It took Duke a little over 11 years to get his fat ass out of development hell, but he still managed to pull it off, as dated a character as he was. And while doing so, the devs still offered trailers and screenshots of stuff along that long wait. We haven't seen head or tail of Freeman, Alyx, Barney, or any of them at all in that same time span, in contrast. Maybe some brief leakage of code here or there, but that is it. At this point, until Valve gives me hard proof otherwise, I'm going to just accept what is my own headcanon, as I've posted before: Freeman fell unconscious and died laying in a pool of his own blood at the end of Episode 2. And since you play through the whole series from his viewpoint, that helps make sense as to why there's been no future installments. Game over. The Combine won. Shit ending, IMO. It was a fun ride, but I think it's safe to just move on at this point.
My headcanon is that I don't like HL2, so after HL1 Gordon got recruited into the Super-CIA by the Gman. After being sent back in time to Vietnam by the Gman, Gordon won the war by performing top secret high risk operations and got a reputation as a really really fast guy who blew people up with a crowbar and a shitload of guns. Kinda like Doctor Manhattan but with guns and a crowbar and he doesn't show off his rock hard radioactive dick. Since the horrors of Vietnam, Gordon has become a mute incapable of social interaction. We tried to get an interview with Gordon for our documentary about him back in 2015, but his caretakers said that he's in no state for one. They did offer to tell us that he sits in his room listening to Eve of Destruction by Barry McGuire while staring at the Non La chinstrap he used to strangle Ho Chi Minh.
I agree. There is something about the original's flat lighting that makes it unsettling and eerie. That's the one! Thank you
Yes
They're beautiful. Thanks.
Tripmine Studios posted a new video demonstration of the Gas Cylinder. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cI0pjd00rU
Oh sure, but will you still have Gina's corpse? https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/270069/7eb80a31-a4ed-4257-8acb-5bdeb1731f0b/800px-Female_scientist_dead.jpg
My mod database still progressing fast, Underhell was immensely longer than I remembered it. I swear I spent the last 5 hours of gameplay thinking "this is it, it's the end now!! I'm sure of it!" and then it keeps going. Not that it was boring, it just was really really long. Kudos to them. I'm going to replay the dreaded G-String soon, and while looking at the ModDB page, I couldn't help but notice that the remake is looking so fucking good. https://media.moddb.com/images/members/1/584/583559/profile/murdock_air50049.jpg https://media.moddb.com/images/members/1/584/583559/profile/terror_management_x10007.jpg https://media.moddb.com/images/members/1/584/583559/profile/murdock_air50003.jpg This is INFRA levels of mapping quality. I'm really praying that he/she (it's a single developer) finishes it. Incredible work, whatever you may think of the original (now called "Beta").
G-String is a nice hidden gem. That remake has been in the works for like ever though. The level design of the playable version is pretty... uh... hard to figure out. But it's great. I really like the atmosphere too.
Man, I hope the guy behind Underhell ever gets around to finishing Chapter 2.
This remake is taking the longest time but it's still getting made to this day. The page of the mod gets regular updates, though no release is in sight yet. Pretty certain it's not happening, unfortunately. The creator is now working at New World, the guys behind Day of Infamy and more recently, Insurgency: Sandstorm. So in his own words, Underhell is dead. We'll never know what happened to Jake's wife...
Yea, first he worked on chapter 2, then he decided to remake chapter 0 and 1 in Unreal Engine 4 ( I think you can see at the moddb page the remade models ) and then he joined them. I'm happy for him, since he started to do chapter 1 he showed great dedication to their maps. If Insurgency: Sandstorm sells well once is out of beta I would like them to attempt a game with a plot, he would really shine in it.
https://twitter.com/DuvalMagic/status/1053746997113511936 Pitchford says that's actually Gina canonically.
I know we normally take laidlaws emails as word of god, but can we collectively decide not give randy's tweets the same treatment please.
I don´t know how much of this I should be taken as a joke but personally I do tend to treat the original HL as a seperate entity from the rest of the canon, which opens up a lot of fun interpretations, my favorite being that the whole of HL1 is just Gordon completely snapping at work (GETTING A PHD JUST TO PUSH A CART AROUND I'LL SHOW THEM) and killing everyone and the alien invasion is just his delusions. Note that I do not think that that is the canon storyline just the most fun one and I like to play the game that way. As much as I love HL2+episodes I can never take the callbacks to HL1 seriously. No, Magnusson, I did not ruin your casserole. I ruined the casserole of generic einstein#4. At least Kleiner was actually in the game. Several times!
So I guess that means you may not have the world models then for these three? I was actually poking around with them in Blender and the weapons in the view models are actually complete and I was even trying to get them to replace the retail world models (for my own self) but Blender just keeps slapping me with Traceback errors.
Has Juniez released any other models besides what's on the previous page?
Very upset that Colette has been all but forgotten by time.
No, because he doesn't have most of them anymore. Although, these look like a promising alternative. Lost Squad Weapons Creation Part 2.1 news Lost Squad Weapons Creation Part 2.2 news That is, if they release them...
Kind of shame Juniez doesn't seem to have the rest of the models. I'd love to see more of the HL2 arsenal updated to a more current-gen standard... Not many people seem to be interested in that.
Its nice to see some more activity on this mod. Felt like its been dead since 2012.
I like how they are using crocodile tears as their music for these dev videos. I guess they figured out its the one very good song they have on the soundtrack.
The wooden stock on the tau cannon feels really out of place to me. Everything else looks fine though.
I don't know I like it, it give it that rebel feel, like they just ripped it straight off the buggy. Based on the hud in the lower right hand side of the last image im assuming those are for this project
I have your older ar2, crossbow, 357, rpg, smg, and pistol for some reason. Could hand them back to you if need be.
>tfw your project that's also implementing PBR in Source is using the exact same Stefan Engdahl MP7 model
I can't believe people are putting PBR in Source. You guys are awesome, especially when we all thought this engine's modding community would be dead 5 years ago.
Not even GoldSrc is fully dead, really. The HL modding community is pretty amazing.
Yeah, but at least from 2013-2015 we were living the illusion that Source 2 and L4D3 were right around the corner with an inevitable SDK release for modders to get into. We got Phantom Pain’d.
If it's ok with Juniez, can you also upload them here for everyone else to have?
