Oh yeah for sure, but getting directs this fast is to be expected when the game is close to release.
Nintendo of America is sponsoring Big House 8 as well, so maybe there might be a direct announcement that weekend.
Oh yeah, it's this weekend too. Most likely there than in NYCC, which I don't know if Nintendo is there.
I just hope they leave some surprises in the game.
I find it weird we haven't even seen master hand yet
We know nothing about trophies yet. Wonder if they might try something different with them, and if they might somehow make up a bulk of the surprises. That is on top of whatever content might exist within the Spirits mode.
Yeah the next Direct will probably cover that game mode.
The direct will be pretty beefy seeing how we don't know anything about:
Trophies
Stage builder
Any single player modes (Spirits, All-star, targets, home run, maybe Smash Run)
A lot of options that were seen but never shown
And probably more that I'm missing.
It would be really funny having a direct within the next several weeks right after we were told "hey don't expect much more announcements we went to fast"
So is it relatively safe to expect a direct/announcement next week given the changes to the playlist/website?
Maybe an announcement, but its not likely a direct, and I doubt it would be smash related.
What if Trophies are just replaced with poseable models that you can use to make animations like 3D Movie Maker?
I predict Twitter would be flooded with hundreds of "just spaghetti on the rocks huehuehue" videos within six hours of the game's release.
maybe its stupid to be excited over that but I really wanna see what they do with Master Hand and the "lore" so far when it comes to smash bros - how are they planning to out-do Master Fortress? Master Universe?
I actually feel the exact same way. I really don't want any newcomers except Rayman, so I've focused my attention on the current characters and how they develop. Master Hand will hopefully have some dope scenes in Ultimate, even if the devs end up not being too interested in a story driven experience.
Shit, I got excited talking about SpringMan in Smash with a friend.
Like having the charge mechanic and his dodges as B specials along with giving him constant charge after passing a certain %.
His standard B would allow him to send a punch that can be curved, similarly to Pit's arrows.
Down B would allow him to set foot down and ready a charge or if you press a direction while in that stance, SpringMan dodges while parrying like in his game.
Side B would be like the Link's old Gale Boomerang but with the windy boomerang.
Up B is just a standard uppercut but can tether to ledges.
A attacks are short to mid range, quick punches. Some of his directional attacks change his ARMS to weaker types like Poppers or Revolvers.
Side Smash is a straight Nade punch that gains length the more you charge it. Cannot curve but creates a blast at the end.
Down Smash are the electric Megaton or Hammer gloves pounding the ground, similarly to Bowser Jr.
Up Smash is the Dragon, like Palutena's. But you can change it's direction slightly from left to right before it fires.
FS is Rush obviously.
Ok... now I'll go to my corner and be sad because it won't happen. Have a nice day.
It can happen as DLC, I know Nintendo ain't dumb enough to NOT add DLC to this game.
ngl, kinda forgot about DLC for a moment. With so much in Smash already... and more to be announced.
Still, there is not much chance for ARMS to get a rep... Would be a nice surprise tho.
Not that there isn't already enough to be happy with. With or without SpringMan, Ultimate is WAY above any expectations I had.
But if I would have to choose a newcomer, it'd be him. He would feel unique on his own, like Inkling.
Spring Man not being part of the roster is fucking weird, or at least an ARMS representative at all
i mean ARMs wasn't even out when they were deciding the roster, and they couldn't have predicted how well that game would go over, so i really wouldn't call it that weird at all tbh
...They would have known ARMS was in development as a first party title.
ARMS didn't last that long anyways...
We don't know exactly when ARMS started development, so far all we know, the roster for Smash could have been decided before there were an substantial character designs. Also again, this was a brand new IP and I don't think Sakurai would add something that new to Smash that hasn't even gotten any ground yet (ala Inklings in Smash 4)
" and they couldn't have predicted how well that game would go over"
I would totally take Springman instead if the last newcomers in the base game are what we think they are.
If Inkling wasn't even added as DLC in Smash 4 I really wouldn't hold your breath for Spring Man being added when ARMS is nowhere near as popular as Splatoon to be honest.
oh yeah for sure, but there's no getting around the fact that every Smash game has to have a new Pokemon rep. It's just tradition, and also wouldn't surprise me if it was something ordered by Nintendo lol.
also, speaking of newcomers, the Smash reddit is doing the finale of it's fan-voted most-wanted newcomer poll. Pretty neat to see who the new top 3 most wanted newcomers are among hardcore Smash fans now that Ridley and K Rool are out of the way

I missed out on Golden Sun, but absolutely agree on Banjo and Geno. Here's hoping all of these make it in as DLC.
This might be a close race. Lets see who the Smash community really wants that we won't get for some reason.
I think the reason why Inklings weren't added as DLC for 4 was because they were already planning out Ultimate when the final batch of DLC for 4 were being developed. They probably figured it would make sense to save the Inklings to be revealed in the new game than develop them for the older one.
Also guessing that trying program their ink mechanics into 4 would probably more difficult than from the ground up in Ultimate.
I feel like that was mostly because they accepted the Wii U's fate and wanted to save Inkling as a hook for the next Smash game. If and when Ultimate does well, Nintendo will have a lot more incentive to add more obvious picks.
this whole contest has been filled with close races. Skullkid vs Lloyd was decided by two votes, as was Crash vs Geno lol. Fucking ridiculous.
