Every person saying they want their character in isn't new. And if Sora gets added I better get Kingdom Hearts 1-3 on the switch.

Sora in Smash, as someone who doesn't play Kingdom Hearts, would be wonderful.

Well, even if Banjo doesn't get in, there's still DLC - and I'm not just saying that with a blind sense of optimism. If Minecraft content is in, that means Nintendo and Microsoft have already come to the table once to talk Smash content, and that they have the networking/good will/etc to come back to the table. IE, think of Snake returning and Simon Belmont being added as a newcomer. Now, imagine a similar scenario with Steve for the base game and Banjo for potential DLC.

Yes! could also just be in agreement that he'd love that as well as opposed to a confirmation, but the latter is also a possibility considering he deleted the tweet.

Likely, he realized the context made it seem like a confirmation instead of agreeing, and backpedaled to make people not mistake it.

My older brother is going to be pretty fucking disappointing if Steve gets in instead of Banjo and Kazooie. Apparently, he played that game a lot at his friend's house and is very nostalgic of it.

With how much attention to detail Sakurai puts into third parties, trying to make them resemble source material as much as possible, Steve seems almost impossible to me. He is just too limited in the way he moves, it'd be a nightmare to try and come up with a varied moveset without relying on bendy limbs and taking creative liberties. A stage would fit really well though. Also the "leaker" is a total bullshitter, he also suggested a Granblue character then immediately backpedaled by saying that Cygames and Nintendo are in contract talks right now which is just something a leaker would not know.

This whole thread reads like a goddang XCOM trailer, just redactions and classified information everywhere

My bro, Wii Fit Trainer is literally a character that exists for the same reason. If a grayscale fitness coach can punch around with Italians, then an anthropomorphic shih tzu can, too. That being said, Chibi-Robo would be nice.

The only tiny robot I want is a Ray Mk 2 or some other Custom Robo representative. Even just getting the assist trophy back would be nice.

So do people actually think Master Chief has a chance of getting in, or is that just a meme? Because there literally hasn't ever been a single Smash character to date who doesn't have at least one connection to Nintendo. Banjo/Kazooie? Yeah, definitely. Minecraft? I'd be shocked if we got a character, but I could see an assist trophy or something, yeah. Doomguy? Too violent to pull off with any degree of authenticity, but at least he's had a couple games on Nintendo consoles before, so fuck it, he's got a chance. Expecting Master Chief to even have a percent of a percent of a shot of getting into Smash is the same as expecting someone like Kratos or Sackboy or Sly Cooper to get in. When people start seriously speculating about Master Chief is when I feel like we've officially run out of things to talk/speculate about.

Represents a series that started on NES, had six games plus spin-offs on consoles, several GB games that spun off into SaGa and Seiken Densetsu, and more. Spin-off upon spin-off on Nintendo consoles after the ugly breakup between Square and Nintendo finally ended. Tactics Advance, Crystal Chronicles, the list goes on. And Cloud specifically was picked because he's the most popular character in the series, Sakurai said they could have picked SNES characters but didn't. Oh but Master Chief, the series that has never been on Nintendo consoles and will never be on Nintendo consoles short of some massive market shift is totally on the same level as Cloud.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sakurai added a "fuck the rules I want this character in" if this is his last Smash in the main seat.

Master Chief almost had a DS game. He is like a shoe in at that point.

that halo DS demo wasn't done by bungie or microsoft iirc, it was a proof of concept thing someone else made that might not have even been shown to bungie/microsoft. that said, master chief is someone i see having some chance tagging along with banjo if nintendo and microsoft really want to make an alliance, because i don't think anything would show it quite as strongly as that. third likeliest character (after banjo) to come from microsoft after minecraft or another rare representative.

I would absolutely love Conker and Banjo to be announced at the same time. I feel like the world would stop for a few seconds.

God I didn't even CONSIDER THIS. Instead of James Bond as a character, just have Conker with some James Bond parody moves alongside his other moves.

Master Chief for smash just makes me think about decade old flash movies, and the general hype there was for Halo 3 back at the time. Chief isnt as popular now as he used to be, sadly, but I bet the reaction would be absolutely fucking wild if he got in, all that nostalgia of those times being dug right up like that.

If multiple outfits for Mii Fighters become a thing again, I hope there's an outfit for the Mii SwordFighter that basically just a varsity jacket, jeans, converse shoes and a lightsaber. I'd absolutely fucking love to be able to play as a future 90s jock.

Master Chief was a big if not the biggest gaming icon when the Halo games were first coming out. Halo put Microsoft on the map in the gaming world.

It would be the best choice as a first person shooter rep if Doomguy doesn't happen.

master chief is one of the top FPS icons and an overall majorly iconic gaming character (and probably the biggest american gaming icon, too) he's well deserving of a spot if they wanted to do it, it's just a matter of nintendo and microsoft deciding if they *want* to do it.
