Super Smash Bros. General v16: Everyone is STICKERS!

Remember
Mewtwo was free a while too, and they failed to explain that well too
Also custom balance is just handicap like what the fuck
Even Spring girl is in a somewhat playable form compared to Spring Man. They threw punches and they threw them hard when we were already down on the ground in pain.
honestly spirit mode went from "oh god this is bad" to "this is actually pretty neat" after the trailer + boss reveals n shit
How can you look at this and say "this game has no single player content"

It lets you set strength on a per character basis, not per player
Suggested use case is "you always use X and are way too good at them, I don't want one person to dominate this session"
FUUUUUUUCKK
I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT THAT
AND THE DLC WILL GO TIL 2022?
THAT'S I CAN'T HANDLE 4 YEARS OF THAT
You can get the plant after january, it stops being free by then.
And, to be honest, only Melee's single player was fullfiling to me. Brawl felt like a huge puddle rather than the ocean it was sold as being, and Smash 4 had pretty much the same issues but without an adventure mode (but, the one in Brawl, I didn't replay, and neither did you). Ultimate has the same issues with Single Player: It tries to be unique and streamlined, but it misses noticeable details.
However, with 74 characters, some stuff becomes a chore if implemented as in the earlier games. And the actual gameplay, AKA the part you keep playing past 2 weeks after release, is improved noticeably, so, fine by me.
Would have enjoyed a proper Stadium mode, with Targets, Platforms and Homerun, as well as a small platformer with Nintendo-based levels, and some 1000 trophies to play with, but, all in all, I'm going to have fun fighting.
Mewtwo was free if you had both versions, not outright free.
Depends on how interesting the actual gameplay is. If we can just imitate all the single-player mode content in Special Smash, you could almost say there's no reason to bother. If there's actual meat to this content here, it could be worthwhile.
Where were you when the Box theory was proven true?
Oh, that's interesting. Makes me wonder if World of Light was pushed back from being Smash 4 DLC.
In a empty desert landscape where they fight....
GOKU CONFIRMED
Now that I think about it, Rhythm Heaven's Wrestler could have been Inceniroar.
Specific-timing based Side-B
Grappler style character
Poses that can be quickly cancelled
Spirits = Event Matches on steroids
I'm actually really freaking excited for that, event matches were hella creative and fun
Thrown out of the World of Light, into the Darkest Timeline
A neat animated background for a map screen doesn't change the fact that opening cinematic and bosses aside, it's literally just "unlock all the fighters in gimmicky Spirits battles" with a unique final boss at the end. It's not an Adventure Mode, not a Melee case anyway. It's more like Subspace Emissary streamlined of stages into straight up battles and leveling with no plot to look forward to. Why are they so allergic to any actual stages?
Honestly, the DLC shit being put on display with a season pass equivalent, Switch Online and the whole "Ken and Incineroar are the last main roster characters" snapped my sails in half and let them sink in the water. I really don't care for Spirits at all, and I don't have hype for this new approach. Smash 4 started this trend of trying to really mix things up in unorthodox ways and it did not pay off, and I was hoping to see that gone here. Christ, they have Smash Run enemies and AI that would've been perfect for this sort of thing, but nope, completely unused!
It's a product, not a charity or a work of art. People have the right to be disappointed and say no thanks after a blah final reveal like we got today.
Can you really call someone entitled if they're not willing to pay $60+ dollars for something they don't think is worth it?
The "buff up your fighter" aspect of single player is not something I dig, and it has been pushed for almost 11 years now.
The entire sticker gimmick is there, so no you can't. There seem to be Boss-battles too, so - no you cant.
New Pichu costume on the Spirits page.

I know it's an item, wish I could remember what it was.
It's a focus sash
Looks like Ultimate's main theme actually has its own title: Lifelight.
Even though Brawl's theme had lyrics, it was still just titled "Super Smash Bros. Brawl Main Theme". Weird that they put so much emphasis on this one; makes me hope there's more to Spirits than meets the eye and the way they showed it off this Direct was merely a ham-handed demonstration to a genuinely good mode.
Which may prevent you from fainting from an enemy attack, but won't protect you from recoil damage.
Man, it's not every day you get to watch the stages of grief unfold over the span of an hour and a half
Well I went through the five stages of grief. Now I just wanna play the game.
Smash Run is fucking dead.
Of all the things not to bring back they left out Smash Run.
Regardless of how things panned out, you've gotta admit that the inside joke of how Guile's assist trophy works is hilarious:
SF2 Guile is infamous for having players just crouch and wait for an opening to use Flash Kick.
also I like how no one is talking about how Little Mac literally got fucking shot into the glass screen during Ken and Inceniroar's reveal.
He literally died of both massive amounts of electricity running through his body but also cut and slashed on every inch.
RIP.
This micro-customisation shit was passable in Kid Icarus because it was linked to the core gameplay and scaled with difficulty.
In almost all applications of this kinda system its incredibly lackluster. Theres no interesting flavour being given by making established characters into powerups in this game. It tastes especially bad to basically be told by Sakurai himself that trophies died for this. Given its similarities to Events, that probably ate shit as well.
As wide as an ocean, as deep as my balls.
