Super Smash Bros. General v16: Everyone is STICKERS!

Incineroar disappointed everyone by being yet another humannoid fire starter in sun and moon. And he is back to disappoint everyone as being the final base roster newcomer. He seems to be really good at disappointing people.
Here is a big thought:
Implementing "Spirits" is very easy and doesn't require a lot of dev time apart from potential evolutions, setting the bonus and making a neat event match. Compare this to the effort of making an Assist trophy, and I simply cant find a reason why being a spirit would lock someone out vs. the existence of AT
Thanks once again for ruining my mind, internet.

Man, the love they put on Luigi this time around is fantastic.
He is so far from Mario now. New Poltergust grab, he has his Mansion series run, new animation spurred about.
Luigi has come a long way. He's his own man now. Proud of him.
Didn't disappoint me, he looks awesome
Also man the more I think about PP the more... I kind of don't like him? I really don't know how to feel. His moveset looks funny and interesting and I'm sure he'll be fun to play but when I think of the roster as a whole it just... doesn't really fit. Bandana Dee is a waddle dee with a hat and a spear but he's a established character so I push for him here and there but PP is just a generic ass enemy. I don't like thinking of gaming icons having a single random enemy just showing up as funny as it would be.
I dunno, I'm way more conflicted on him then I was initially. More positive then negative but it's still kind of frying my brain that they just included a random ass mario enemy as playable.
Wait, fighting angels?
BAYONETTA CONFIRMED— wait
They changed up doc a bit too with the new dair and now side b. Obviously not as much as Luigi but I appreciate the effort.
One thing that bugged me was they changed Wolf's fsmash for the worse. That move was incredible in Brawl.
I am a little annoyed at the moment that you can't buy the DLC bundle separately from the game, and that if you bought the game already, the game plus dlc bundle doesn't get discounted.
Captain K. Rool is King K. Rool. The "brother' thing is from an error in Brawl's trophy info.
Do you guys think we'll get a fire emblem rep as one of the dlc characters? If so who
stop
That Edelgard lady seems like she could have potential, she'd also be from the most recent game!
The thing that disappoints me most about this reveal is that Super Smash Brothers Ultimate appears to only be the definitive entry as far as the traditional couch multiplayer goes. The online multiplayer has already taken a step back from 4 due to the terrible decision to merge casual and competitive modes (and we haven't even found out if they've improved the online multiplayer coding yet), and the single player has been stripped bare. I realize this was probably due to them focusing all their efforts on the core gameplay and the massive roster of characters and stages, but I can't justify a purchase when I don't have people I can regularly play local multiplayer with. And I'm sure not alone.
If they do that It'll most likely be a main character from "3 Houses". If that's the case I hope they're a not a sword user since FE has a lot of cool weapon types they could use
I mean, you join lobbies depending on your settings. People won't be playing competitively with items on.
People were only disappointed with Incineroar when his design was leaked because everyone thought he was going to be another Fire/Fighting type. When he was shown to be Fire/Dark instead, people started to actually like him because his over the top wrestling heel archetype was a fun concept for a Pokemon.
Ignoring the fact that he's "another pokemon", his entire design always had potential for a fun moveset, IMO.
I legit had a dream last night that they announced Waluigi as a character and everyone went nuts, I wasn't sure if it was a dream until now, it'll always be a dream
All jokes aside, the story mode seems pretty great, and I'm definitely excited to play online as well as local multiplayer despite it just being versus other local coop players. I gotta say Incineroar is one of the most disappoint characters they could have added.
BANJO BROS
GENO BROS
MACH RIDER BROS
CHORUS KID BROS
WE'VE STILL GOT A CHANCE
K.ROOL HAS A STICKER.
THEREFORE, CHARACTERS WHO APPEAR AS STICKERS MAY VERY WELL APPEAR LATER ON.
Five slots.
Five slots is all we need to SURVIVE.
WE SHALL PERSEVERE
WE SHALL NEVER SURRENDER
moment of silence for Skull Kid and Shadow, y'all did good.
On another note, the Direct wasn't terrible. ELO for multiplayer doesn't seem to bad. Ken and Incineroar are alright picks.
Screw the Piranha Plant
The K. Rool sticker is for KAPTAIN K. Rool, his pirate persona. Likewise the Wii Fit Trainer is for the "Tree" pose, not the character itself. Sorry
I wonder whos arms Sakurai had to twist for this game. My best guess is Konami?
Honestly my only disappointment of sorts is that a online demo wasn't done. Not a big one and I can imagine why they didn't, but it would've been nice to test the waters and get more online subscribers.
I found decidueye more disappointing for dropping the sweet ass Owl gentleman thing Rowlet/Dartrix had and going for maximum edge instead.
I think Incenaroar is fine.
Very mixed about the direct, what I miss the most is some kind of stage creator. Me and my friends had so much creating the weirdest stages.
Ken was expected, I'm glad he is in. Incineroar looks alright, I don't care for the character but I may like his playstyle. I hated Piranha Plant at first since he just an generic Mario enemy, but he looks like a very fun character. Sucks that Isaac isn't playable, but he is at least back as an AT. Hopefully we get a new Golden Sun track (really sucks I can't create my fake Venus Lighthouse stage anymore).
I disagree. What they're doing in Ultimate is a lot better than what we had in 4. Reminder that in 4, we only had 2 options for online play: 2 minute free for all fuckfests or 1v1, 2 stock, no items, Final Destination. Now we can actually somewhat customize what kind of matches we can have.
It's not perfect, but I much prefer it than only having 2 choices on the opposite ends of each spectrum.
But what if most people in your area want to play with items on? With a system like this, there is no guarantee that you are always going to get to play matches only on gimmick-less stages and without items. This is not how any reasonable matchmaking system works. At the very least, they should let you wait as long as you fucking need to until you're guaranteed to be matched with players with similar tastes. But I doubt that is the direction Nintendo is going to take: more likely, they'll want to ensure the fastest connection to a match possible, which increases the likelihood that you'll be matched with players that want items on and want to play on default Rainbow Road.

I really hope this isnt just a coincidence.
We got a potted plant. If Sakurai deems Isaac or whoever to be good DLC material we'll get them.
I mean, this isn't some niche indie game. It's smash brothers. You're gonna have a shit ton of people near you requesting all sorts and kinds of rule sets, I'm sure you'll be able to find someone wanting the same shit as you. And that's just for launch. Years from now most of the people still playing are probably gonna be serious players as well, so you're likely still gonna be able to find people not wanting item's matches. In addition, we don't know at what point it'll opt to just give up finding someone wanting the same rules and instead pick a nearby player wanting something stupid. Shit may not be that bad in the end.
But ofc I'm only assuming, there's a lot of uncertainty with this system. we'll seeeeeee
