Like I admit Isaac would have a movement pool if he got in, I just don't like his games and I think he's boring because they forgot to give him a personality and just subbed in a nodding smiley face instead. He's just kind of around in his own games. That and I'm bitter about my wishlist getting nothing right other than Simon/Richter
Me: "...highly regarded by many as one of the best RPGs ever made".
Hello, resident Golden Sun fan here. I replayed the games last month and I still like them. If Golden Sun never did anything special then find me ten turn-based JRPGs that have Golden Sun's level of environmental puzzles without naming Lufia. While the character and plot writing might deserve the shit it gets it has a very fleshed out world with a ton of merits unto itself. The mind read ability alone adds a ton to the game. The combat system also has a lot of interesting ideas and good concepts such as the class system let down by poor balance and low difficulty. There's a very good fan rebalance patch that fixes this and the combat is very engaging and above most turn based JRPGs I've played when you can't just summon rush your way through the game but that's besides the point since that's an external fix. Tldr Golden Sun might not be for everybody but it's rather good at what it does and it has a lot of individual merits that people ignore to focus on its other shortcomings. People talk about how the cutscenes are too wordy but totally ignore the enormous amount of detail put into its world and locations plus puzzle design. I've played a ton of JRPGs from every era and there are extremely few like Golden Sun. In addition, it's a very good beginner's JRPG and many people remember it fondly as such. Also with "dude anime swordsmen lmao" you should come back with somebody this actually applies to because if Isaac's moveset used his sword for more than his tilts then something has gone horribly wrong. Please don't confuse "I don't want this character because I don't care about this game" with "therefore they would be a bad character".
One thing for sure is that all the votes from smash fans is bringing interest back into the series. Most people haven't even heard of the game series.
As I said or... tried to anyway, I think Anime Swordsmen is just a reference to those that fall in line with the Fire Emblem Crew who have samey attacks even if they are mechanically different. Just swipes with little to separate them and unified by the down-b. Like right now there's punchers and swordies with like... two - three gun users. The punch side doesn't get shit because all of their b moves have strong visual flair and speak volumes about a characters personality. The fact that Mac's B's are nothing but punches kind of highlight how diverse they are. With the Fire Emblems outside Robin and most of Corrin it's... all visually samey and doesn't get much character across other than Ike's VA being a huge ham.
I mean, the reason why a lot of the FE character's movesets look samey is because 4 of the 7 characters are literal Marth clones. Other than that, I really don't understand how you see Ike's moves and think they look just like Marth's (sans counter). Ike clearly has heavier animations and movements compared to Marth's more swift and "elegant" movements. Also, besides counter, all of Ike's special moves look and function nothing like Marth's.
Saying that FE movesets look samey (sans the echos) is like saying all of the Star Fox characters look samey. Hell, you would actually have some kind of point (not saying it's a good one) with that considering all their specials actually look very similar to each other.
Ike's neutral B is as similar to Marth's as Roy's is. However, the overall feel of those 3 is VERY different. Marth spaces, Roy rushes down, and Ike punishes.
I definitely have? I've never touched the game or even saw someone play it, but I definitely knew it existed.
Definitely - I'm hoping that even if Isaac doesn't get into Smash, they at least rerelease Golden Sun or something. I had no idea the game was so well regarded before this.
If Isaac dose come back as a Assistance Trophy, I hope they fully develop him like they did with Alucard Because even as a non-fan, I felt like fans got blue-balled with Issac only attack was the hand thing
If he got in his grab would almost certainly be picking you up with a big magic hand and smacking you around and that's worth it alone.

I wouldn't put it past the guy running the twitter to be aware of Nintendo related memes.
man why does everyone have to plead for an echo for every character they want, half the time it's some character that nobody gives a shit about, probably including themselves, but for some reason they think that there absolutely has to be an echo and they have to dog and reach for one just ~because~ its like "YEAH I WANT [x iconic character] IN SMASH!!! YES!! AND ALSO [literally who] AS AN ECHO!!! YEA!!!" like cant a character just exist on their own it's so silly, smash speculation is so silly
that smash newcomer fan poll finished today https://i.imgur.com/qrL8QvJ.jpg and banjo is right where he belongs
I'm just happy my choice was even on the list https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1822/867ca2a1-211f-4e50-aa33-22dbac404dd5/Untitled.png
Jesus, Banjo might have won but that's quite a big vote count difference with Isaac there.
"Sora voters were the ones most likely to vote against the characters that defeated them, with almost 60% of them voting against Isaac in all subsequent match ups." Sora fans confirmed salty as fuck lol "The most heavily botted character by far was Banjo, with almost half of all botted votes (Over 40,000) being submitted in his favor." what a fantastic waste of your time jfc but yea it's good to see Banjo still has a huge amount of support. Between that, the characters popularity at the time of the Smash ballot, and Sakurai's recent discussions with Microsoft, I'd be floored if they really skipped out on bringing him in for DLC. That'd be such a huge waste.
Well yea hence nobody is surprised about that lol. It's just funny it nearly all went to the character that won anyways.
If Isaac ever actually got in I would unleash the biggest nut this world has ever seen. Too bad it's almost next to impossible considering how irrelevant the series is these days. The amount of fan cry would have to astronomically huge for it to even be a possibility.
I'm glad Phoenix is as high up as he is. There is a demand for him!
I'm just glad Travis is on the list.
Ehhh, idk. Ice Climbers and ROB sure weren't relevant when they got added in just for the hell of it, so exceptions can be made. And even tho the DK series is still going strong, K Rool hadn't been in a game in over 10 years when he got added purely because of fan demand, whereas Isaac's last game was apparently 8 years ago. Plus like I've said before, the character was popular as fuck in various polls run at the time of the Smash ballot, and ofc there's that tweet from Sakurai where he had the characters posed in such a way that it'd look like a Golden Sun fight scene. And despite all that popularity, they still haven't brought him back as an assist trophy (granted he was absent in Smash4 as well, but that was pre-ballot). personally i feel he's pretty likely as DLC tbh. we'll seeeeeeeeee
Isaac is more likely than Banjo
Of course, since he is anime sword fighter nr 14
Dude absolutely. That was the biggest surprise.
He has been a Nintendo exclusive forever till recently. He deserves it.
