"leaks" are starting to get boring now. Everyone is just piggy backing off of Verge and adding 1-2 more characters. At least the guide book leak had some effort put into it because he made up a bunch of unrevealed stages and assist trophies on top of 5 newcomers.

To sort of piggy-back on previous sentiment, if we are to maintain that it's gonna be a thinner crowd of newcomers and we aren't getting much more, it is wild that they had their opening salvos with some of their biggest hype announcements. I mean K. Rool and the Belmonts are cool fan favorites, the first even a minor smash meme, but Ridley? That's what I would've imagined for a final trailer reveal or something. Though I guess Sakurai and co. have a vastly different view of the series and how they do things than how I imagine it.

Yes he got some things right. But a lot of the time he always hides behind "my sources were wrong not me" and backpedaling with "hey I never said I was positive". It's really obvious he has been lucky up to this point.

Regardless of how right or wrong Verg is, he is easily the most credible "leaker" we have, when considering his track record. This does not mean his record is spotless or even close to spotless, but he still has the most reputable "leaks" out of anyone.

Or he might not be intentionally throwing out duds. He might be just throwing out every single potential character name he can reasonably get. Remember even Sakurai would tell Xander Mobus to voice tons of character names to prevent leaks from getting out.

Fair enough, that is pretty common practice. There are even recorded instances of new devs getting entire fake projects to work on to see whether or not they're trustworthy.

I'm sorry but no amount of deflecting is going to save him from his first leak where he said Zero is a playable character and we know for a fact he's wrong- ontop of him missing Daisy, EVERYONE IS HERE, Chrom, Dark Samus, Richter, and K.Rool? Him calling Isabelle as a echo? Time to get off this train.

There is one possible explanation, particularly for the "Isabelle is an echo" and "Zero is playable" thing... Perhaps his sources for these things only had still images to base their own assumptions on. It is literally not possible to determine - without any context - which characters shown standing in the foreground are actually controlled by players, based purely on a screenshot of said characters. If you saw a screenshot of Isabelle and Villager both holding a pot for their dash attack, and that's the only screenshot of Isabelle that exists, what would you think? Isabelle probably has Villager's moveset, ergo echo is the most likely. If there's several pictures of Zero and Megaman interacting, and you've already seen the fact Isabelle is no longer an assist trophy, then again, what are you to assume? It's assumptions the whole way down, but they might not be completely baseless at the end of the day.

This was way back when and I refuse to believe his sources saw [secret screenshots] and not actual footage. That just asks who is sending the source photos for them to fuck up. Like I get it- I'm being honest, people want leaks so they can get excited and hyped and whatnot but Verge has been wrong *FAR* more often than he's been right, and he's been right on insanely safe picks and that's it. This is exactly what I said. When he's wrong he and everyone else blames the sources and not the person leaking the information. On the chance he is right he takes all the credit and everyone happens to forget all the times he was wrong.

Sakurai please make custom announcer DLC. It doesn't have to be of the old announcers, but I'd kill for a Kirby announcer.
