Jesus Christ, Lunastra keeps kicking my ass. I'm not a huge fan of this fight seeing as it just shits out damage everywhere and you only have 15 minutes to repel it. I always run out of time because I can't seem to find enough openings.
I have to repeat this every time. There's not enough monsters in World to justify them sharing weapon models. It's a genuinely lazy part of the game
A big ass fucking Apache revolver and big sheriff badge shield for Gunlance.

Finally solo'd AT Vaal Hazak. I can't trust SOS flares on this dude. Took 2 carts but I did it thanks to man's best friend Clifford the Big Red Dog.
My experience was the opposite.
949 damage isn't enough to justify getting stunlocked 2 minutes later to AORORORRRROOOOROROOROOOOOROOROOOROOO just as you knock Vaal on his ass and the spammed every 5 seconds thereafter.
Killed the barky spamming bastard first thing, next three hunts took ten minutes and girros paralysis allows for way more than 1000 damage. Lizard bros best bros.
Midday, no haze, no dof no vignette. Haze that cuts your framerate in half was the first thing to go.
Fire mantle, earmuffs and a weapon with high elderseal and pretty fast attacks keep the hell dandruff/roar spam away.
I mean you could just throw poop at the big red dog
You mean "we" can eat again.
meowlotov cocktail is good to equip for the AT vaal if ur running solo, keeps the environment pisscloud away, so not only is it less damage, frame rate is cleaner
She is such a bitch. I've only fought her in regular quests so far, but after many attempts I found that a atk+fire res Djo Hammer build with Heat Guard (clearmind charm) worked for me. If you can stick between her front and hind legs you'll be relatively safe, it seems you can attack her head by launching through her armpits with far-reaching attacks (lvl2 hammer charge in my case). That's the only strategy I could imagine myself killing her in 15 minutes, I've yet to put it to the test though.
How the hell do I get the Azure Starlord armor set?
It's not out yet (on PC at the very least, comes out in like 3 days I think)
The quest you get it from is called "USJ Blazing Azure Stars!" afaik.
Wait for part 2.
Part 1 just gets you the longsword and felyne sets, right?
The first part of the longsword; there's a felyne set? I didn't see it in the list.
it's a lr armor for palico
I almost feel like rank 50 is too low of a requirement for AT Hazaak. I don't think a lot of people have hp regen augments between 50-100 and it feels like a requirement for that fight.
If you've built his other armor you don't need regen on your weapon, and bear in mind PC is getting him after consoles had drachen metarmor for almost a year.
If you have a gobblewigglebro, you don't need much else provided they've got enough stuff to last the fight.
Eh I feel like a lot of people come in terribly unprepared for AT Hazzy, like I've gone in to fight him with other people on a novelty and the few times I went in, people were fighting him with zero miasma jewels and getting absolutely fucked because of it.
It's why I prefer fighting every AT solo first for all of my tickets and THEN going in with people for the fun of it, because relying on that public dice roll might loose me like 10 minutes of working towards killing the thing.
It's probably cause people seem to have always been on edge when they fight Kirin while Vaal has just been a pushover until AT. So they go in thinking more of the same.
They do come in unprepared by as for Kirin it's the same issue with most ATs, they're absurdly buffed but they aren't even kind of balanced, and capcom hasn't gone back to redress that, and that even goes for AT Xeno; they get wrecked to range while wrecking melee at a much higher proficiency level.
As long as you have the logistical throughput in advance, you can literally just spam your way through AT except Behemoth and VHAT, and even they go down to range, just at a much slower pace and by actually forcing said spammer to actually maybe occasionally change position once in a while.
Almost every no cart AT speedrun is owned by a bow or hbg team, and considering that you can quadruple buff Ignition to do four digit damage without sleep on weak points... question pretty much answers itself, and they basically had to turn VH into Jho+AoE to make him a credible threat, and since he has literal audio tells for almost every melee attack, it's still a cake walk for ranged after you know what to look for.
My first run of AT Vaal I went Corona SnS and basically dove into the side and just sat under his belly slashing. Vaal is awful at hitting what's directly under him, and his chest is a weakpoint. If he rears up on his legs, leave and wait for the stink blast to dissipate. His stink laser was basically a free helm splitter + possible mount every time.
Though I fought a lot of Vaal compared to Kirin before I tried AT so I was a little more used to him. So much fang farming.
Feels weird to have a winter event end before Christmas.
Am I the only one that literally just found out the proper way to do the zorah magdaros quest? I had no idea you could jump on him when he gets close to the barrier and attack the magmacores on his face and back.
