Singleplayer is not exactly stripped bare, especially when compared to Smash 4's.
People are focusing way too much on "they removed for fun and for glory!!" and are ignoring that the new system is way better. You have proper matchmaking for fucks sake and you will not have any issues finding for glory ruleset matches.

I guarantee you that Rex or another character from Xenoblade 2 is gonna be one of the DLC characters. He made it a point to apologize to Xenoblade fans that a character didn't make it in. But stayed completely silent about Issac and Spring Man being assist trophies. So he is either gonna be DLC from the start or he was pushed back from being base game because they ran out of time.
So apparently the Japanese voice actor for Incineroar is also the original Japanese voice of Professor Oak, who passed away a few months ago. According to Sakurai, Incineroar may have been the last thing he ever recorded before dying; he mentioned this in a tweet paying his respects, asking all the Smash fans offer their thoughts and prayers in his memory.
The replies are full of people telling Sakurai he deserves the death threats he's getting for putting stupid shit like Incineroar and Piranha Plant in the game instead of Isaac.
We really don't deserve that man, I'm amazed he keeps coming back to Smash at all at this point. Absolutely no one would blame him if he threw two fingers up and never touched this franchise ever again, yet he keeps actively trying to make each new game bigger and better than the last.

With the amount of reworks for characters and readding all the missing characters from Brawl and 4, I think that alone is worth the purchase.
Some people ought to go plow a field or so for a day, then rethink their entitlement.

the page lists smash, squad strike, tourney, special smash, classic mode, training, mob smash, replays and challenges. unless they are referring to spirits, there's definitely stuff that didn't get shown during past directs
