Except Pyros play around objectives like literally everybody else in the game.
Do the Dragon's Fury airblast cooldown activates when you extinguish a teammate?
well if you really wanna fight him do the delayed shot tactic
i mean you can't seriously be implying pyro counters soldier/demo
I know, it’s crazy question, even in our days, but...
If Team Fortress 3 was a thing, what would you expect from it, besides being on brand new Source 2 engine?
Are you trying to say that Pyro doesn't? What do you think the airblast was added for besides extinguishing teammates? Did you play base TF2 at all, before Pyro had airblast? Because I did. Soldiers and Demos only. Maybe a Scout if you were lucky.
A new setting and world, and tweaks to classes like Spy to either make them better balanced or just removing them entirely for some other class that accomplishes similar goals (think Sombra).
Alternatively, the Smash route, where they update the visuals and add heaps of new features, classes, etc, but keep the original characters/design philosophies. Which I guess would be Overwatch if it didn't have any of its MOBA aspects. I really think the game could use a hitscan general offense class ala Soldier 76, or some form of weapon that is just a hitscan auto rifle ala the SMG and Minigun. Maybe make the Demoknight its own class entirely. Maybe a more combat-oriented healer class to serve as a bridge between the strictly support-and-heals Medic and every other Class.
yes. we have been asking to remove the airblast penalty on allies extinguished.
You know what I'd love to see? a bunch of the fan modes made official in TF3. Prophunt, Dodgeball, VSH (presumably in a boss vs boss with team modes like what was speculated on happening during Jungle Inferno, Saxton vs Yeti), just open the floodgates and add the modes. Official support, if done right, would be awesome, and at the very least VSH is easily feasible.
asteroid and cactus canyon
cl_interp getting removed
Naked Fortress mode, where all players are forced to use those naked models that Rebbacus made of the mercs that have the jiggleboned cocks. Dong shots do 10% more damage too.
sacrificing the ability to have decent net settings is not a worthwhile trade for wiping out interp spies
worth mentioning: intentionally laggy interp settings are far, far more disadvantageous than advantageous, and I assure you that most of the spies who're getting stabs on you aren't doing so with interp exploitation. if you have shadowplay or whatever, you can use that to analyze what happened in the encounter- and most of the time, the spy will be outside of your FOV when the stab registers.
Default game settings being more standard for both optimal performance online and general settings ( Fov being defaulted to 90 for instance )
Sniper being reworked into a more mid range marksmen that doesn't rely on the Headshot = instant kill mechanic if they keep stuff like damage fall off. Maybe a semi auto rifle.
Obviously bug fixes from things that plagued TF2
More proper support for Community Servers. Including ways for them to advertise without being as intrusive with MOTD nonsense that we had before Quickplay killed off the majority.
More polished and cleaned Hud
Bind Spam cool down to keep people from clogging up text chat with bind spam.
More Proper tutorials to help new players understand how the game and each of it's nine characters work.
Easily accessible for information outside of tutorials to continue to help that gets updated as the game lives on to keep players learning
Better optimization for computers to run as smooth as humanly possible
If they keep the cases and crates, they need unusuals and stranges tools that can be applied to cosmetics so unboxing one gives the person who unboxed it the ability to pick which he wants to turn strange, unusual or both if they have the tools needed.
Just to name a few for now.
At least make it so that it cant be easily abused and do what its intended to do
Also I can tell if a spy is using interp exploit without records or replays, its not that difficult
On other note it'd be great if TF3 ran alot better if that would ever be a thing
Unfortunately, if TF3 ever becomes a thing, it's unlikely that community servers will even exist
Pyro counter jack shit. Baiting pyros into airblasting so very easy, soldier and demo both have secondary weapons that the pyro can't really do jack shit against, and if push comes to shove both can just leave and pyro doesn't have the mobility to catch up with them.
For some reason I always thought Jungle Inferno would have added an official VSH mode. I mean, a yeti & Saxton hale and they got a voice actor for him? That sound like a great cast for an official saxton hale gamemode. well, first, I preferred the fan-voice of saxton hale, and second, I was disappointed t osee they did not make vsh official. There's lots of potential in the idea, but I guess it would be too far from TF2 to be an official mode.
Remake every single weapon & cosmetic item to keep the economy alive :v

Airblast is also largely luck based at close ranges or against multiple enemies.
Thats when you and the soldier both explode for no reason because the pyro panicked and now everyone’s dead as soon as you turn the corner.
that isn’t fun or interesting gameplay.
What does everyone think of Dane's comp suggestions?
These are all basically no-brainers with the exception of two points:
It is absolutely VITAL that any items acquired via these "contracts" or War Paint drops etc. whatever are untradable, otherwise Competitive would devolve into a mode where people are just farming the new cases, with people throwing left and right, potentially people botting and just being afk, waiting to get a case, and if it was to only be awarded via winning, people cheating. Such a change would singlehandedly ruin it if not for the rewards being entirely useless as economically.

Unsure about this one given some people would just queue with a bot and possibly abuse the system. Small point, really, but still important imo.
I like everything except the contracts. You can't incentivize anything other than winning the game. Just because an action seems teamwork related, like healing people, capping the point, or getting a killstreak, doesn't mean that action is what your team needs right now to maximize their chance of winning the game.
Maybe I have an opportunity to cap second on a 5cp map, but if my team isn't with me I'll just die immediately afterwards, they'll retake second, and be poised to take mid because we're now one down. I capped the point, but it made us less likely to win.
Or maybe I have a 8 player killstreak, and I want to make sure I get it to 10, so I'll play really defensively to ensure I don't die, letting med die or refusing to push as aggressively as we need to.
Or maybe I'm medic and my contract needs me to heal a certain amount. Now I'm incentivized to heal the 20 hp guy currently safe in the back who gets crit heals, even if there's a soldier right on the front lines who needs a buff right now if we're going to push.
No action is always going to be best for your team to ensure they win. Contracts that aren't directly focused on winning games and rounds would encourage bad play in comp. Now contracts which are only "win a game" "win x games" "win a round" "win x rounds" "win x rounds in a row" and "win x games in a row" would be pretty dull, but they're really the only way to implement a comp mode contract system without shooting comp mode in the foot.
his map choices blow, but other than cool I guess but it's what everyone's been saying for years and valve doesn't seem to give one
I think cosmetic rewards are a given. They're basically standard in ranked modes in most games at this point. The fact that TF2 doesn't have them when the team has added community tf2 medals for well over 7 years isn't necessarily surprising (every single TF2 community league medal is made by the league and just need to be distributed), but is nonetheless disappointing.
I agree with the above - leave contracts out of the mode. Contracts are to make casual play more than just practicing your aiming/movement skills and banging your head against a brick wall, which they do. Hell, they do it more successfully than any quest mode in any video game I've ever played.
Fixing the graphical restrictions is also a given. The game is old and outdated, and it needs a general graphics option overhaul - there's no reason FOV still has to be set to way less than is optimal by default.
Map selection is fine, most of my issues with his choices are purely subjective, but since this ranked is different from 6s or highlander, there's no harm in adding more interesting choices.
The class selection screen already does this - you have a visual that tells you what classes are alerady picked. That should be all you need. Blizzard proved with Overwatch that telling players they "need" to pick something to suit their teamcomp doesn't work. People will pick the classes they like playing. Divert focus from trying to fix something that's unfixable, and instead focus on encouraging teamwork. A team with 9 Spies could still theoretically win a match against a normal teamcomp, if everybody on the team is willing. A team with a Medic that doesn't want to heal, a Scout that doesn't want to flank/pick, a Heavy and an Engineer that don't want to defend, and a Demo that doesn't want to babysit isn't going to win anything.
Competitive mode decay - fuck no. Dane must have literally never played a game with that system before. Decay encouraging you to keep playing is garbage, unless it's explicitly only used to keep the top 500-50 plays from just being people who grind/hack to the top and staying there the entire ranked season. Of ot was added, the only response would be players going "fuck, I have to play once this week so I don't decay" after reaching whatever rank they get. If they want to keep playing, they will. There's no reason to force them to keep playing. It's not like the mode would have a dying playerbase if this huge theoretical patch was added anyways, the only reason people don't play the mode is because it's so shitty and half-assed.
Balance weapons is also a given.
I don't see an issue with his final two suggestions.
Unboxed another unusual from the new crate.

two in the span of like, two weeks?
I'm gonna find server hosting somewhere and make a Naked Fortress server now, just because.
Or you could just play Loadout.
That game is dead as fuck and has been for years now. I already permanently removed it from my Steam library.
MMR decay is essential to keep the top ranks competitive.
