This is the worst time line if Steve can get in before Banjo.

As much as people are going to hate it, Minecraft a is a much more popular and recognizable franchise than Banjo Kazooie. It still sucks especially on a history perspective, but that's just the reality of it.

I mean if his moveset is good I'm fine with it.

On the bright side, animation and model-design would be comparatively low effort, so he wouldn't take up much of a workload and if Phil Spencer is involved, I imagine he'd try bargaining for both Steve and Banjo-Kazooie.

It just would suck if they go through all the effort to get to the negotiation table with them and all Nintendo asks for is Minecraft.

Normally I wouldn't get upset at a character getting in but I don't care how relevant the game is, I'm going to be mad if an ugly-ass placeholder asset gets into Super Smash Bros as a playable character.

Ok, time for more unpopular opinions: Unlike Isabel, Waluigi isn't just a cute wholesome tutorial npc, he is and has always been a playable character for most of the forty games hes been in hes included in and has even been utilized as a main antagonist in Mario Party 3 and Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix Unlike Isabel, Waluigi is more than the purpose he was created for (being a tennis player) becoming the Mario franchise's comedic punching bag and main villain in the above games and again, unlike Isabel Waluigi has an actual motivation which is to spread chaos and ruin Luigi's day out of spite and jealousy. Are you guys ready for a Minecraft Steve alternate costume that is Banjo Kazooie and Master Chief, considering they're skins you can get for minecraft on console?

Honestly as much as I feel like it makes perfect sense to have a stage or even an assist trophy, I can't really imagine how the fuck will they make a playable character work. Like Sakurai and his team are known for making wild stuff work in Smash, but to my knowledge and correct me if I'm wrong, Minecraft's avatar only has like 3 animations, walk/run, swing/throw and crouch. There's almost nothing to even work with there. Like I said before a stage would make way more sense, it would represent the game a lot better than a character would.

High key I want this to be real, Minecraft was a large part of my life and this would make me so happy

The actual player character is probably the least iconic aspect of Minecraft imo, since it's a first person game featuring no dialog or any real interaction with other characters. It's all about the tools and interacting with the environment so a map or maybe items make way more sense

I can only imagine the salt adding in Stevewould generate, if people are this upset about a little dog then god damn. I honestly wouldn't mind as long as they managed to pull off a good moveset for him, I'd much prefer Banjo or even Chief over him but hey as long as he's fun to play

I can't reasonably see Sakurai adding Steve over Banjo Kazooie. Sakurai's proven he takes great pride in representing nostalgic factors in Smash and he will even put his foot down and go "it's either this way or nothing." like what he did with Pacman. I still think Banjo Kazooie is happening as a fighter but we'll also get some Minecraft love in the game.

I used to chuckle whenever someone suggested that Master Chief could possibly be a fighter in super smash bros but then I went back and listened to the Halo soundtrack and now I really wouldn't mind that series being represented at all.
