Star Wars Gaming Megathread Episode IV - A New Update

what a bizarre way of describing over-the-top action
There's nothing inherently wrong with pulling a Star Destroyer out of the sky (not from orbit). Moving objects with the force isn't a matter of strength, Yoda told Luke as much when Luke complained that his sunken X-Wing was too heavy to lift.
It's just impractical really.
It's also far from the most ridicules thing the force did in the old EU.
So I guess that would make Fallen Order like Jedi Knight but with less of the fun parts of the EU. Eh.
Plus, if this was to take place after Episode 9 with the reforming of the Jedi order under Rey or some shit things Starkiller could do wouldn't even be all that sacrilegious to canon.
The force's awakening has opened the path to seemingly endless untrained and powerful force users, even that kid on Canto Bight. Rey and Kylo are already using powers unseen before.
I never considered Starkiller's super duper force powers to be canon in my head canon, I just considered them game mechanics.
at the time I'm pretty sure the game was Lucas canon. Taking the star destroyer out of the sky was a QTE cutscene anyway
No, while Lucas had a small involvement, I'm pretty sure it was just regular old game canon.
I swear I specifically recall Lucas stating it as canon and it getting filed under Lucas canon. I was just as obsessed with what is and isn't canon back then as I am now

Grain of salt.
In terms of Starkiller's OP antics, I recall Sam Witwer discussing it and saying he views the power's in-game as a "tall tale" sort of scenario, people retelling Starkiller's adventures and hamming up the shit he could do.
"This guy was so powerful he could beat up Darth Vader!"
"Get the fuck outta here Greg."
"No, I'm serious, he ripped Star Destroyers out of the sky!"
Yeah I remember him saying that on one of his gaming streams, he viewed the novel as a more accurate version of events.
The Force Unleashed, to me, was always its own sub-universe. I never considered them canon in any way; just a fun game and story set in the Star Wars universe that utilizes various force powers simply for the player's enjoyment. Or 'what if?' scenarios.
That being said, I still want Rahm Kota to be canon.
Ha, yeah, Starkiller has always seemed like such a fan fiction-type character. "Yeah, he's like, this super powerful Force User and he was trained by Darth Vader himself! Only he and his hot pilot girlfriend turn good bring together all the factions to form the Rebellion! It takes the Emperor himself to finally kill him, and even though he dies, the rebel leaders think he was so cool that they use his family crest for the Rebellion's logo!"
I would like to see the Inquisitors expanded upon in official canon, and, yeah, that'd be a good way to bring Starkiller and Rahm Kota into the new canon but toned down from The Force Unleashed.
Yeah, you can easily add entries using Frosty, or just plain old photoshop. even cheat engine can change skin names.
I'll always have a special place in my gaming heart for The Force Unleashed because:
It was one of those games who had multiple release across several platforms, each with its own gimmick. I originally bought the Playstation 2 version of the game, but I later discovered how abysmal said port was in comparison to the last gen versions. This was one of the main factors that made me buy a Playstation 3, to the point that I ordered the game from fucking China via Ebay and I was diying a little inside each day of waiting till I finally got the thing and played it.
At the time I pretty much gushed over Revenge of the Sith almost constantly, and this game provided me with an easily accesible, entertaining expansion of said film. Consider that, to this very day, the Rise of the Empire era is my favorite part of the Star Was canon, second only to the Old Republic era.
I still belive TFU was a very fun experience overall, with great duel boss fights and a gameplay who rewarded the player to use his/her Force power creatively, even if the whole thing really is written like a sub-par, self-insert fan fiction and the fun gameplay premise gets more and more reduced as the game progresses.
Not so much about TFU II though.
TFU II was a shameless die-hard Star Wars fans bait and an utter shit.
I really hope this game is a JKA style game. I really hated the introduction of combo-fighting hack and slash with TFU. It was a great game and I enjoyed it, but it siignalled the end of the skill-based directional swinging of the JK series - which is completely unrivaled by any. The story needed some love, and it's aged pretty poorly in regards to visuals, but it is still THE best gameplay of any SW game I can think of (for melee).
SP only is a good sign, but if it does turn out to be like JK series for combat, I want to have moddable multiplayer, or at least the vanilla multiplayer from JK for deathmatch.
I think TFUII had better combat (and graphics) but that's it.
IIRC they had much larger plans for the sequel, and they were trying to make it a huge improvement in all areas, but producers forced them into either releasing early or didn't think the franchise had any potential.
Fuller Servers The system currently in place favours the creation of setting up new servers with the minimum number of players.
As we move forward with the new system, we will be changing the matchmaking behaviour so it prioritises filling up existing servers as opposed to starting new ones.
What this means is that with more matchmaking events occurring at a server level, you should find yourself joining games where the server is trending towards being full, rather than starting a new, empty server.

"Ditching Forced Class Appearances and Revamping Customization" [fanmade thread]

Interesting. I understand where they were coming from when they said they wanted to keep class appearances distinctive before, but I think they could juuust about get away with giving us more freedom in this game.
Heads shouldn’t be restricted at the least.
Do the different alien voice sets even have all the voice lines for each class? I figured if they didn't then that'd be the most likely reason for being class locked.
I think the aliens do.
