Master Chief isn't as violently brutal as Doomguy and could easily get away with using just Covenant weapons and explosives, so he would have a better chance at getting in in that regard.

If a Halo game can't get on the PC in over a decade I don't see how Master Chief would ever end up in a Nintendo game. The only crossovers for Halo I can think of are microsoft properties.

That plus the possibility of 3 or 2 and a half Square Enix reps.

iirc halo's had crossovers with dead or alive and rocket leauge in terms of non-microsoft stuff, so it's not entirely out of question.

honestly if they pulled from story mode and not just the classic Steve model I would die. Minecraft in smash is my current favorite madcap theory because I could totally see it happen. Herobrine echo?

Technically, Master Chief is in the Nintendo Switch version of Minecraft, alongside the Banjo-Kazooie and Super Mario content.

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet. But there is a leak going around where a guy claims that he got a hold of a copy of the Smash Bros Ultimate game guide. And lists a whole bunch of stuff he claims are in the box. He claims he will post pictures. But it all sounds fake as hell. This is what he claims the rest of the characters are. so with the new DMC5 trailers also confirming the presence of the character named V, and the now about a month-old DMC5 leak stating Dante would be in smash lining up with everything that's happened so far involving the game, it's looking more and more likely that he's going to make it. I find it hard to believe that this individual would happen be right about everything, and then include an entirely fabricated smash leak involving the character. If he gets in you'll be able to put Featuring Dante From The Devil May Cry Series & Knuckles on the box and have it not be a joke.

You just know if DLC gets a second ballot that Knuckles will be at the top just for that alone if he really is in.

Anyone think we’ll be getting Monster Hunter as a character? I mean, I wouldn’t suspect it so much if Rathalos were just an assist trophy, but they mentioned it was some kind of boss too? Every boss character in the previous games that were tied to other series always had a rep amongst the roster, so I’m betting a lot on the Hunters being playable.

Actually, now that I took another good looks, it reminds me more of SF4's Ken design aside from the shading that game uses and won't be surprised if he's based on the trophy design in Smash Wii U.

I could see a Monster Hunter character as a dlc character. They seem to just be pushing it as just a Rathalos AT and boss fight at the moment. Think if there was a playable character in the base game or a non-boss fight stage they would have shown it in the August direct instead of just Rathalos. Wouldn't be surprised if the MH mii fighter costume from last game carried over as a costume choice in the base game.

It was discussed on the last few pages as well as the previous thread, so let me reiterate- when talking to Famitsu about how they choose smash characters, Sakurai never mentioned their connection to Nintendo as one of the reasons. What gets a character in is their popularity, their connection to their series, how relevant their series is, and how unique they are (both being on their own and compared to other characters). In short, Master Chief has more of a shot than y'all think. Hell, Dante has a big new game coming up- Capcom could have brought that up early to the smash team for some easy marketing, and Sakurai thought he fit enough of these categories to agree. We won't know until they show us all the characters, but the rules are a lot more lenient than y'all think. (Sidenote- yes, Geno would be unlikely under these guidelines, but Ultimate seems to have added the rule of "what would make long time fans of the franchise happy", so who knows at this point)
