4x huntsman is like, so fast that it can't even be done because it outdoes source's capability.
how do you dodge something so fast when your player speed is comparatively that of a retarded slug? you don't.
you did not fix the problem. It's still there except now sniper gains some very limited room for error ability.
I cannot find any documentation on projectile speed limits in source so I wouldn't know, otherwise the best opportunity i'd say for low mobility classes to dodge is to crouch, its a relatively fast movement where if the sniper were aiming for the top of your body would miss. 4x huntsman speed might be a bit extreme but I was using 2forts bridge sightline as a way to gauge projectile speed and that's what seemed satisfactory to me. 3x might be a bit more in the realm of possibility.
Still think just nerfing the Sniper rifle base damage or giving his rifles a (very minor) fall-off damage nerf would be the most sensible and easy to implement nerf to the Class. It's more of a "just how much do we take away" issue at that point. Do we still want Sniper to be able to quickscope certain Classes like he can currently? Do we want him to be able to quickscope any class? Do we want a fully-charged shot to be able to take down even an overhealed Heavy? Do we want the charge-time required to take down that overhealed Heavy be longer as compensation?
THere's no reason to change only how the Sniper rifle's projectile works in an effort to nerf him. Adding features only designed to nerf a specific Class just muddy ease of access - how many players in a specific control group would be able to tell you that the Heavy also has an accuracy issue even after revving up that requires 2 seconds revving time for the aim to be fully accurate?
People being bad at the class doesn’t make it balanced.
Pub sniper being defeatable through the lack of skill of he or teammates is not at all a reflection of where the class is. Pub scout is easy to fight against too- just build five sentries in a choke point and bam, not even clockwork could solo that.
The difference in aimbot (and reason why aimbotters pick) sniper vs heavy is that even with perfect aim heavy can still be killed or defended against, because he has in-combat weaknesses that serve to check his power.
Sniper does not. His reload and aim requirement are the two things keeping him in place, and he otherwise has no other exploitable counterplay downsides insofar as combat goes.
Yes, contra, you have seen cheaters and even high level 6s players play him as a midline combat class. I know that’s not realistic 24/7 in casual but come on now, that’s ridiculous.
Oh. And if you want to talk pubs, I’ll get three of my competitive sniper buddies and me to stand around in a bodyshot-only herd, and focus you down on the enemy team.

Contra has already fought against bodyshot Snipers ensconced in a blanket of safety. I did that to him a week or so ago.

I've been on this forum long enough to A. know that most people here know better, and B. Metaru is just being a sour ass because he has a crush on me specifically or something. Because that was an airblast that caused that effect. There's an enemy Pyro there.
Airblast is still really broken, just in different ways now. Yesterday I walked up behind a Pyro as Spy and he airblasted, and while I was behind him it somehow hit me and pushed me over his head in the direction he was looking. Then I died from his Scorch Shot that he was aiming at somebody else. I don't even know if he realized what happened, as it was near a chokepoint.
Shame they added all those commands to change different aspects of it just for it to stay the same for a year.
I think what I meant to say was.. Even without the sentries the airblast can push you to those extremes if the scenario is right.
About the sniper issue, what if they made it so that you can't get headshots while your aim is moving at a really high speed and for a short time afterwards
This would make it possible to jump even aimbot snipers and would probably not be noticeable 99% of the time, except how it would make insane flick shots impossible (but then again, should they even be possible?)
I was referring specifically to pub sniper because you were responding to a player returning to pubs after a long absence. I seriously doubt he was being matched against fucking Thalash or someone of similar caliber. The problems he were speaking of were common problems for players who are rusty and don't have their gamesense anymore, it has nothing to do with the rising power level of Snipers or what-the-fuck-ever.
Obviously Sniper is the better aimbot pick over Heavy, I wasn't arguing that. I was saying that you and Exor are constantly speaking as if Sniper should be balanced around aimbot capabilities, which (believe it or not) exceed peak human. Even taking the highest-level play into account, especially taking it into account, Sniper is not the unstoppable god you repeatedly make him out to be. He's uniquely overpowered in Highlander in a way that he isn't in 6s or pubs.
Reload and aim requirement aren't the only limiting factors on Sniper. There's the fact that he has no mobility to speak of, the fact that scoping in pretty much eliminates his situational awareness and ability to respond to immediate threats, and the almost complete inability to actually fight back if he's engaged in close range. "But Contra, he's never engaged in close rang-" if you're playing Heavy, yeah, he isn't. Soldier, Scout, Demo and even Spy sometimes can all close the distance and fuck a Sniper without being killed.

Concerning the focusing you were doing, you killed me like twice and the first time was by surprise. Every other time I closed the distance and you just ran away into spawn, and according to you that shouldn't ever happen with a decently-skilled Sniper. I also...wasn't focusing you, I was fucking around on Scout. If I knew you were going to use dumb pubstuff as an argument, I would have gone Soldier and blasted at you at Mach 5 until you stopped.

I still play tf2 on a regular basis. next year I'll probably hit 10 years of the same, but everyone knows my stance so far.
I'm happy how the game it is so far and how has it been. some stuff has to be fixed and some stuff boils down to personal preferences. either case, even if valve oficially called tf2's support complete (as in no more major updates) then I'd probably still play it. I beieve the only thing left for me to do related to tf2 is to meet the tf2 team itself, and that is just a goal on its own.

what makes the massive new airblast knockback different to
A: getting attacked by sentries mid-air while crouching/even sometimes without crouching and getting blasted to the end of the universe
B: rocket jumping while taking explosive damage from another source and getting blasted to the end of the universe
C: Taking explosive damage two from sources as a class that isnt demo, soldier, heavy, trying to surf but it instead flying to the end of the universe
or are we exclusively complaining about the slippery slope
