that rate is insanely large and completely pointless. where the hell did you even get that number? that interp also doesn't really make any sense. you're essentially making it where even the slightest amount of lag is going to throw off your experience, and that will be happening constantly. take a look at actual network configs before making recommendations like this, please.
Im pretty sure nobody would complain about entire outfit changes if: A: those outfits were theme fitting like that commando heavy set and not fucking furry pajamas B: not able to be painted outlandish colors with pyroland skins that create a visually jarring user experience.
This is why TF2's artstyle sometimes freaks me out (in a good way). Like there's so many high poly cosmetics nowadays that manage to work very well with the player models despite their age.
limitations and restrictions are the breeding grounds for unlimited creativity.
I really don't want to be disrespectful to be the creator of this item but the only hat I really dislike is this one https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Woolen_Warmer The Texture is just so weirdly detailed and outlandish, its the only hat id argue doesnt fit TF2 at all.
I still like using the Weather Master https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/241798/0fb7ed89-be57-461a-b7db-f3fae1a25baa/image.png
I don't nderstand why mastercomfig sets rate to a number close to that. There is no fixed rate value and it depends on your connection speed, but somewhere between 60000 to 80000 are the safe bets. Lower cl_cmdrate/updaterate, I can see possible choke and loss there. 66 is the usual for both but I it is better to read before changing them. Change now that interp 0.00001. It is useless since the engine has a minimum of 0.1
Underrated hat. Actually looks sick painted black. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/242166/ebcc7b1d-befb-458d-b962-c2ee4ff433e6/250px-Hellmet.png
this is such a non-offender and there are many far worse items out there.
While we're on the topic of hats, If you're interested in seeing all the cosmetics in-game, you can do so here.
I've always liked my beatnik Spy https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/134246/6ee6ce94-86bd-4369-ab57-c208a549918a/image.png
its the same pattern I used on the sweater i made.
Looking at today's market, TF2 was really ahead of its time. When the market leaders in both the Hero Shooter and Battle Royale genres ditched typical "realistic" art styles for ones that are similarly stylized, you know Valve had a good thing going on with TF2. Hell, innovation like this used to define Valve period. How many developers do you see going from releasing a sequel to a violent zombie shooter that ups the gore even further, to releasing a sequel to a game about killer cartoon robots that manages to get stamped with a child-friendly E10+ rating? And the latter game manages to be both funnier and have a better story than quite a few M-rated titles, despite consisting entirely of a cast of disembodied voices and psychotic artificial intelligences?
I'm trying to install the new mastercoms config version 7, but when I put in the TF2 folder it says invalid.TF2 folder, try again.
Blizzard did it. more or less. Epic did it too.

Too soon
Also it's placed weirdly on every single Class so it looks weird. Completely flat but the little bob sticks out. It's like a lower-tier Napper's Respite https://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/images/e/e6/Pyro_Woolen_Warmer.png Like, it looks oversized, but also vacuum-sealed to the Class's heads. That's not how hats work Rotation Sensation is better, and also doesn't have horrid clipping issues at any LOd besides the highest poly
I think I've grown to dislike how the TF2 Team just seems to move away from their community more and more. This is speculation (which is the point of the thread, really), but considering the allegedly negative effects that the Invasion Update left for upcoming community updates (which chances for more to happen are slight to none) due to the problems it had, the wake of semi-official community "updates" like Titanium Tank and Canteen Crasher, awarding medals (but no items) for playing on their servers despite their growing popularity, how trusted community server admins were supported to get more powers on their servers which never ended up happening, not to mention the abuse that has been brought up within the TF2 competitive scene, to the point of it getting reported by a gaming-related news site even though it has been resolved since, makes me think that the TF2 Team doesn't want to communicate or do anything big with the community anymore almost to the point of distrustfulness, aside from just getting items from Workshop contributors and putting those on an update, or just simply adding medals again and again. I feel like although we have almost nothing to go with for the next official update, I think that a lot of the community's thirst of content could be completely satiated by community-made updates again. Back then, they felt like an "extra" alongside the content the TF2 Team made, but now that we're suffering long wait times between updates again, it seems like it would be the perfect way to showcase community content and fill in the blanks. Like I said, this would require the TF2 Team to trust someone (and by extent, the community) with anything big, but there's already community content that's excellent quality-wise, like the now seemingly-forgotten Frontline! community update. But of course, the most likely scenario is that we'll never have community-made updates ever again, and that we're at hand of the schedule slips and seemingly-endless waits from the team themselves for a single official big update. It just bums me out that we'll never have anything 100% community-made made official ever again despite it being one of TF2's strongest suits. It's not the biggest wait we've had, but man, they do feel long when you're a passionate fan.
then again, tf2 is already riffing with content. like seriusly, not counting cosmetics and stuff like that, tf2 is packed to the brim with maps, modes and other shit. asking for more is just a byproduct of the early years when the tf team literally dumped stuff over and over over the game and spoiled the shit out of ourselves, and even then, none of that has been removed, has it? you could argue that new stuff brings more interesting stuff to the game, but i guarantee you you could pick the 2007 relase of tf2 and not have as much fun as you could posibly have now.
Your argument is actually kind of weird. It's true that if I were to play the initial release of the game, I'd probably miss the lots of QoL improvements and new additions, but the base game (gameplay mechanics, classes and their personalities, etc.) was what got me to play the game and invest thousands of hours in the first place. Ever since I've seen gameplay of the game on its early years, I've always wanted to play it because it simply just has that charm even though it was out of my reach at the time. Naturally, if the game was to never be updated again, I'd probably move on or play on community servers, but no other game to this day has been able to replicate the same feel that TF2 has. I actually enjoyed TF2 Classic even after the updates that made it different from what it was meant to be (TF2 as it was back then) if that answers your argument, and I'd argue these long waits are what make custom mods shine since nothing is going to break them for more than a year. I just want to see more from the developers themselves and see what ideas they have for the game, and I'd argue that anticipation also makes the game exciting (and also sort of the point of the thread).
I still think the solution to worthless metal and the like is craft-exclusive styles for a lot of classic hats.
They didn't start seriously adding stuff until long after the F2P update though. At most, they added 4-5 new weapons, a few new maps, and maybe a new mode. After the Uber/F2P update is when they seriously started piling things on. And that being said, who's to say we couldn't want more stuff to actually make old abandoned stuff more enjoyable? https://i.imgur.com/cL5PmVb.png
If you have to input a specific console command to make a hat not an eyesore, then it's not a very good hat
That's a good way to turn this from a goofy conversation into being childish. Good job on that
I think the lack of updates is cause the TF Team would much rather focus on big updates with lots of game changes and cosmetics, than focusing on just making small content updates with cosmetics and a few fixes.
But we don’t get those either.
Well, I meant in general, not one year.
To Quote Steven Seagal in the 1995 blockbuster action film Undersiege 2: Dark Territory "we need a deep engine optimization. not just another pile of hats"
Question: how would one who's never made a TF2 mod before go about replacing the Kazotsky Kick music with this gem? https://youtu.be/JZwP7Z9pyNo It syncs up too perfectly, I can't in good conscience pass this up.
