honestly some maps i have some great memories with are achievement_turbo, wacky_races & balloon_race also thanks @Whomobile for the great vids on the maps
achievement_idle_knii, was the first ever custom map I played on
Soldier for the most part plays out mostly the same as he did in QWTF and TFC. The biggest exception to this is that they had grenades and that's about it. You still rocket jumped around the area and bombed people and what not just about the same as they do in TFC. Demoman played out a bit different though. Again excluding frag and marv ( cluster style grenades ), the only other thing going for him was his Detpack. Which, for the most part was only really used to detonate walls to make new ways to go about the level or to detonate objectives. Oddly enough, for how big of a blast radius this weapon had it really wasn't all that useful for killing anyone. For his arsenal I'd say the Grenade Launcher stayed pretty much the same. But the Sticky Launcher back then was a Pipe bomb launcher. The bombs didn't stick to surfaces but rather bounced around like pills. You couldn't charge up shots in order to launch the pills further like you can with the sticky launcher and you could freely detonate the pipe bombs the instant left your launcher, unlike the small delay the ones in TF2 have. It over all was better at closer range combat then the sticky launcher currently is in TF2. I'll toss in scout as an added bonus. But I'd honestly say that Scout was on par with Pyro into being one of the worst classes in TFC. Mostly though was the fact that Medic's for more less could do just about everything Scout could back then, but had better equipement and stats to do it with. They both had conc grenades for getting around. The Medic had more health and better armor. Had the super nailgun over the scouts standard nail gun. Regenerated health, had the medic aids ability ( infecting enemies with a disease ), could heal teammates... The only thing the medic wasn't better over scout honestly was the scout had obvious better movement speed. But even then Medic wasn't that far behind Scout and I believe bunny hoping back then really screwed over speed difference between classes anyway.
TF2 needs to get some god-damn TFC-based weapons already. Scout with a nailgun would be heaven. A Demo with a timed detonator might be a bit unbalanced depending, but it'd still be a fun way to mix up his usual playstyle. I'd love a melee that poisons enemies for Medic. I'd love a Med-kit alternative secondary that, for example, doesn't provide uber, but can give instant healing, that just works like "you carry around a health pack". Medic just needs more options for combat, Crossbow is fun but Syringe is garbage and his only alternatives seem to be goofing around with Hippocrates or Ubersaw chains.
Scout with a nailgun sounds pretty fuckin awful. Ever played on a randomizer server? Not very fun to use an automatic weapon with scout. How would you even make it different than the syringe gun? Giving it higher damage and projectile speed would never make it more fun to use than the scattergun.
Scout with the Nailgun in TFC would be on par with Scout running around with Sniper's SMG as his primary weapon in TF2...
Maybe I just really want an automatic weapon beyond the minigun and smg. they're very satisfying imo
I always liked both the nailgun and large SMG in tf2 classic
On a practical stand point, no. On the other hand, I'd love a hybrid concept of both a projectile and shotgun weapon.
I'm genuinely surprised by some players. A guy was calling himself a bad player because he wasn't doing so good. The team and I told him it's okay because he's learning. After some minutes of tips and advices he ask "hey, can we be friends?". TF2 players can be super wholesome at times.
I'd be neat if there were more Heavy cosmetic besides the Voodoo Cursed Soul that REMOVED the bandolier. In theory it's there for class identification, but Heavy is pretty easy to spot anyway. I really don't like how the stupid bullets clip with so many otherwise great looking cosmetics.
I always called them Crayons... Because that's what they look like to me lol..
Lol, so yesterday, I was on 5Gorge (attack/defend), and the team we were defending against had an insanely good spy. Like, he easily dismantled all four of our engineers singlehandedly, and was way ahead of everyone else on his team in point count. I tried my best as the top scorer on our team, but we inevitably lost. And then it was our turn to attack. I switched to medic, and we tore through the two points even faster than they did - largely because the aformentioned spy main refused to switch to another class, even though our team had four pyros on it at that point. The spy main then proceeded to call his team out for sucking, despite the fact that they might have had a chance if he had done his part as team leader and switched to a class that was actually useful to their current situation (like I did). The best part though? Two of my brothers steam friends were on the server, and I had no idea at the time that they not only knew him but also recognized me. And better yet, they also knew the salty spy main, who apparently has quite a reputation for being an asshole.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfhJNKCM8jg Don't be alarmed from the clickbait title; it actually talks about the way Valve handled the game.
I would love to see Curly Bill's pyrovision mod go official when finished. Might actually get me to use pyrovision sometimes.
By my experience, it happens a lot on late morning (10am-11am) on weekends. Seems new or unexperienced players play at this time. They usually are very very shy when it comes to answer, especially chileans and south americans aren't that eager to share advice), then they began to communicate, say stuff like "Oh! that guy hacked! he stabbed me from the side!" or just share information or jokes. I kinda like talking with them and encouraging them to try stuff, search for videos and so on. At the end of the day, they are the people that keep TF2 alive in terms of playerbase.
TIL there's an IRL version of the Face Full of Festive: You Can Now Get Christmas Fairy Lights For Beards
every time i'm reminded of how little care and attention tf2 gets- competitively especially, but now the rest of the game too- i get really fucking upset playing overwatch is an exercise in frustration, because the game is fundamentally designed around hard countering and a bunch of other shit that doesn't belong in an FPS, meaning games always end up ending euphorically or miserably, with almost no in between. i can't think of a time i've logged off overwatch because "oh, I've had my fill"- every time it's that game's awful fucking design tilting me in a way that tf2 never does, even when I get my ass kicked. there is no multiplayer game out there as fun as tf2, and no competitive experience as rewarding. i just wish someone at valve actually fucking understood that.
BTW guys, shoutout to the game Rift that, if you vaguely remember, was one of many to get TF2 pre-order bonuses, though one of a few to have cross-game content unlocks, as well as 100% new weapons being created for it. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/211506/f1908578-413b-4329-9202-0829fdfe90cd/image.png I mention this because I just checked in on the game today and holy shit it's still active, despite being an MMO. RIFT on Steam Free to play too, huh. Guess if anyone still has that item code from the teleporter achievement, they could use it free of charge now.
it got its own menu button and functionality! silly valve making us believe there would be room for far more of these
Let me delete quotes on Android GARRY I still find it amusing that two of the most useless weapons in the game came from the same promo deal
that image is really nostalgic, man. That used to be my wallpaper for almost a whole year when I was still a freshman in High School, and just getting into TF2 for real.
eh, the volcanic fragment v1 was nice until they patched it having an afterburn that you could not heal away.
Just think, they were originally going to be skins for the Boston Basher and Axtinguisher but someone insisted they be useless instead.
for the longest time people complained that weapon models should not be added as reskins because otherwise those models would go to waste.
I wish the pyro update included more reworks of mediocre pyro weapons. Seeing a viable sharpened volcano fragment would have been pretty sweet.
At this point I just spitefully yearn for every single one of Valve's future projects to fail, and I even anxiously anticipate the end of Steam as a popular platform. Valve quickly went from my favorite developer to my most loathed company in a few short years, and to me, that's a regrettable turn of events.
god you're cool
I'm sorry, am I, as a TF2 fan, supposed to revel in Valve's other projects when they can't even give proper attention to the one I personally care about?
dude I don't give a shit what you think about valve's dumb card game but talking about how you spitefully yearn for the demise of some video game and want to lick relish off your lips makes you sound like a complete and utter weirdo
