so i was playing with that dumb skin preview thing, and if you don't know, previewing an unusual weapon first lets you see combos with that effect
anyways, with that in mind, i thought "i wonder how a cool macaw masked would look" and got this

Why did they allow Engineer in Ghost Fort to be allowed to build anywhere during the boss encounter and you can't even destroy their buildings till afterwards?

Don't bother with unlocked class crates this year! They don't give legacy halloween effects or the new ones, they're stuck using the old pool of effects and don't give out anything but. Shame, but, good to know! I spent $50 experimenting and managed to get a definite answer with this

It is. So very few of the cases have hats that are enticing enough to consider unboxing. It's such a restrictive and pitiful puddle of hats that can get the new effects, meanwhile an ocean of other hats don't get the chance, reminds me of Scream '15 where all those wicked cool halloween effects are trapped only to ever be unboxed and applied to that small, small set of hats.
Rab confirmed with Jill that this is intentional for whatever reason. I don't get why they'd open the Pandora's Box in the past of letting legacy effects and brand new effects be opened in any and all cases if they aren't going to bother carrying that through, it just sets up the next time you don't to be super disappointing in comparison
Still wish they'd just make unusual unboxes unusual fiers instead so we can just pick the hat we want to use the effect on. Like it's a paint. Then they could restrict it to the Halloween Cases all they want yet still making it more enjoyable to use.
This is one of the main things that always make me cross my fingers whenever we submit War Paints to the workshop, ahhhh
Currently, we have to upload them as .zips in a weird, roundabout way, and we also have to mod currently in-game paints to kinda showcase what we want to do with these textures overall. The idea of skinned weapons have been around for a few years now in TF2, and something like this makes me reeeeaaally wish we had a proper tool for War Paints along the lines of what cs:go has. It would be a lot of fun to play with!
I want to be able to tell certain files what sorta sheen something has, if I want to orient my textures straight-on vertically/horizontally, or to be able to control how many textures I have on a whim and where to put possible stickers. It becomes messy in my head after a bit to remember if is better to mod my idea on Civil Cervant mk. II or Macaw Masked after awhile. There’s so many files we have to replace and find just to get the idea across 😭
I thought I remembered hearing that controls like the ideas above were considered at some point, but I guess that’s either still in the works or not something they would currently like to do.
It’d save so so much time for Workshoppers if some sort of tool could be made for all of this, it’d definitely save -tons- of time on their end, too. One could only hope

Why are people clamouring for new weapons anyway? A lot of the last few updates, the new weapons were at best lukewarm, at worst just downright terrible for the game. Do I need to really get into weapons that have been utterly pointless since inception, and probably shouldn't have been added? I thought we got over this circlejerk. A lot of these were completely and utterly pointless (and still are), only got better with far, far, FAR later updates (minimum 3 years later, where they might as well have been a new weapon) or have been completely broken since their inception (And still are!) In hindsight, it was a horrible, bloated update that added way too much to the game without much thought as to the implications or consequences. This is what happens when people beg for weapons to be added without sufficient playtesting and internal input to be released.
Scream Fortress afaik never had actual weapons or balance changes, only reskins if you want to really stretch it. The fact they added 5 new community maps is decent enough. I won't say Valve isn't neglecting this game but with the resources they have I don't want a rush of new content for the sake of it. Adding new mechanics takes time to make sure they are actually well thought out, playtested thoroughly, bugtested, and healthy for the game. Throwing shit at the wall gets you the uber update.

Here's how the tank looks when it has the unused snow texture applied on it - seems to me that UV is all fucked up, so they must have made this texture for a completely different model
Maybe someone could shoot Rick May an email and simply ask him if they specifically casted him for JUST the tank, or would that be too straight forward?

Honestly, why do people want more weapons? The game has pretty much every weapon you could ever want for any situation.
several classes like heavy lack gameplay-style variety in his primaries which however is found in a lot of other clases (see: demo, pyro)

Well yeah, we're going into November without any major update in 2018. Why would I be happy? Sure, I'm pleased that they didn't spend time on a gimmick, but there isn't suddenly any new information to inspire me with condidence in the team.

Okay, so now that we have an anthropomorphic turtle in the game full-time, can we please do away with this deprecated restriction system? It simply isn't fair that you can walk around as a turtle, but I can't wear a simple medieval helmet with horns.
