You know, I have no reason to think they'd be cut but if they straight up removed trophies from Ultimate I'd be a little upset. Haven't heard about them at all and there's not even a screenshot so just had the thought cross my mind.
Yes, actually. Of course, there is a a fair amount of odds toward it not happening, but I suspect that's their plan.
I just realized. It's really weird that Springman isn't one of the newcomers. Is Arms just not that popular? It seems like Springman (with a Ribbon Girl alt of course) would be a perfect addition to the series.

Since they're having a Nintendo Treehouse with Smash after the Direct, its possibility they're going to show the "Spirits" gamemode more or just new fighters.
iirc the consensus is arms is just too new, since it was probably early in development when ultimate's roster was decided.
Springman can be potential DLC however.
Even disregarding how recent it was, I'm just not sure ARMs was the same level of success as Splatoon was before it.
Unfortunately, yeah. ARMS has pretty much become one of those “small, but dedicated fanbases” types of games. That’s not a bad thing, but it’s nowhere near as popular as, say, Splatoon.
Also, as eliktroniq above me said, it’s also just too new of a series to get a fighter at this point. It might be possible with DLC later on, but as part of the Launch roster? No way.
ARMS was a million-seller, definitely a candidate for the roster.
However, as was said, it's too new. Super Mario Galaxy isn't even present in Brawl for similar reasons.
To give an idea, ARMS just passed 2 million sales as of this past quarter, Splatoon 2 just passed 7.

To try and connect with youths because that's how companies become more than just companies and integrate themselves into the daily person's life. But that's something I'll be discussing in an essay, not in this thread.
But yeah, none of these social media accounts are anything beyond more advertising campaigns, even if they hire talented young'ns to make cool video game art with their packaging or to make funny jokes and memes.

The new narrative is now the characters that appear in the leak are actually assist trophies.
Why would a bunch of ATs appear alongside the playable characters anyway?
Why would assist trophies now be on the mural if they weren’t on there before?

I don't buy it. I really don't see how it's possible for Ultimate's roster to be better than the one promised by the banner, unless it has everyone present in the leak PLUS MORE.
Maybe we're gonna get 20 characters on Thursday. /s

Can all these insiders please just go away already. I am so tired of them pushing their opinions as fact and piggybacking off each other.
I've been saying it might happen for a while now. Same reason why we might not get a fully fledged story mode but instead we get more like Melee's Adventure Mode/Smash Run etc. Trophies are a low priority addition that are ultimately easy to add and easy to do without. Since Brawl they were just recycled 3d models from same or previous generation games. I expect they'll at least have Smash 1 style info on each fighter (maybe each actual game element) but beyond that who knows. No trophies or trophy like things for anything not in the actual game.
Does anyone else think that's a trophy next to the wrench in the "Games & More" section? Not sure what else that could represent.

These people on twitter or game forums eat up whatever they have to offer, even if it ends up being bullshit

People like Emily Rogers who still keep saying stuff, really do piss me off. They try so hard to push their own "leaks" which some people actually believe. They remind me of the good ol' NX days or the "Hey guys, Mother 3 is totally coming to the Wii U virtual console! Believe me!"
Good ending: the leaks are real, the roster is complete. now everyone is here. even an unexpected AT is announced.
Normal ending: The direct announces half of what was in the leak, but those left out aren't debunked. there are still reasons to be happy.
Bad ending: the leaks are all wrong. Isaac is revealed to be a new Fire Emblem Stage. Medusa gets in as an echo for Palutena.
