Prediction for tomorrow: In the past two Directs, Sakurai said, "Here's a new fighter," before he detailed Inkling and "We have one more fighter for you," before he described Richter. I've seen more than a few people get hyped for an unrevealed character, only to quickly realize what Sakurai actually meant.
Tomorrow, he'll say something similar but actually reveal a new character out of nowhere.
He did something similar with Ridley too though, which was a new character.
God if Sakurai pulls a fast one and delivers a character NO BIG LEAKER HAS GUESSED I'll be speechless.
Would a character creator more expansive than the mii fighter ever be plausible for Smash Bros? Not quite Soul Calibur Vi's, but closer?
Not if they're able to be played online.

I'm working while the direct is on, and then I have to get ready for a date when I get back.
I'm probably going to be thinking of Smash the whole date. Which is weird because I'm usually thinking of smashing.

if the leak is true, i hope they dont start with the weaker reveals. It would take away from the "oh shit" moment. If it's true, they only really have one or two shots at wowing us.
I'd prefer "is this really him? oh fuck it is Banjo! Does that mean the leak is true? Oh shit it IS true!"
rather than "okay we're getting Shadow and Isaac, sure, so that means Banjo and Geno are in, yay"
Even though I know the contents of the Grinch leak my brain still can't fully process the fact we might be getting characters like Isaac, Geno and Banjo today.
Even if it ended up with the weaker reveals first, because of the conflicting info from "insiders", I'd still be worried about the big requests getting in.
I just hope we have an actual online mode now
