TF2 General Chat and Speculation Station V13 - Heavy times

well what luck i just had a sniper in suijin aim botting right now
Nobody was saying that, like Fluury said.
I think the game is fun. I think Heavy needs the dumb "recoil" mechanic removed entirely, I think Demoknight weapons need a serious overhaul so they aren't awful to use without a grenade or sticky launcher, I think Spy needs buffs, I think Medic needs more weapons, and I think Engineer needs a new weapon or function to make him more engaging to play (something as simple as instant-building during setup time like in MVM), but I still play the game for hours every day, and consider it to be fun. In fact, I don't think there's a single time I've genuinely gotten angry at the game like I do with games like League, Overwatch, Enter the Gungeon, even Rocket League. For a game that I've played for 5k+ hours and almost 8 years, that I very rarely get angry at it to this day is saying something.
I think the problem there is that you're playing League of Legends and Overwatch in the first place; of course TF2 will never be as frustrating as those games, because those games are terrible. That isn't to say, however, that TF2 doesn't have many exasperating components.
Idea that will never be implemented in 1000 solar lifetimes:
The B.A.S.E. Jumper got hugely nerfed when JI rolled out. Prior to that it was brokenly OP in very skilled hands and a goofy toy for everyone else. It has no MvM upgrades. What if it had some that restored it to its pre-nerf glory? An increased air control bar with 2 or 4 increments, and one that allowed redeploying it while in the air? Possibly resistance to explosive jumping damage, similar to the gunboats? I'm sure Valve will get right on this...
it is and i'm happy about it.
i rly love the competitive maps
gotta make sure everywhere is open and wide so scouts and soldiers can roam free to their fullest potential, but god forbid there's even a remotely intimidating position to place a sentry or plant a heavy
I wanna feel unstoppable as a Soldier with Equalizer again.
Valve please at least give it a speed boost on kill.
I agree with Exor. This game is unique on the market despise all these years. Mobility, feedback, mechanics, everything is there for a truly unique game. I understand you had your fair share of moments with the game, but there is still a slimmer of hope. The community, the users, the history of the game. I personally believe this game should not die like this. Without updates, with a community eager to do their best. With a ton of moments and stories awaiting to be experienced.
controversial gaming opinion: TF2 is okay.
how dare you
jaufehsuierfhsefui: Nobody saying "TF2 is x" is actually arguing anything, they're just having fun and trying to lighten the thread's mood by goofing around
Controversial opinion: If we nerf Sniper the price of the keys will lower.
OT: I'm surprised the Dragon's Fury ain't that popular of a weapon. Personally, I love running the thing when I'm feeling good with projectiles, but its really hard to spycheck a dead ringer frenchie.
As someone from Belgium, I can safely say we don't have any kind of weird stereotype (that goes past hur dur waffle & chocolate) that would make a basis for a good character, let alone a character like spy
... ouwch
But yeah, that's more of a (painful) history thing then a character trait
God I remember when that first came out... My friend and I would play Doublecross all night, and it was so easy to just run into the enemy base and team wipe with that thing. Absolutely insane, but what a fun power trip.
THE GOOD OLD DAYS
Nah, yeah totally got that. I mean hunting people in Congo is so passé. These days we just raise em out here in Belgium and set them loose in our backyards. Way more eco-friendly as it cuts on personal travel
the best thing about the equalizer is that it sends ragdolls to whatever opposite wall there may or may not be
all other melees just make people kinda fall over. not this fucking thing
there any way to buff the equalizer while still keeping the damage increase has health decreases stat while it not becoming pre split equalizer?
it's intended that the shovel has no ragdoll push force. the animations aren't really set up in a way that would emit alot of outward force and valve likely took note of it. (old careful valve we talking about).
give it one-shots back, for starters. The damage ramp is still nerfed from forever ago.
Give it near one-shot back, increase the user's movespeed towards enemy depending on how low his health is. Make it a reverse-escape plan like it was intended
Was the Equalizer before the split even that overpowered?
I never remember having any issue with it
You never had any reason to not pick it over the Shovel. But the split failed as there's still no reason to pick the Shovel over the Escape Plan.
Insane utility and existed in a time before the whip was even a twinkle in gabe's eye, so it was the only melee worth taking on non-troll soldiers since the only alternatives were pain train (not useful unless you wanna sit on objectives all day) and half-zatoichi
it got nerfed for the same reason caber got nerfed
melee is viable when you got the speed.
This is typically the case when it comes to Utility melee vs stock.
I think almost every class has a melee that could be considered flat out better than stock.
If Random crits are involved, I dont think theres anything stopping you from doing this with the current Escape Plan.
At this point it's more of a casse of Soldier has another viable melee for utility and almost every other class has since received a ton of utility melees, so it's not seen as much of a problem anymore.
equalizer was this last resort method that took you being in a bleak situation, and lul "equailized" it; gave you speed to close the gap of the weapons range, and increased it's damage to be dangerous. the problem was that people started using it as a getaway tool, which is infiniately more useful, as there will always be a moment where you are low health, and u wuld perfer to disengage somehow; the old equalizer/escape plan offered a no risk escape option.
I feel the equalizer was intended to be an escape option, but not in a flight method, but rather an alternative fight method; a weapon that gave you a second option in close fights where you wouldnt need to worry about splash damage killing yourself, however it came at putting you in a high risk situation; honestly it's only downside was losing a medic if you ran out of ammo while using gunboats or banner, but still that escape method of just ditching a fight was alone too much an direct upgrade; escape plan still is, even if hypothetically it dealt 0 damage, still i direct upgrade.
i always would have perferred it be kept the same as its v1(or v2 when it lost its ability to 1-hit kill), however make it honorbound so you have to commit to attacking and kiling, thus removing it as an escape run away option. just my thoughts tho
I personally think it just needs to disable the speed boost if an enemy is in your crosshair. Like the opposite of the new Equalizer (and yes, I did post this before, in my balance thread). If it's still a bit too powerful, revert it back to "no healing from Medics while equipped", force the Soldier to switch to his primary or secondary.
i think they should give the current equalizer a speed boost on kill just to give it the utility it needs
finish off a close fight with a melee swing and zwoop the fuck out
My friend and I had an amazing last match. There was this guy who got thanked named Big Oof, and my friends, as well as the team we were on made it a big meme. We complimented at every time we could, as well as congratulating him for helping us win the game. We made it the Big Oof Appreciation Station.
