At the same time, Amazon can count on the vast majority of its customers paying for an ebook before they incur the (free for them) expense of a 3G data transfer, and most customers are not going to be transferring lots of books onto their Kindle over and over; once a book's transferred it's a safe bet it's not going to need a redownload for a while. I'm pretty sure me playing one Splatfest uses more data than my entire historical Kindle data traffic history. And I didn't spend any additional money for those matches. They're completely different data usage scenarios. Amazon can afford to bite the bullet because it's a running cost of their ecosystem. Nintendo isn't likely going to see sales hustle so well that they can just eat unlimited 3G. (Also you have to imagine that homebrewers would find a way of tethering or some shit. )

Switches could still have a sim card slot and let us share our data plan with it. The online mobile games I play don't have too bad of a latency problem with LTE, I'm sure people would appreciate playing Mario Kart and Fortnite on a Switch on the go rather than on their phone.

I mean, I agree with the idea, it'd be pretty cool to have a 4G-enabled Switch. I just don't see it happening unless they leave a SIM slot for you to bring your own, or, horror of horrors, Nintendo were to make deals with carriers to distribute Switches on each individual carrier with some sort of Switch data plan. The practicalities are such that you'd need to bring the data yourself unless Nintendo charged for a specific and way more expensive 4G Switch Online plan you'd need to have active to play. It could work as prepaid if they actually did it that way.

As likely as it sounds I just can't see them throwing out the "on the go" purpose of the Switch by locking these games out.

Imagine if they do actually announce Mother 3 for Switch, but it's an Online subscription exclusive.

Honestly Dragonborn probably has a higher chance than the Doom Slayer. Dragonborn already uses a sword and shield so he'd definitely be less controversial than an angry green man with chainsaws and shotguns. Plus it will give Todd an opportunity to port Skyrim into Smash.
