TF2 General Chat and Speculation Station V10 - It is not dead, is Aliven't

So.
Pubstomping with 'friendteam' = Bad.
Playing Solo and getting pubstombed by a 'friendteam' = Bad.
Helping 'friendteam' after autobalance = Bad.
So the conclusion is don't play with friends If you want to have fun with them? I do keep in mind the option "Play against your friend when he gets Autobalanced", but the reason people queue with friends is to play with each other not against each other.
I don't really see the point of this statement. That's has nothing really to do with auto-balance. That's called being a dick and griefing your team.
You don't even need to be in a party to do that, you can do that on your own. People have been griefing since TF2's launch. I still remember team roomba's videos made back in 2007 where they played games just to grief other people.
On Facepunch, autobalnce is the new random crits.
That is entirely up to the player.
The game is the game- sure it might suck in particular if you choose to limit yourself in class choice and playstyle, then it’s much easier to get bored or burned out.
The way I see it, considering that the game has hundreds of maps, weapon combos, and thousands of hours of playtime depth in each class, and that’s without even mentioning competitive. So if you haven’t mastered all of that, the game still has content for you.
And walking away from that is on the player, not the game.
Yeah sorry, you're right, I'll go back trying to support the mega braindead gibus friendliest next time I get autobalanced to the opposite team.
I mean that's a great way to have fun and not be a spoiled brat.
are you suggesting you are blaming the community for not scolding valve 24/7? that the tf2 playerbase ought to bully valve to make them squirt more updates?
well of course you are but that just sounds more ridiculous each time
Compare this though. You can support your team and try and make a difference or you can cry like a child because your not getting you hand held and intentional sabotage your team potentially ruining the fun of the match for literally everyone else on the server?
Fair point, but I simply will not support people who are ruining the game for me aswell.
Also you can calm down with your "child" "brat" refferences, If you want to start throwing insults, I can do so back, but you're not gonna like it.
A fascinating change of mind, If you may allow me to prod what was the tipping point?
There's nothing wrong with queuing up with friends.
Depends on the person.
Yeah, because that makes you a griefer/troll. It's a dick move. Just play the game.
Don't play with friends if the idea of not being on their team is so unconscionable that you literally can't have fun.
I agree with you on most things, but damn was that a stupid thing to say. You're assuming a ton by saying that. If it's a casual match and I want to play on the same team as my friends, i'm going to try to play on the same team as my friends if it's within my power. Is it potentially bad for the match's balance? Sure. Does it mean I care more about my ego than balancing the teams?
Of course not, that's a ridiculous statement. You're smarter than this, set up a better argument if you're putting out an opinion like this.
I love TF2, genuinely, but I'm not gonna be upset with people who don't dedicate their daily lives to it, especially if they've been playing for years. You can love something without dedicating all of your time and attention to it, and a long drought of silence when the game still has pressing issues that need to be fixed is a valid reason to take a break until something interesting happens again.
@Kaiga
How much of that content do you personally actually play? Can you say it's all enjoyable or worthwhile? Personally, I really don't care for playing the Pyro or Engineer because they're janky and slow, respectively. Should I force myself to play parts of the game I don't find fun? Am I somehow failing as a player for not doing so? The strength of TF2's content density isn't the sheer fact that there's so much of it, it's that there's so much diversity that you're bound to enjoy at least some of it.
Personally, I've more than satisfied my need to get daily fixes out of Spy and the main combat classes. That, plus my current shitty Internet situation, have put me out of playing TF2 more than "every now and then, when I feel like it". I still love and enjoy it- still interact with TF2 media, this very thread...still waiting eagerly for the next big update...but it's not like it's an actual relationship or marriage I have to dedicate myself to.
Not speaking to your wife or best friend for two weeks would be pretty shitty, yeah. But TF2 is not a conscious entity with emotional needs, it's a video game and it's going to be here for a while. I'd be genuinely surprised if the game died anytime soon. You can be genuinely invested without treating TF2 like a part-time job.
In completely other news, I wish Valve would release a new strange part: Scoped-In Snipers Killed. I love clobbering hardscopers with zero situational awareness.
I'd rather be playing against the winning team than further stacking in their favor. At least when the teams are stacked against you there's the challenge there of outplaying the enemy as the underdog. Deliberately avoiding autobalance to stack teams so you can stomp the kiddies (not sure if you're actually implying you do this, but that's what geel was talking about) is honestly kind of pathetic. Might as well turn off TF2 and go to the wiki page for Administrator voice lines if you care more about hearing the Administrator say "VICTORY" than you do about actually facing a challenge.
Don't misunderstand, unbalanced teams suck any way you slice it, and a match where teams are stacked against you sucks, but a match where teams are stacked in your favor sucks way more. You're just sitting on your ass watching spies and snipers gib themselves running out of spawn at that point.
It strikes me as particularly hypocritical to say "what kind of loser would want to be on a team that's stacked against them, man valve are assholes for letting teams get stacked", while stacking teams against the enemy. When you do that, you're part of the problem.
Well when you are edgy all the time, normal, nice people will leave you, and you're only gonna be surrounded by other edgelords, who will give you a taste of your own medicine. So now that I walked in the shoes of people I annoyed, harassed, offended, I really don't wanna be that person anymore. It is just terrible, for everyone, and if they're not gonna change, at least I should, to be the better mann, and do the right thing. I'm not saying I wanted to be mean on purpose, almost everything I ever said was a joke, but just because you do jokes, doesn't mean they won't hurt people's feelings. There were jokes that the edgelords said to me recently, that made me go like "Hey, that's not nice..." and they just responded with "It's just a joke, pussy, don't be like that..." That's where I realised that the real problem in my life isn't others, it's the mann living in my mirror. It's time for a change. It's time to stop. Wish others would do so as well.
I'm not entirely sure what completely justifies the argument that anyone who hates the autobalance system as it is, must then also identify with the following:
Insatiable desire to win
a big ego
hasn't and will never attempt to speak the same language as a free to play
only wants to roll 'bad teams' as opposed to playing against 'good teams'
has probably never played against an 'enemy stack'
Every one of these are assumptions made based solely in response to someone displaying a measure of discomfort, albeit with a bit of frustration but this isn't anything to fault someone for. Rydercycle's latest video on random crits is a pretty good example of how all it takes is some blanket assumptions to hold up an argument to a crowd of.. 1.2k people~ "its all about winning!"
I like winning, but I won't force cooperative gameplay unless I'm playing in a recognized competitive format with familiar and like minded players. I'll take my losses in Casual, but not without a good display of effort on my part, regardless who its up against, friend or not. But often times this effort, despite not saying anything in chat will still somehow impart on a few players that I'm a 'filthy tryhard'. And if I were to communicate with my own team its gonna be a 40/60 chance they'll play along, or tell me to shut up. With the odds in my experience being in favor of the latter, I tend to just avoid the chances. No one should blame me or anyone for choosing to do so. Especially considering Valve won't make an effort on their end to alleviate this.
It some how always comes back to this argument about ego or elitism when someone speaks passionately about what it is they want to see done for the game they play on a near daily basis. I could only ever see this being true if the person genuinely thinks their idea is the superior and blatantly states such as a counter argument. Otherwise you're making assumptions based on text and are most likely doing so with a biasd mindset in an effort to rebound on a moral high ground. Making fun of free-to-plays isn't always a show of elitism, in my case its often backed with an explanation about the displeasure I have for the change in the way the average gamer of today attempts to learn more about the game they're playing compared to those previous to 2009~ Simply being that most just flat out don't put any effort into communicating, or reaching out to others. Or for that matter, doing a little bit of self research.
If it wasn't bad enough that I like to win, I also like a good fucking challenge. cp_powerhouse stalemates are my favorite. Its a DM friendly map and when the teams are evenly balanced, you get some pretty long matches.

But its beyond frustrating to play your heart out and even go as far as to challenge yourself when a majority of the time you get put with or against players who couldn't give two shits and will most likely ragequit by the 5th or so time you've killed them. This isn't limited to powerhouse but a single round is often enough to make half or even an entire team leave.
No, I don't enjoy rolling teams that I know are'bad.' I get nothing out of it. I don't learn anything, and I most certainly don't get better at the game by doing so. I do however enjoy crushing an enemy stack that puts effort in and clearly knows their stuff. While the game might not look like it was evenly balanced, all that really matters to me is that both teams were giving it their best, and in this case it happened to turn into a roll. It happens!
The last bullet is pretty obvious. The match maker deliberately places equally sized parties on both teams without fail. So if you've ever played in a party with friends, you've played against a party of enemies. Its not impossible, but depending on the map selection and time of day you can face stacks while playing solo. I like the challenge, but it sure is a tall order when I get placed with people who downloaded the game 10 days ago and have yet to figure out they can use the 'A' and 'D' keys.
sometimes you need to make sure that you're not playing too good, for the people on the other team to ragequit and then you get autobalanced
perhaps the reason why I havent played tf2 in over 2 weeks is because I am moving and am given limited internet connection, making multiplayer games a very bad idea?
there is a difference between being passionate for the game and crying your lungs out every single day and every single hour. The fact that you got so incredibly petty and childish over this is honestly pretty upsetting.
I'm not sure why the discussion on autobalance is focusing on woefully stacked team vs. team of people who just installed
that's an edge case; most of the time the teams are moderately equal, and autobalance makes perfect sense there. I'm not sure if you have terrible luck or are just not remembering all the banal standard games that happen, but autobalance is fine 90% of the time.
It's not an edge case because if it was an edge case, autobalance wouldn't be needed. Edge cases would mean one team is down a single person at most. If people are leaving a team in droves, it's pretty fairly obvious that the teams are unbalanced, hence autobalance being necessary.
probably was autobalanced
speaking of autobalance, this is still my favorite video regarding it

No, that isn't what I was saying at all actually.
But yes, consumers should be as entitled as possible. Corporations work for us, not themselves.
It is technically.
honestly I hate playing on the losing team but only because it limits your access to very small parts of a map.
Seems the saxxy guys have arrived in the US.

It would be pretty fucking cool If Valve streamed next TF2 Insomnia event on Steam.tv
I thought yoru post looked a little bulky, so I cut out some (what I saw as) unnecessary information. Am I right in assuming this is what you meant?
I don't get it
yes like release a blue moon 2 update next month
