Spirits is an odd situation, however. I'd keep that hope small and tempered.
I don't even think Spirits/last newcomers is as bad as what aftermath we have to deal with. Now all the insiders are gonna be cocky as all hell and people are gonna go back to hanging on their every word feeding their egos more and more. This means people like Verge won't go away and we will have to deal with a whole year of people believing their baseless predictions.

I feel like there's not enough echos to warrant them having a specific title. When they were revealed I thought a big portion of the roster would get them, just to have more stuff to play with.
Stuff like Dark link, Black Shadow, Medusa, Big Boss, Shadow, or the octalings would have been quite easy to make and would have made mirror matches more fun to watch.
Quite hyped for the plant tho, I love wierd characters ! And Incineroar, as much as I hate his design, looks really fun to play. And he's got a alt that looks like my cat, so it's okay.

I think my only nitpick over the Piranha Plant is wishing it was just Petey Piranha himself, but I'll take it. (Not liking how it looks like Petey is just ported straight from his boss version with the cages, but FSes are supposed to be quick)

Gonna be honest with you my dude, I don't know if I am getting the game anymore.
It's not that im whining over it not having a character I wanted in or whatever, it having a lot of characters is good and I think thats good. The dealbreaker for me is probably Spirits being a watered down adventure mode and the absolutely scummy tactics being employed with the Piranha Plant and the dlc fighters. Having the Plant be a timed exclusive deal is a transparent ploy to get you to buy the game early.
The amount of money I have to sink into Nintendo to get the full experience of the game is absolutely fucking ridiculous, Switch Online is pretty much required, as is the season pass if I want ALL the content the game has.
PLUS, putting the plant behind the exclusivity wall will be fucking disastrous to any comp scene if you can't get him after January, it will absolutely divide the community, especially if the plant is top tier. I love the Piranha Plant, I think he's great. I don't think he should be a timed exclusive.
As it stands, I don't know if this game has earned the price it asks of me if I want all the content it has. And I can't even take my time to decide because of the exclusive plant.
While I'm not a fan of the DLC being announced before the game is even out, what can they use as fighters? All the popular ones beyond Paper Mario and Bandana Waddle Dee are either announced or Assist Trophies.
And they know there is gonna be 5 DLC characters. And they already know who they picked. And they couldn't even throw us a bone for them.

Looks like it's gone. Classic's still confirmed in, at least. Honestly, this looks like it might have less single-player content than even Smash 4 depending on how robust Spirits is, and that's... really not SSE2 after all, is it? Like yeah, we've got Galleom back as a boss, but we got Subspace enemies back in Smash Run, and if there's no actual platforming segments, then it's not really an adventure mode, is it?
Seems like they put all of their resources into the versus stuff this time, if even trophies are out. I'm actually pretty disappointed too, not gonna lie.
There's no rule stopping the team from turning Assist Trophies into fighters. Come on guys, Sakurai put a Piranha Plant in the game.
The people who are disappointing have no clue how much work actually goes into making a game. It's kinda disgusting how they feel like the developers owe them something more than what we're already getting.
When is it ever enough? One week everyone is excited for the newly confirmed characters after that they just want more and more, they're obviously trying their best to make a competent game.
Not even preorder. Just own the game and get the My Nintendo gold coins within the first 3 months of release.
