with some similar weight to Ganon.
"* The basic parameters such as attack power and blowing power, walking, running speed, jumping power, weight, etc. are about the same fighter for the original fighter"

Straight from nintendo.com.. doesn't get more clear cut than that. If Black Shadow is an echo of Falcon they won't be "Melee ganondorf" or anything like that.
doesnt dark pit deal slightly more % on some moves than dark pit though?
Black Shadow as a plain Falcon echo wouldn't really be too bad tho.
I know this is a longshot, but I really hope with characters like Ridley and K. Rool being confirmed, we have a chance of seeing franchises like Advance Wars and Golden Sun get proper representation. The way I see it, Ridley and K. Rool were long overdue and could've easily gotten in an earlier game, while franchises like Golden Sun/Advance Wars had strong popularity but died before they could get a more prominent rep.
And for the record I don't play either of those two franchises, I just love seeing more franchises represented in general.
At this point, most newcomers may be for existing franchises as it's cheaper to represent an existing series (as opposed to also adding new music, new stages, new trophies, new assist trophies, new items, etc). I was previously holding out hope that Sakurai would focus on new franchises such as Chibi Robo, Golden Sun, Rhythm Heaven, Custom Robo, etc., just to round things out for the few remaining Nintendo franchises, but I'm not counting on it at this point.
Golden Sun is a lot more likely than Advance Wars, despite the latter being a first-party.
Wars overall was not focused around main characters, it just happens that the three most popular games in the series had Andy, Sami, max and the gang.
I would like to see Sami or Andy be playable, but I just don't see even a stage happening in the base game for them.

no kazoos baaaabbyyy
I was reading SmashBoards, and evidently, this is the same user who managed to somehow access the 3DS demo long ago. So, it might actually be legit.
Feels weird to hear a song from Yoshi's New Island that doesn't sound like shit given on how atrocious it was.
You know what song would be nice to be a remix? Super Punch-Out's Minor Circuit theme:
