I'm trying to find out what this all means. The monitors in room 3. Obviously meant for surveillance. Could it be where the "mastermind" was observing the entire site, with the cameras found all over the island? I took a closer look at those cameras and it looks like they're all marked with "SC-105" and a strange black and orange symbol. It may be a coincidence, but the orange jumpsuits and cameras remind me of Aperture Science. Is Valve implying that the "Black Site" is a testing facility run by them?
Imagine if there's actually IS an ARG about HL3 inside CSGO, but Valve burnt though all their good will, so now nobody gives a shit
"We're finally ready for Half-Life 3/Episode 3, let's announce it through an ARG with this new CS:GO update, and when people have enough information, we can announce it!" *4 YEARS LATER* "Why is no one looking?"
fuck i don't wanna get my hopes up again https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMXmh4XxZ1s
Don't get them up unless something comes directly from Valve and is pretty blatant.
Well this came from valve and is a pretty blatant reference.
Makes sense why there is a LAB RAT reference in their new twitter banner and the new skin. There is definitely something more to this.
Blatant reference =/= blatant announcement.
Portal 2 was announced via an ARG. It wasn't blatant.
Adam Foster did an ARG for Portal 2, then he went on to do VR stuff. I think this might be something to do with a VR portal reveal (if Adam is still doing VR stuff and wants to dip back into the Portal universe again and if one of the three VR titles ends up being a Portal game).
The only similarity with the 2010 Portal 2 ARG is a single SSTV code. Until we get more (watch the next few Danger Zone updates) I'm not gonna think too hard about it.
Let's not forget Valve's last ARG https://wiki.gamedetectives.net/images/thumb/d/d5/RedHerringBadge.png/400px-RedHerringBadge.png
And every recent ARG styled puzzle from valve has led nowhere. Point is that until something more substantial pops up, you only have yourself to blame when you get excited and then have your hopes dashed.

Game detectives discord has confirmed the portal message is just an easter egg https://i.imgur.com/G0nFvxY.png
well good I don't want a disappointment of a lifetime.
Of course that's something someone would say to not spoil an ARG.
their official social media team has tweeted about it. https://twitter.com/csgo_dev/status/1071929052963852288
that's so awkward for them to validate this. But certainly welcome.
I don't know what I expected, but I'm not in the slightest bit surprised. I did get my hopes up for about 34 seconds, though.

Its getting annoying they do this, They know people look into this shit as if its an ARG, also having other files that looks ARGish in the same update doesn't help.
It's not the CS dev's fault that Half Life fans are upset about a Portal easter egg.
While I think anybody who expected this to go anywhere were deluding themselves pretty hard, I also think it's a bit shitty to include easter eggs in your CS that resemble ARG's, after the company's history of elaborate ARG's leading to game and update announcements.

Ugh, imagine them saying nothing about it and just let people speculate/hope endlessly. Also such an easter egg is just really tonedeaf but that is just classic Valve at this point.

I wanted to hear Gearbox's perspective on Valve stuff for a long time, this is great
I heard about them "splitting ties" between each other but never quite understood why. It's sad that Valve had to "buy time" in order to get the project finished and it's understandable that they were under the thumb of Sierra but one begs to question why they didn't just talk it out with Gearbox and come to some sort of agreement. Randy even said he would have gladly helped Valve, if only they talked to him.
