yea well this is a game being run by a guy who halted balance patches because "it's impossible to achieve perfect balance"

was that actually stated somewhere? i had stopped playing at that point so I wouldn't know, but I just assumed it was because development shifted over to the new game. And also having this game be more close to the Console's launch and also not on a doomed console could help drag out post-release support further, hopefully.

I'm at the very least expecting him as a mii fighter skin. Which makes me hope Mii Fighters aren't as restricted when it comes to online play as in Smash 4.

Didn't some people not even want balance patches for Smash 4 because it meant a stable meta wouldn't develop?

Personally I'm hoping Assist Trophies like Alucard or Zero get turned into fighters in future content. Alucard especially has a ton of potential in moveset design. Personally I'm hoping they go the splatoon route of having gameplay stuff like characters and stages as free updates, while doing singleplayer/co op content as expansions.

If I already have a Lenovo Yoga Book (W10, 4GB RAM, Atom x5, 64GB eMMC) as a daily use tablet for stuff like art, web browsing and video watching, would a Surface Go be much of an improvement? Same screen size, but instead of the Yoga Book's (actually kinda nice) halo keyboard and integrated Wacom surface, I'd have to buy a keyboard cover and pen, and draw on the screen instead. The screen of the Go is pretty darn excellent, it's faster on paper, and the build is among the best I've ever felt in a tablet, but factoring in the accessories it's much more expensive, and doesn't have 100% feature parity. I dunno what to do

A echo a week is comical ngl. Like if we got 1 a month that would be pretty monumental.

I wouldn't want them to flood the game with echoes personally. Then it just feels like padding. We have 5 "newcomers" and 4 "echoes" so far. If they did 1 echo for each newcomer (an echo for anyone, not specifically that newcomer) I think that'd be fine.

They know Smash is their ace in the hole with this Online debacle. If they stick to their guns and don't try to make things right (the way they did after that 3DS price cut a while back), they'll totally lean into Smash to win over the naysayers. Nintendo's Online in its current state is garbage that isn't even worth $20, but if being a subscriber means you get all your Smash DLC for free (rather than having to pay $6 a character and $4 a stage), then I wish you all luck with your call for ethical business practices and whatnot VV

At that point you would just be paying $20 for a Smash Bros season pass and get free online with it.

If any game is going to, it might as well be the one which had a tagline of "EVERYBODY IS HERE". Like seriously, even with them having some new competitive perks in SSBU, it's still very much oriented toward casual play and if there is going to be an emphasis on the roster, go nuts with it since there probably won't be a roster like this one in 20+ years barring an enhanced port/remake of them all, licensing and all.

Glad they were able to fulfill his wish in time. You don't often see THIS small of a window between when someone like Chris gets what they wished for and when they pass.

To be honest, I expect Echoes as DLC, but not a single Echo as the focus of DLC: Echo packs and new fighters or stages coming with echoes. Akin to the Mii costumes from last game.

You mean the game that, after 4 years, still is missing Birdo and Diddy Kong, but has the entire Koopaling roster, metal versions of vanilla characters, and 2 each of Inklings and AC Villagers? Mmmkay.

Yeah, sorry about the way I put it in my previous post; I throughly enjoyed the extra cups from DLC and the vehicle parts, and a racing game is nowhere as character-driven as a fighting game. (But I'm still salty about the roster; minor detail through and through).
