Nintendo General - Paid Online is Here, Get Your 56k Modems Ready

I got BOTW and a Switch for $180 due to some Target fuckup. Was pretty happy about that.
I got my Switch and BOTW for $95 on launch day after trading in my Wii U and its few games towards it.
Seeing as pretty much every Wii U game I had is either getting ported to the Switch, or a new version of the same game on Switch, I kinda don't regret this decision yet. I loved my Wii U, but it was starting to collect dust.
It couldn't come soon enough because Mario's art direction from NSMB to 3d World was horrifically boring.
One thing I still use my WiiU for that the Switch can't do yet: media apps.
More than a year into its lifespan and it still not having shit like Youtube is so weird.
Semi-related to art direct, it should be noted that i am still appalled by the removal of the cool and unique npcs designs from the Mario & Luigi game remakes, having instead just be replaced with generic toads.

What the fuck
Hmm... could it be to use the new chip?
You know... one that isn't fully documented and naked to anyone with enough free time to hack the living fuck out of it.
Wasn't this rumored already? That they wanted to make a Switch an updated hardware to slow down/stop hacking?
Feels like it makes sense.
I don't expect any performance boosts or like a "N3DS"-type Switch. Not this soon at least.
It could just be a PSP 2000 situation with a slightly improved version that doesn't invalidate the original.
If my Switch is already going to become obsolete I would be pissed
And boy, did they succeed imo. I was super into Nintendo way back in the day, but around 2011 I just kinda took a break, both because I couldn't afford to buy new consoles or games but also because I felt they were starting to lose their touch with how each Mario looked the same. Then Odyssey came out, and with Galaxy being in at least my top 5 favorite series, I just kinda had to get a Switch for it because it looked so fresh compared to what I'd been seeing the past few years. It completely renewed my interest in Nintendo in general and I've gotten a 3DS since then, catching up on a lot of the games I missed.
Stuff like Online aside, I'm so glad to see the Switch doing well after the Wii U.
Wait what the first one is the highest rated one? The one with rotate-the-stick minigames that burn through your hands?
Shigeru Myiamoto decreed this and he can do no wrong. The only reason I even bothered with Mario and Luigi Paper Jam is because I am a printer engineer and found the title funny.
While I reallyl ike the overall design I can´t get over how the Mario universe is now Sanek with realistic humans. Which gets even weirder since Mario is, you know, a human.
Well, in the end it's gonna be retconned again in the next mainline mario game and the npcs are never gonna show up again (Rip Piantas).
I'm apparently #2 worldwide on Gear Fortress 1's No Buster challenge on ps4
I didn't see a megaman thread or anything but man that feels good. Anyone here playing it?

if nintendo IS planning a switch pro, but doesnt know what theyre doing with it yet, it sounds to me like its still in the R&D part of development
its very unlikely itll be done in a year
Yey, Switch arrived but did not a copy of zelda with it.
So I got a useless grey brick woo.
There's a ton of eshop demos while you wait for zelda, puyo puyo's demo is super generous and almost like a full game in some regards, to quote an example
Just got off the phone with the distributor, Nintendo says they want the entire unit back. No eshop demos for me I guess.
All right, Nintendo, you fixed the boards in Mario Party.

Now fix everything else.
They predicted it
On my way to work today, there were a bunch of Mario Cappy hats on utility poles and bollards. I couldn't snap a picture of it due to driving, but I'll see if I can't snap some later. It was jsut a row of hats on poles.
I'm guessing that they're doing this to fix that hardware exploit involving the right joycon.
From what it looks like according to the Mariko-related stuff we know about, I can see this being more like an Xbox One S scenario where they do add some minor features but nothing big enough to make people want to sell their system if they already have a current one (plus fixing the hardware exploit). What I'm curious about is if they're changing the manufacturing, from what I remember hearing the Tegra X1 has a nonstandard manufacturing process so changing that would probably be good.
Maybe they'll overhaul their black-magic USB-C protocol to a recognized industry standard so that third parties can make chargers and docks that won't brick the thing.
Well I just got a bit of a result, distributor called me again and said rather than shipping it back they will just refund me £50 that would have been the cost of the game.
So I got a switch for £220. Yey.

Not remotely Nintendo-related despite Nintendo Wire posting it. But thought some of you amiibo collectors (such as myself) might find this cool.
They looked like amiibos and I got super excited. Fuck.
These guys also made some for Sony properties iirc, and people actually thought that Sony was gonna make their own amiibos.
