Carnival of Carnage is one of the worst maps in the game.
Hellstone can be even worse at times.
Totally forgot Hellstone was a map. Carnival and Hellstone are the worst maps of halloween. Love the halloween theme, but in play they are a true pain in the ass.
I can agree that Hellstone is a shitfest but I enjoy playing Carnival of Carnage, I think the minigames are quite fun.
Welp, Halloween dragged me back into the game and it's still a pretty gud time when the stress over contracts don't get to me (tho I'm trying anyway.) Also helped that I found stntrading.edu as an efficient and versatile bot-assisted trading site, was able to liquidate most of my non-Marketable items and Genuine version Xeno Scout cosmetics to make a heck of a killing in refined to start picking and choosing items to pimp my loadouts again (I was amazed my old tradable Engi-Fly mask was worth nearly a key and a half now! That's a boost!) I'm thinking maybe doing a few Mann Co buys purely for rewarding the community makers (Map Stamps, community-made taunts, the latest Halloween key). How much money are they making through those sorts of purchases these days? Don't really want to be paying Valve themselves to an overbearing amount for the fan work.
I just can't like Carnage because the minigames put you on third person and how horrible the bumper cars handle. It feels like the game takes control out of me and adds a layer of "wacky fun" that ends being annoying. I'm glad I finished the contracts, so I can unlist that map from the casual queque.
I'm guessing the Sniper doesn't get his SMG either? The Heavy is still probably the best figure from that line.
I honestly think Maple Ridge Event is the worst. It's a map made for 4v4 thrown into a 12v12 setting with pumpkin bombs and crit pumpkins added into the mix. Trying to play Spy there will actually make you miserable. I bumped into the cloaked enemy Spy while also cloaked multiple times in 10 minutes, the map is that small. I've seen mediocre maps in this game, but rarely do I have an experience in TF2 that makes me think "wow, this is actually bad, and I'm not sure why it's in the game". That map did it for me. The bumper car game at the end of Gravestone is also not good at all. The track is so awkward and forces you to move at a snail's pace in order to not fly off the edge, and the way it's laid out makes it so you don't even know what the goal is until you're within a few feet of it. Plus, it feels shitty to make it to the end as BLU, only for RED to win the round because of it.
Not even his knife either.
At this point I'm assuming whoever was working on the TF2 line at NECA is messing the figures up out of spite. Either that or laziness.
Forget everything i said about this update; I UNBOXED AN UNUSUAL- AND A REALLY NICE ALL CLASS UNUSUAL WITH THE BEST EFFECT THIS YEAR GOD DAMN https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/211556/e2d6b29a-3d82-4bfd-80aa-b31f286fe345/F35EBF44-3407-4F69-AE23-429156841583.jpeg
Because of you guys I'm gonna unbox again god damn you.
Unbox the cases that contain large amounts of mercenary grade all class hats. NGL I threw like $24 down the drain before hitting the jackpot.
It makes me wonder if the unbox rate is changed for Halloween.
Why do we still not have a fix for the tank taunt?
The comedy here is that there's an entire set of (for the most part, really expensive) Strange Haunted items that ONLY LEVEL UP ON THAT FUCKING MAP, and in fact have two secondary counters for it as well. I remember being in voice chat with a fellow root admin on the group of servers I run and hearing shock in his reaction "SD Doosday Event?!?" SD Doomsday is no prize itself, and turning it into a Halloween map does it no favors. Two of the three underworld game modes are fun (fuck the falling floor one) but they happen too infrequently and the rest of the time it's Shitty Doomsday with Annoying Merasmus Spells. Have you priced out a Strange Haunted Beep Man or Hundkopf recently? Oww, my ass. The silver lining in this dark cloud is that the Strange Haunted items are in fact strange cosmetics, and it's possible to put up to 3 strange parts of them. The really sad thing here is that as bad as Scream Fortress 2014 was, it was the last really good one. Since then, it's only gotten worse. Ghost Fort got ruined (RIP spells). Community servers got killed off (RIP in general, but specifically community Ghost Fort servers). Valve made a bunch of dumb economy decisions (2016's dual unbox rate, the deluge of unusual taunts) . We're now saddled with the stupid contract system, which is a great way to hate the entire event. The matchmaking system does NOT lend itself to contract completion and often punishes users trying to do so. While I mostly like the 2018 event unusual effects, there are too many re-colors. There were no new effects in 2017 at all. 2016's were fine, but oversaturated (in numbers unboxed, not hue). 2015's unusual effects were only okay. The great years were 2011 to 2013. Those effects are the most desired ones in the game. Halloween is the most important time of the year for TF2. That time has been in steep decline for years now. The Carnival of Carnage was the canary in the coal mine that things were about to get a lot worse.

I unboxed a Scream Fortress War Paint case and I got both a Decal Tool and the Ghost War Paint.
After so many years of not playing, I'm having a blast. It's like a rush of nostalgia and just pure fun. I suck fucking ASS after not playing for so long, but it's even fun to suck. The familiar environments, the voice acting, the classes, the gameplay, the ragdolling, the sense of community. It may not feel like pre-2011 TF2, or the "golden age" of the game, but I haven't been this happy playing a multiplayer game in a long time. Even when I was playing Overwatch with friends, it was fun, but it felt kinda empty after awhile. A lot of the classes didn't sit right, and the maps weren't really that interesting. This feels right at home tbh. I don't know how long this feeling is gonna last, but I'm really happy for now.
https://i.imgur.com/EqLbiGH.jpg I hope "ghosts" includes "the tank taunt."
woopee I just finally cashed out my tf2 inventory, someone paid like 200$ more for my unusual than it's actually worth on marketplace.tf. got 450$ post-fees straight to paypal, that'll fund my next iseries or copenhagen games or MAYBE even help me go to rewind but probably not it's a bit expensive to go all that way thanks mr geel, very cool!

TF2 update for 10/22/18 (10/23/18 UTC) Via HLDS: Fixed a common crash related to the Panzer Pants taunt Fixed competitive match history failing to load Fixed an issue preventing some players from being able to activate Halloween Contracts Here's hoping.
all of your complaints vanished because you unboxed money? you have no integrity
I don't think they'll ever fix Spectral Shimmer like how they never fixed Neo Tokyo
i'm glad the game finally has a proper tank model so people will never have to use again the awful piece of shit i textured a while ago.
They gave this patch its own little name, it seems. Meet our newest major update, the Insured Tank Update.
