So are many other tropes (like a certain popular Rule 63) and yet that one would bother people?
Seeing how they made Peach at the end of Odyssey, they could have easily made Cappy's sister capture Bowser for Peach and switch the roles between her and Mario (similar to the ending we got). Hell, they could've given Peach the entire ending fight too, where she'd fight a Mario controlled by Bowser.
It's not because one thing exists that it has to play out the exact same way (ironic for Nintendo, I know).
I get why but it would just bother nothing more than a loud minority in the corner of the Internet... for like a month or two. Until they find something else to be bothered by.
Also, it wouldn't stop the big tiddy monsters fanart. Hell, this concept art just put more fuel on what was a barely dying fire.
You know what's a real travesty? Not have gotten Zelda + Alien Invasion concept. Or metalhead Ganondorf that would've started as an ally to Link.
Or the Mario proportioned citizens in Donk City.
I hope these get worked on for future games.
They better use that Rosalina look somewhere else. Sucks that she only got a tiny sprite cameo in the final game

Huh, so I guess Marble It Up is going to be a multiplatform game. Sounds pretty good.
The level editor and having best-rated community maps in the console versions of the game sounds exciting as fuck.
Holy jeez, now that's something I definitely want context for.
I'm betting they're going to use the concept in a sequel to Odyssey with how popular it is in Japan.
You reminded me of when amiibo functionality was revealed for the Mario Odyssey amiibo and people thought that Peach was playable because her amiibo unlocked the wedding dress and people thought Nintendo wouldn't possibly let Mario wear it
I've been looking, but can't seem to find anything. I imagine she would have appeared on the Moon at the end of the game, and my hope is playing her storybook theme on the guitar.

YAHAHA! You found-a me!
I think it says something about new donk city band member
Can’t see the tweets, they’ve been taken down. Anyone got a reupload?

I wonder what this is a reference to.

why doesnt this start a trend
Now I'm just saying, but the last time a Nintendo game had a genderswapped version of a main character that only showed up in concept art form, they immediately became a proper character.
do the people who want an hd remake of mario 64 want the ds version content included?
Both might be a good option. DS has a lot of touch screen functions added so that might be better for portable, however 64 was single screen so it might look less janky.
After reading your post I got curious on the differences. I haven't played DS in forever and i've seen more 64 footage lately (with simpleflips and stuff) so I looked it up.

It's actually incredible the work they put in on this port.
I'm still amazed that Wario of all people was playable in it. Nintendo is normally strangely reluctant to use characters like him, DK, Daisy, etc in mainline games. DK couldn't even make a proper appearance in Odyssey when a whole level was named after him
Nintendo has this weirdly territorial thing where the departments seem to actively refuse to use certain characters unless they're in a party or sport-based spin-off. I wonder if it's just a thing amongst the staff, or if there's some producer who comes in and yells at anybody who tries to put Wario in a Mario game.
Wario got in because he wears a cap (a mechanic involves you putting on someone's hat and gaining their movement), and represents heavyness which the metal cap was perfect for. It also was made before the big collusion of Nintendo devs (I think) so they had more chance to be a little weird I'm guessing
I can think of two reasons why:
- They're extremely conservative and want their main games to stick to Peach/Mario/Bowser exclusively because it breaks the ~classic story~ or whatever and maybe fill the gaps with Toads
- They're stingy as all fuck and don't want to pay a single cent to Rare, Camelot or IS
I want to see an M&L game where Wario and Waluigi are a rival duo you fight multiple times during the story
And now and then you get to play as them too, attempting to sabotage your own progress but failing miserably or helping by accident
Reminds me of this old fanart:

You have no idea how much I wished this to be true when I first saw it.
I know there's a online multiplayer mod for Mario 64 but I kinda wish you could make a game mode in it.
Always had this idea of one character being a playable nabbit.
Pros
*Absurdly fast and hard to keep up with
*Can stash items in his bag, can't tell whats in it (coins, enemies or the star)
*No damage from enemies
*Double Jump (no increase in height, just a long jump of sorts)
Con
*Can't jump very high
*Lacks triple jump/backflip/longjump
*Only has his bag out if he's carrying something
Idea is that you get 4-5 players as any of the characters they want and they have to get the star from nabbit. He can outrun them ez every time so players will have to try to find ways to cut him off or gang up and corner him so he doesn't just fuck off in a cloud of smoke. Hitting him causes him to drop whatevers in his bag ontop of you.
The risk aspect is if Nabbit breaks away he can put down the star somewhere hidden, snatch up another item and lead the other players away from it. This leaves the star totally exposed but if you truly managed a swap and picked a good hiding spot then there'd be no way for the chasers to know until they catch you and all they get is a coin or a enemy dropped on them.
Figured it could have some kind of round time limit or something.
Iunno, it's never going to happen even in a modern game but it's a thought that's been with me and I'm tired and bored enough to share.
