why is something that allows you to get free damage for 3-4 seconds while a monster is roaring a waste of a slot?
I can’t go back to less than level 5 earplugs.
get swole with evasion and dodge roars like a hero while also having a skill thats useful for dodging everything else in the game
Earplugs is preference imo (outside of IG), some people like having more damage and a lot of weapons can just guard thru roars plus if you've a big enough dick you can roll through them too.
I don't run them and I don't find World monsters roar oneshotting me like in older games, not sure if I'm just lucky on that part.
did you guys seemingly forget that i'm talking about skills for great sword.
yea, sure, you can build for evasion and dodge roars, but that isn't standing still while charging and hitting monsters through roar.
Because everything in your post was applicable to any weapon type and I didn't assume you were only talking about greatsword but its still relevant information because GS has an innate way to get through roars (yes the tackle is still viable without focus) so it doesn't really invalidate anything anyone's said so far it is very much down to preference and how you want to combat the roars, and I did already say about world not having the same combos as older gameswas about world where its significantly less punishing when you do get roared not older games
To be honest only a few monsters roar enough to make earplugs worth getting on something outside of like Hunting Horn or maybe Insect Glaive.
cool, but the guy is asking for skills to use with his wyvern ignition since he's new to gs. he's not going to have the timing down to tackle, especially with focus and how short the charge time is compared to not having focus which gives him more leeway on canceling his charge.
follow the comment chain.
also you're assuming he's hunting with a competent team in the first place.
Charge blade impact phials do some stun damage, right? Would it be worth it to make a slugger build for CB?
if you can't tackle through the roars with the Greatsword then just block them with guard. that's what I do
250 hours later but I finally reached HR 100.
Rocksteady mantle.
slugger is almost never a good skill in any situation, even more so for multiplayer
if you don't have anything else to use then you might go with it, but it isn't something I would build for on pretty much any weapon.
Slugger is a wasted slot even for high impact weapons like hammer and hunting horn.
I always wanted to know why this is the case. More KO seems like such a nice boost, but I guess the amount of stun boost the skill provides isn't enough to make it worthwhile?

And my cats taketh away. Silly cats.
I remember bomb cats being the absolute best (read: worst).
Basically it comes down to how many times you can stun a monster in a single hunt. It's pretty rare to get 3+ stuns, so all KO does for hammers and hunting horns is KO just a bit earlier in the fight. I tried using slugger with the charge blade and the weapon just simply doesn't do enough stun damage to make KO worth it.
It'd be nice if the slugger skill would also increase the damage you do attacking a monsters legs to knock it over. It'd be worth it for bazel alone.
Bomber cats are pretty good though, they get the Adept Evade by default and can just drop Mega Barrel Bombays at their feet by dodging, letting them both evade and attack at the same time. My main Prowler, Frost in the images, is a Bomber.
The true worst one is Charisma, just because it gets nothing unique to it and its main abilities are focused on whipping other Palicos back into shape, so not the best to play as a Prowler and there's better Bias choices as a Palico.
Oh boy is Triple Threat Throwdown a fun event to farm.
It's should be named Big Bully Beatdown cause that's what it is. Or Money Maker Mashing.
Good thing I had my cool drink.

For normal monsters, it is usually easier to get a trip than a stun simply by building for damages, and since monsters grow resistance to stuns, even going as far as Slugger 3 only gets you one more KO sometimes before you kill the monster. Although if you are willing to minmax it you can stun earlier and chain trips with it so you might see it sometimes on 4-man cluster builds.
However, since Arch Tempered monster doesn't trip easily and for Lunastra whose weakness aren't on the head, Slugger would be a more viable choice to CC the monster simply because the other options are less worthwhile.
Relish the ... is some straight up bullshit with melee, fighting a monster that can almost one shot you at will, with free dot unless you tip toe around slurping a drink pre every fight, never mind goldenjho being fat enough to literally stomp the lava out of the ground and onto you at any time.
MONSTER HUNTER
Megaman event coming the 19th

I wish i could get into HH for MHW, i have the Jho one, i just... dont understand how to use it.
before you do anything give yourself Self Improvement + encore. boom now you're faster than anyone else with your weapon drawn, you got some attack up, and some hit deflection
build your songs by hitting the monster in the face with the required moves, then play the song in the monsters face, buffing yourself and hitting the monster in the face in the process
