Yeah, I understand all the frustration about Nintendo Online and the stupidity of needing a smartphone, but at the same time it's only $20 per year.
Shouldn't have cost anything, and it wouldn't have had Nintendo not seen the PS4 curbstomp the Wii U so much sales-wise despite making the same move from the PS3's free online.
Friendly reminder that Animal Crossing is a game where minors are trapped, subjugated with crippling debt until their organs are harvested.
$20 a year should get me solid online, amazing voice chat, and the Netflix of retro Nintendo games, not a poor excuse for a smartphone app and paywall for online play.
Real talk though, Katamari was literally the reason I bought a PS2 back in the day, (Weird, I know. I had strange priorities as a kid.) so I'm very glad to see it making it's way to the switch. Many fond memories with that one. I was beginning to worry the series would never see the light of day again.
Can I also point out how they wouldn't even announce the. "special offers" we are supposed to get? I mean knowing Nintendo it's probably only going to be 5% off Nintendo published games. But still it's something we should know before paying for the service.
i hope they also remaster We <3 Katamari, that game is on par with the original
The first "special offer" is some Splatoon 2 gear if you're subbed for a year.
Nintendo will never get a decent voice chat system built into the console without improving their internals. I've seen games already run out of memory on the system as is. Fortnite just killed video capture for the same reason. Only thing they can do, funny enough back to fortnite, is that epic kept it in the game when bringing it to switch. Game developers have to handle everything in their own. And since that connection is killed at any time you leave the game (home screen etc), the line will drop, which I don't think Nintendo wants. So now we have to deal with this bullshit instead. Like, the switch has microphone support. You'd think that if they could do voice chat on the system, they already would have. But it would be nice if more games did integrated voice chat rather than the phone. Pokemon on the DS had damn voice chat, of all things
Metroid Prime Hunters had voice chat in the lobby with friends. I remember thinking this was really cool at the time.
Holy fuck I need to re-read Welcome to Camp.
The best part is that the Steam version is based on the iPhone version
Yup, it’s based on the iPhone version even though they never released it on the App Store.
i've got a suspicion that nintendo might use online exclusivity to sell items like the NES joycons with an anti-scalper mechanism, or have stock set aside (i.e. if they make an n64 classic, have some stock for subscribers only)
Sounds like those physical rewards from Club Nintendo became subscriber-only merchandise that you have to pay for now.
Seeing Katamari back again made me grin super hard, I ended up using my PS3 again in god knows how long to play some again and I got lost in it for a good few hours. It's gonna be awesome to take it on the go.
I really don't know what to do with the online, at the moment, the only online game that i still play from time to time is Splatoon 2, yet i don't play it that often to justify paying for the service. I'm probably gonna hold a bit more till i'm forced to because Smash Ultimate, but still what the fuck.
I haven't touched Splatoon 2 since the Squid vs. Octopus fight. I think I burnt myself out to the point where I don't have much interest in playing until the new update finally drops.
The artpiece showed one giant mansion that went into the sky. So it will probably not feature a bunch of mansions. Also, it's way too early to discuss such things about the game. It was tacked on like Animal Crossing, showing things from early development I'd say.

I really want to know how those controllers are 60 freaking bucks. Did you put HD Rumble in these too, Nintendo?
This is the same company that made additional docks cost an absurd amount of money
https://twitter.com/NESbot_feed/status/1040583899259330560 God dammit Nintendo.
How about they just delete every game you buy during the subscription, kinda like how Apple does it now with movies bought on iTunes.
This deal's getting worse all the time.
This is a stark comparison to Sony who keep your Cloud Saves for at least 6 months after your PS+ subscription lapses and Microsoft who offer free Cloud Saves to everyone regardless of subscription status. It's like they just now found out that people pay online subscriptions now, but didn't realize you can't just transition into that without softening the blow with visible improvements to the fucking service. Everything about this just comes off as half assed.
*Slams hands on desk* what happens when peach gets the new power up
3 new games a month. What a sweet deal. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/129/c6e03ed4-e58b-4416-8c6d-54449ce39104/1536930054166[1].png
Vergeben leak spoilers: The only full blown echo that I've heard about is Ken so far.(...) I really would like to say who the random person said the Square Enix character is. But if it isn't them, I have to deal with a whole other slew of hatred and harassment from people even though I am outright saying I've contacted my people to see if there is anything to what that person is claiming. https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/234547-super-smash-bros-ultimate/77000204/908714553
And that's it, I'm not subbing at all, ever.
