Good thing I was already disappointed because of Isabelle's inclusion, that makes this a lot easier to swallow.
With this news I'd say we're getting one more Direct around the end of October or something, detailing the new mode and the last 2 newcomers with maybe an echo or 3 and that's it.
We got 6 characters announced in barely over a month. I'm expecting something in late October-early November detailing the mystery mode, extravaganza-esque trivia, and I'd guess 2 new characters and 2 echoes, then the game goes gold, releases, is a hit, and we get DLC come May or so.
To tell you the truth, if they release the game as it is, I'd be ok with it.

Figured as much. We got 6 characters in somewhat under a month, and I'm expecting a direct by end of October/start of November to talk about the new gamemode, announce that last fighters and call it a game.
after the E3 direct I really only expected 4 more unique newcomers
the august direct kind of threw my expectations for a spin but yeah i'm fine with what we're getting here

What's gets me though, that Vergeben has said that Konami was creating a Castlevania compilation title to corealign with it being it Smash...
But he said that it was going to be for the Switch, and this is going to be a PS4 exclusive

The man has always got things SLIGHTLY off- I'm sure he'd explain it as "I heard there was an exclusive Konami compilation coming and my source assumed it was for the switch".

They really should have waited for King K. Rool and Ridley for the very end. I don't think many people are gonna be satisfied with the last reveals unless its something huge like Banjo and Geno. But signs are pointing to that not being the case.

I think the takeaway from this is Vergeben guessed and got lucky.
I feel like it was necessary to get Ridley out of the way early because of his vocal fanbase and E3 hype, but I agree about King K. Rool. Unless, of course, we get someone else super hype as the final reveal.
Yes and neither of those two come close to Ridley or K. Rool in terms of requests? That doesn't alter my statement that K. Rool would've been a stronger note to end on than them.
I think the Simon + K.Rool reveal should've been the last, I can't think of any characters that would match them.
Yeah we are gonna be left on a high note with shadow, ken, Incineroar, and Steve from Minecraft.
Don't forget Vault Boy! He was destined to show up in Smash Bros. ever since the weird Bethesda game released on the NES.
Has Smash ever revealed a big fan request last? Bowser Jr. and Duck Hunt were the last guys revealed for Smash 4, and Olimar for Brawl. Not saying those guys weren't fan requested but they're
definitely not Mega Man or Ridley-tier.
I would say are still relatively big. Bowser Jr. was them announcing they put all the Kooba kids into one fighter. And Duck Hunt was literally so WTF and unexpected that people were really hyped.
we're probably gonna end on rayman or monhun or dante or something, just something we know would bring the hype to a large group of people or subvert expectations
we have two full months until release, that's enough time for 2 fighters and a couple echoes give or take. I wouldn't expect more than 2:2 though

lmao, it's truly incredible that even after getting some of the most requested fighters in the history of smash people will find a way to bitch about their inclusions in the latest entry. "yeah dog, k. rool and ridley are cool but they should have been announced closer to launch" confirms once again that the smash fanbase can never ever be fully pleased
