Yea, I just recompiled with $origin X Y Z and tweaked some post-decompile fuck-ups Here's default 357, pistol, smg, shotgun, ar2 and crossbow recompiled to be semi-centered: MEGA

Has anyone ever wondered what Barney means when he say's "Looks like you're in the barrel today"? idk if it has any significance, but I think "the barrel" is a slang term security uses for the Test Chamber, due to it's barrel shape.

Yeah, I don´t think it has any deeper meaning/significance than that. It is also a rather neat way to imply that, no, Gordon isn´t always the designated cart-pushing monkey but actually does some science now and then.

The science team also refers to the Test Chamber as "the barrel". It was meant to be a thematic element that's mirrored at the end of the game in the Nihilanth's chamber which is also shaped like a barrel, among other visual connections.

No, there actually IS a meaning to it. It's a reference to a joke. A sailor new sailor embarks on a ship. They're at sea a couple days, and the new sailor tells one of the sea dogs, "Man, it sure is hard being out here without my wife, I haven't had sex in so long!" The sea dog replies, "Don't worry about that, we have a system. Whenever you need to let off some steam, just fuck the hole in that barrel over there." The next morning, the new sailor tells the sea dog, "Wow, you were right about the barrel! I feel great!" The sea dog replies, "Well don't get too comfortable. You're in the barrel today."

Fun fact: this interpretation of the line is referenced in Freemans Mind, where he goes like, "woah, this guys is into some dirty jokes!" This is actually how I interpreted the line all along, since I knew that joke since I was a little kid.

It's about the shape. Barrels are central and frequently recurring element in Xen, and the final levels of the game are all designed in the shape of a giant barrel. This is seen not only in the Nihilanth's chamber but in the maps leading up to it.
