TF2 General Chat and Speculation Station V13 - Heavy times

Ah? Well mine works fine. Every now and then it skips a line but it just works. Could it be the anti-spam thing, the one to prevent script kiddies to flood the global chat?
that's a rather very anecdotal statement
So I rarely report people and have not reported anyone for a good ~3 months. Last night I saw a Heavy with unusuals/Australium Minigun + a pocket medic up his ass more or less firing into the enemy spawn with full crits every time someone spawned and the Medic kept deflecting [because they were on his friends list] that "he's just good!"
The Heavy had about 20k kills on his Minigun so he's been at this hacking thing for a while now. I told the enemy team "report and move on" since votekicks failed. Today I got two notifications saying someone I've reported has been matchmaking banned.
Sure he can just go on a new account until the ban wears off, but at the same time he'd lose his strange weapon kills which is really the only thing making him "seem" legit.
We don't have funny TF2 screenshot thread anymore do, wo?

A friend of mine's cosmetic became the Ghost of Facestabs Past when I spectating him. Appropriate.
He's just trying to stick his knife into the Sniper's back sling for safekeeping
Do you people think Smissmas will just be a small patch with a case and some bug fixes, or do you think it will be anything more?
I'd expect some new cosmetics and skins off the workshop, maybe some taunts or maps if we're lucky.
Nothing huge, but a little something.
tbh there probably wont be a Christmas Update just like the last few years
I think 2018 will go out with a whimper and it will prove to be the worst year in TF2 history, presaging a continued downward spiral of declining developer support until the game ultimately fades away.
Hopefully it will be a major update with the Heavy content and a new campaign pass.
The game will never fade away, people still play fucking CS 1.6 and Quake 3. Sure the game balance will not be perfect and there's still hundreds of bugs, but the community for this game is very dedicated.
smissmas won'T be much because HEAVY UPDATE IN NOVEMBER LETS GOOOOO
Any ideas that hint towards it coming in November?
I prepared my backpack for No Update November
CS 1.6 and Quake 3 are not exactly what I would call games that are "alive."
A game does not have to be alive to be enjoyed, until the item servers are shut down at least. TF2 hit over 100K for a tiny Halloween update, I'm sure that caught the attention of the higher ups.
Valve doesn't tease anything unless there's something to tease. Even Jungle Inferno had that "hey there's an update coming eventually, here's some balance changes to get ready for" post, so unless they're pulling a jape, I wouldn't even expect the Heavy Update in 2018 (unless they say something to the contrary between now and New Years). "There's a Heavy Update in the works" is literally all we've known since Meat Your Match, so there's literally no guessing when it'll arrive. It could drop completely unannounced during the Cyber Monday Sale for all we know. Heck, there's technically no proof they've even started working on it; we might not get it for another year. With the way Valve is organized, there's no way of knowing.
They've made it very clear that TF2 isn't a priority for them anymore; for the past half a decade we've been getting less and less and less with every year, and expecting anything more is a one-way street towards disappointment. If the community wasn't so damn enthusiastic, Valve'd have put TF2 in the ground years ago. It's old and not balanced for competitive and rakes in less profit than it used to, which is not the case for Valve's more recent, more profitable titles. TF2 has always been the redheaded step-child. Even when The Orange Box came out, it was "Half-Life 2 is one of the greatest FPSes ever made, Portal is a groundbreaking achievement in game design, and TF2 is fun if you like multiplayer shooters I guess". It was never the favored son of the Valve flock, and while it's frustrating that they're not utilizing such an excellent game (with such an excellent, dedicated fanbase) to its fullest potential, getting angry that they're supporting it less now than they did in the early 2010's is just spitting into the wind at this point.
TF2 is a minor priority for Valve and there's a good chance it'll never be anything more than that ever again. When we finally get our last update, I fully expect the community to pick up the slack through mods, so even after TF2 "dies", it'll still be alive. Literally the only way to kill this game for good is to shut down the servers, and I can't see even Valve doing that, so long as people are still buying keys and using the Marketplace to shift crates around.
The addition of taunts like the tank, that has nothing to do with halloween, in the halloween update, kind of makes me think that we won't be getting anything this month. Why include unrelated taunts in the halloween update when you have a normal major update right around the corner?
I just had a thought with my friend yesterday: What if the TF Team were to make a crate that was like the Bread Boxes in L&W that made you sink in 5 metal to get something from it, like new halloween spells that were optimized for TF2 and the rare ones can be the old ones?
After a discussion I had with Exor the other night, my thinking is the taunts we got for Halloween are scrapped taunts for an update that had been in the works but was scrapped for one reason or another. Based on the fact that Dane saw the tank taunt being worked on during his Valve visit and Nathan said the voice lines were recorded during a session in early 2017, I'd say the taunts were intended for either:
Jungle Inferno (the timing lines up)
The unnamed Heavy update (since it didn't appear in jI or, for whatever reason, Blue Moon)
On the same note, I don't feel like the TF team would make SF the only substantial update we've received this year (in terms of maps/contents), so maybe the leftovers are just stuff they wanted to get out of the way before a main course....but at this point, there's no way of knowing for sure.

holy fucking eyestrain
Is it even possible to make Halloween spells that are optimized for TF2?
I don't know how the spaghetti code of TF2 works so who knows.
gather round the campfire, kids, and let me tell you a tale of vintage team fortress terror...
on a dark, stormy halloween game of koth_cauldron...
there were six players...
two spies, three scouts, and the hapless medic that tended to them...
even as the team filled with heavies and soldiers, the medic came to a horrific realization...
there were three scouts...
...but no cap time!
ooooOOOOOooooo
We dont specifically know if the tank is the one Dane saw ages ago.
Apart from this, these are the Scout's lines. Jungle Inferno did not have any voicelines for any class that isn't the scout in the short. It's entirely realistic that those were recorded ages ago, but I have extreme doubts about the tank one given we haven't had Soldier voicelines for *ages* and it doesnt make sense in my eyes that they'd just get him for a bloody tank.
So either the soldier voicelines are quite literally 4 years old or they recently-ish got the voiceactor gang together for whoknowshwat.
I got my new TFNN finished, how did I do?

Also, we all should say something nice about Dave Riller.
Being the investigative person you are, would you have happened to run into anyone else that has witnessed the bots or anything similar to what I recorded some time ago and made a video about?
If anything I can appreciate the undaunted optimism you have. Apart from the few "Tyler is an ugly idiot " moments I caught in the video I think you've managed to summarize the recent events (or the lack of...) pretty well.
might as well name it "ten reasons why tf2 will ever die: number 4 will shock you!"
