When TF2GC runs out of things to complain about
I never said it was. GB honestly has had a number of issues going back to when it was FPSBanana, but you can't deny GB's TF2 section was fairly popular back when mods were still alive. The fact they even let that shit stay is beyond any logic.
A trust system isn't the "Only" solution to this issue. You could've simply made a filter for massively gameplay affecting things or simply forced the default MOTD, whatever, but not this. Not something that fucked over so many friendships and communities, places for people to hang out and chill.
Removing mods doesn't equal to basically killing the entire game for a lot of people.
Yeah, everyone at Valve will claim they're a big fan of TF2, while they do anything but work on it.
After checking through the old TF2 interactive YouTube adventure (the one I posted in TF2 media), I got hit by a wave of nostalgia. It also reminded me of SPUF, so I decided to go check it out.
...But I didn't realize that SPUF was killed off a year ago ._. Pity, I really liked the threads like the Medic interactive text adventures. You don't see that kind of stuff in SCUD. I wonder where the Medic dude went off to.
Happy September First everybody!

Holy shit seeing the acronym SPUF is a wave of nostalgia. Not surprising that it was killed off tbh, barely any subforums were active except (amusingly) the TF2 one. Also discussion was a pain because no avatars or signatures.
Quick fyi for anyone who's interested, Canteen Crasher should be fully good to go now. Contracts shouldn't be reset anymore and there are now 36 servers for it.
I'm psyched. The Titanium Tank tour was the most fun I've had playing MvM in ...years.
welp, onward to the recycled halloween then
?
there's no reason to release anything so close to halloween. if valve had anything done for summer they'll just include it inside the coming halloween.
this isn't 6 years ago when valve shit out updates anywhere anytime. they'll merge them more and more.
Ya lads think we'll get anything before Halloween?
Here's hoping the Heaby Update will come this month so we can have a Scream Fortress.
That's a bit like hoping for world peace, isn't it?
I'd be inclined to agree with you, except JI released later than this and within weeks of a technically-separate Halloween update.
How many updates we've had by September 1 in past years,
2008 - 35, 3 added content
2009 - 30, 3 added content
2010 - 49, 5 added content
2011 - 64, 13 added content
2012 - 44, 9 added content
2013 - 48, 6 added content
2014 - 39, 5 added content
2015 - 33, 5 added content
2016 - 36, 2 added content
2017 - 17, 1 added content
2018 - 14, 1 added content
What an encouraging trend!
Maybe they'll just put out a normal, nice updated Scream Fortress then?
How can you know? Did you expect Blue Moon? No one did, no one knows what they're working on, you just have to wait and see.
I actually did expect a content update early on in the year, we had the same thing with the Rainy Day Case. I do not really expect a Halloween content update this year but I do expect a major update and of course Smissmas. It's a trend.
At this point I think it's best to look forward to Scream Fortress and hope for a very heavy Christmas.
So as far as actual content being added, basically business as usual, same as the past 2-3 years?
Don't get me wrong, it sucks that TF2 is getting less attention than it did a decade ago, but is anyone honestly surprised? It's not like Valve is gonna suddenly stop supporting DOTA, put their VR projects on hold, and go back to that late 2000's trend of pumping out full class packs and new game modes like there's no tomorrow. We used to give Valve a free pass for putting out quality games and having cool, talented people on the payroll, but it's worth remembering that they're a business at the end of the day. They've made their money on TF2 and, at this point in the game's lifecycle, they've illustrated time and time again that they're more than content to give it the bare minimum of support in order to keep people buying keys. There are tons of people playing it, but Valve doesn't make money just from people playing the game; in terms of lootbox sales, TF2 is nowhere near as big as DOTA or CSGO.
The fact that they've started taking tentative steps towards balancing weapons and classes in such a way as to make TF2 a viable e-sport shows that they're at least a little concerned with keeping the whole shebang running (and maybe if it gets to a point where competitive TF2 is seen as a profitable venture, Valve will go back to giving it the love it deserves), but I honestly wouldn't be stunned at all if this phantom Heavy update ends up being the last BIG multi-day update the game ever gets. Maybe we'll get updates like Smissmas 2014 or Tough Break (that adds a few weapons or maps here and there) from that point out, but I feel like anyone hoping we're ever gonna go back to the days of 2009 or 2011 (when we'd get three full class loadouts in a single update) is just setting themselves up for disappointment.
The game will never truly die so long as there are still people playing it and talking about it like we do here, but its time as the third pillar of Valve's infrastructure has long since passed. Valve is no longer Half-Life/Portal/TF2; it's DOTA/CSGO/Steam. And unless TF2 starts bringing in the profit needed to get Valve's attention, that isn't gonna change anytime soon.
It's here guys, update confirmed. :^)
TF2 Heavy update next Tuesday • Eurogamer.net
Teamwork.tf is reporting 24K players are playing TF2 right now (It says they don't count bots and idlers).
Is this actually accurate?
If so, then that Overwatch Rip-off (Paladins) have 2K more players playing it compared to TF2.
Thanks Valve.
wow I can't wait, this is gonna be fucking sick and It's only 5 days away

Also if you disregard the F2P that are only trying the game out cause it's free, and will uninstall it after a couple of months, or just forget about it, it's even less than that. This game is only technically alive. It's like filling up a half empty theater with cardboard cutouts at this point. Please stop saying the game isn't dying. Even eurogamer called it this year a "very forgotten" Valve game when they made that comp drama report. Not to mention the TF2 YouTubers that can bearly even get 100k subs. A lot of them are under 50k and they actually think they are popular YouTubers lmao. Oh and also the almost non existent major updates that help promote the game.
Windows 10 in 2008?

So, in the vein of the Pyro Update, what could they add to 'fix' the heavy but not actually fix him?
Fix Heavy knockback mechanic to be active against ALL forms of knockback
Revert to 2012 minigun muzzleflash
Heavy can now switch to shotguns instantly when Heavy stops spinning the primary weapon
Remove Heavy damage and accuracy nerf completely
Buff the Natasha and Brass Beast resistance back to pre-MyM
God just shut up with this "Tf2 is dead" crybaby shit.
