Wouldn't the fact that you said "used to" indicate that he's changed his mind and you're clearly aware of that?

That is a fucking throw back and a half. Well played.
So, a month or two ago my brother won a hundred dollar killstreak grenade launcher, and after selling it almost immediately, he proceeded to buy cosmetics for his friends. Foe me, he purchased an Unusual Buccaneer's Bicorne with halloween effect. It's my very first unusual (I don't unbox crates). I have since gotten more friend requests than I have in my entire 7 year tenure on steam - and every single one of them is an obvious scammer. I guess I can finally relate to what all of you deal with on a daily basis.
that's absolute shit man it's weird as fuck that my friends who own a single low tier unusual each pretty much get scammers 24/7 and me who owns 7 unusual hats/12 unusual taunts gets fucking ziltch i just wanna get some russian to add me so i can waste his time for like 2 hours then block him when he finally realizes he isn't gettin' the goods
Scammers only add people they think will fall for their scam. They know somebody with 7 mid-tier unusuals isn't going to fall for a "can i see it" scam. The guy with one random unusual and an otherwise whatever backpack might have unboxed it and doesn't know better.
guess that makes sense maybe i should start huffing glue to see if that helps my cause in getting russians to add me!
I think the saddest part about all of this is that scammers treat this as a full time a job. They've reached a point where they have convinced themselves that no matter how hard they try with their studies, or applying for jobs, they are forever doomed to face trouble that would prevent them from becoming "as rich as the targets they scam." You get to learn a bit about these guys after several hundred come your way in the hopes you're stupid enough to make their day at work a good one. Here's a tip or two for identifying scammers relatively quickly; They fancy up their profile in odd ways, and often blatantly lie where they are by using the Steam Profile to do so. Look closely and you'll find inconsistencies as well. Did you know its commonly taught outside of the U.S and U.K to put a "whitespace" between the last word and punctuation like question marks, or exclamation marks? (i.e "hey its me your brother ?", "do you have the keys ?") I'm not suggesting everyone outside the U.S and U.K are scammers. Ever get a random add from someone with a fancy looking profile that has a lot of familiar or very high level'd steam accounts? They never respond either? They're most likely adding you to "buff" their profile's appearance to then scam someone else. Its best to just investigate every profile that ever adds you. Get this, I swear its a life changer: Enhanced Steam (Adds direct links to sites like SteamRep, Backpack.tf, gives you the profile's steamID64 permalink, and lets you know immediately if they've been marked as a Scammer by SteamRep) (i.e Enhanced Steam) https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/315994/5878bd8f-d2af-41a0-83c0-8751c3772ce4/firefox_2018-09-07_22-05-54.png In all honesty I don't think these people will ever just up and disappear, no matter how tight Valve squeezes the rope around their necks and consequently ours as well... {LINK REMOVED}
Lowlife scum will forever exist and the only thing you can do is shine a light on them to scare them away.
Since Gang Garrison 2 was brought up, does anybody remember that other "demake" Tf2 game? The one where it was a 4-player arcade-style 2D sprite game? I really wanted to try that one but can't remember its name for the life of me. I'm also gonna try fiddling with GG2 since it's been too long since I properly tried it out. Anybody got any other good TF2 games like it or the aforementioned arcade beat-em-up-esque?
You're thinking of Team Fortress Arcade, made by Eric Ruth.
It's literally called Team Fortress Arcade Team Fortress Arcade
I apologize if I'm showing off, but I just bought a Strange Thirst Blood for $2.22, but it had a Assists, Kills and Heavies killed part. The second part being worth $13 on the market.
I really just hope the Ambassador gets returned to a playable state this update. It probably needed a nerf so it wasn't so frustrating to play against, sure, but I don't think saying it's been over-nerfed is a radical statement, especially since Spy didn't receive any counter-buffs... I've done my best with it in pubs, but it just isn't fun to use anymore and is frustratingly inconsistent in a way that the rest of Spy's kit isn't. Running around and shooting heads sans a scope was one of my favorite things to do in a pub, and great aim training on top of that. There's nothing that really duplicates that experience anymore. Closest thing is, like, Huntsman Sniper, which is fun and more effective but not as fun as Amby, at least not for me...
I've been using it myself lately, it's actually great fun now that I don't feel compelled to sit and snipe. The trick is to not rely on it and just play Spy as usual, the clutch headshots will come when the time is right.
I Disagree, lots of steam scammers are pretty dumb and go for the shotgun approach. I had an unusual taunt when they were pretty rare and I got tons of friend requests from STEAMSUPPORTT.ORG for about a month until I got so sick of it I got rid of it (on TF2WH of all places too, I got almost all the other taunts at the time with the credit I got from the sale so it was worth it imo).
seeing some funny EPIC meme videos pop up and really old, old screenshots reminded me of current-r/tf2 There is still some decent stuff there, sometimes, rarely, but I used the "wayback" machine lately and checked on r/tf2. 60% more gameplay clips, 20% more gameplay discussion, the rest were jokes and memes. Nowadays it really is just 80% memes and the best stuff that is coming out of the sub is fanart. I don't like the dick-measuring as far as communities go but it really is a shame. Whenever people talk about that, people usually say that "its because we have nothing to talk about" yet after Blue Moon, Jungle Inferno etc. the sub looked exactly the same.
if I want to play unaltered Spy, I'd play stock Spy, which is better and more consistent than the Ambassador in every way right now.
I'm kind of in the same boat as well. The most I could see what was wrong with the Ambassador before was that it was tripping on Sniper's playstyle a bit. Which just mean it needed something to restrict long range headshots and that's it. In close range it was perfectly find to be dealing those 102 damage head shots still. I'd also still like to see some buffs for the DR as well that I mentioned earlier, that make it more useful while still keeping it from being spammable. Preferibly a faster recharge rate and preferibly the decloak sound being reduced to at least the levle the Cloak n Dagger is. If they have too they could possible remove the movement speed buff introduced in the, I forget was it the gunmettle update if need be. I can probably do without it honestly. Bit I find it barely even situational good as of now. Maybe my play style classes with it, but I honestly feel like I'd be more productive if I ran stock and died and respawn then using the Dead Ringer to pretend I'm dead then wait 20 seconds for my watch to fully charge again.
I agree that the Ambassador is overly nerfed, and I hated playing against it. The damage falloff range needs to be increased. The Dead Ringer does not need to be buffed in any way at all. Remember, Spy now moves at Medic speed all the time (unless disguised as a slower class and not cloaked). When the DR pops, Spy briefly moves faster than a scout. He also has damage resistance while ringing (Reduces initial damage by 75%, then upcoming damage by 65% to 20% after 3 seconds.) Until/unless Valve improves flame particle hit detection (without a return to the JI insanity), spy does NOT need any further counters to the class that is supposed to counter HIM. The same problem exists with Sniper having too many things that counter Spy. Also, the Huo Long Heater needs a buff so that spies can't jump over the flame ring and get a backstab. It'd still be a useless weapon, but at least then it would serve its intended purpose.
amby's issue is the same as loose cannon's, it's a self-defense weapon that requires you to sit around and wait for your skill-derived burst damage that you may or may not get before you die so if anything I'd make it headshot with every shot and increase the accuracy
Just for the record, just about every class counters spy with communication and occasionally turning around. Most classes will flat out destroy him if he gets spotted... As it stands, Dead ringer is good for literaly one thing currently... Getting through choke point that are spammed. I honestly don't see much of a point to running dead ringer outside of that, and even then I honestly don't like using it. The load decloak sound often means you'll have to decloak away from people, other wise the decloak sound will give you away. It hurts with possitioning and setting up unless you think way in advance before hand. When you decloak it can take the watch up to 20 seconds for it to fully recharge. You can speed it up a little with le'tranger, but bare in mind shooting people means you run the risk of giving yourself away for the chance to speed up your watch. If they find you, you either die or waste your watch again to survive. If you choose not to wait, now you're stuck running around uncloaked with a watch that does nothing for you. Which is generally a death sentence if you get caught. All in all, it's a pretty bad situation and not really worth using outside of the other watches as it stands. You'll be extremely under productive at getting things done.
valve put a bandaid on that problem by essentially making LC suck so hard it does like 106 at max range donk so you're better off just spamming nades, but yeah it's a meme weapon I wrote a wall of text about LC once, can't be arsed to find it now
I agree the Ambassador needs a buff, they nerfed it too hard. Perhaps increase the headshot range a little bit (I see it's 1200 hammer units now, maybe 1500 or 1600) and maybe any headshot outside of that gets a minicrit. I think Huo Long Heater needs a complete rework. The ring of fire isn't that great and never really has been. I would like the rework to have something to do with fire though. Dead Ringer needs a small buff. Either make it so it no longer removes half of the cloak meter when activated (so if you only use it for a few seconds it recharges in a few seconds, maybe give it a small cool down so it can't be spammed) or maybe give spy extra cloak back for backstabs and saps. No picking up metal and ammo to refill cloak though.
the range is fine, from the headshots I get a minuscule amount is less than 102
I think the biggest problem with the heater is the fact its gimmick is fire. You can't really do much with it since thats the pyro's primary thing. If they just ditched the bad fire gimmick and tried something completely different I'd say it could work. Hell remove the fire ring and make it so he gets more movement speed with each kill, capping out at his regular walk speed after about 6-8 kills. That could be his "Fire" meter or something.
Bringing MvM back up, I've been working on a new map for it. It's a gatebot map, like Mannhattan, that tries out randomized spawns and weaving paths. I always liked the multi-objective mechanics of Mannhattan, so this is my attempt at offering more challenge and improving replayability. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1505860413&searchtext=doppler
I honestly do not care for the ambassador but I do feel the nerf was unjustified. most of the headshots you go for miss and even if you get good with it your still averaging the same damage output as with the regular revolver. Before the nerf the only thing it had over the other revolvers was range but with that gone it suffers from Scottish resistance syndrome: It can be just as effective at stock, it just requires unnecessary amounts of effort to do so. I fear stock revolver spies way more than amby spies before and after the nerf because you know you can't crouch jump spam or use erratic movement to fuck with him, no you're taking 60 damage every half second and you were liking it. Compared to the ambassadors puny average 35 damage, the constant misses on headshots even if you were good, the implied .5 second fire rate decrease with people wanting to maximize headshot revenue and even in its initial 102 at any range configuration It's still laughably inconsistent even in skilled hands.
