I like the stun animations but for death honestly I'd rather see a mix of more subtle death anims and slower/stiffer ragdoll deaths than outright replacing the ragdolls. I like when a ragdoll subtly reacts to a pistol shot or a shotgun blast blows a body up against a wall, wouldn't want to lose that
I think the animations need to be less expressive, I can't imagine the Combine reacting that much to be honest, I mean their most expressive animation is when they get hit by bug bait.
And don't forget the fire dance.
I like the 'kneel down and bleed out' animation though. Maybe I'm wrong though, @VeLlix has some interesting examples up there, and it looks to work fine. I guess the hard part isn't adding it, but making it cancel fluidly when something blocks the animation?
What in the fuck you can rip the mounted turret clean off in HL2: MMOD!
Its possible to mod the MMod? like put high resolution textures mods.
Now you can do the same to the Buggy's Tau cannon, though I'm not sure how you're supposed to get ammo for it.
put it back on the jeep and it recharges
Like others have said, SMOD Standalone is the way to go. Onemanshow recently put out an update to SMOD Redux, which is my go to way to play SMOD. There are also two projects that sprung up at the same time to bring SMOD over to Source 2013. They're making great headway, and it promises a great deal considering mapadds are the meat of SMOD.
Can't get Mmod to work properly, AI won't attack me, and Iron sight function just switches between on and off when hit set to either hold or toggle. Have Half-life 2/ep1-2/lost coast/Update installed, SDK base 2013 SP is set to upcoming. Anyone else or advice?
Ah, that makes sense. Must have to spawn it in for the other games then

My god those sound effects.
Wow, this is still going on? I suppose if Black Mesa: Source can be in development for a decade and eventually come out, there's still hope for this mod too.
hl2 mmod had an update and now my game is broken again and i cant get it to work :|
Go update the singleplayer SDK to the beta [upcoming] branch, see if that works.
it did something. instead of crashing after the valve intro, it just crashes when i try to load a save
You did a fresh install of MMod, right? Because it definitely was a large rework of the format from 1.0 to 1.1, and saves are probably totally incompatible.
You should probably delete your sourcemods/mmod folder every time a patch comes out.
ugh really? thats gonna be annoying since im just trying to just do a playthrough. im already at highway 17
sv_unlockedchapters "anything past the chapter number you want here" unlocks chapters so you don't need to replay or remember map names.
I've never played SMOD before, but it seems like a very popular and iconic mod among the Half-Life community. I've always been told that the mod died from the Steam updates and has never been updated officially since. Can anyone explain to me what the mod is about, the recommended add-ons, and show me a version I can use with the current release of Half-Life 2?
Old saves work, at least mine did, had to put it in the HL2MMOD folder and not the one from HL2 Update, since apparently that''s where saves go? I was on d2_coast_08 i believe, whatever was the one before the blackscreen and loading of previous save.
Everything here looks great but for me I think they should make the Revolver animations use 2 hands.
Some dude from Japan named The Author added a bunch of gameplay mechanics from the Postal series into HL2 and it got really crazy after that. There's a really awesome custom weapon scripting function and the ability to easily add enemies and functions to existing map .bsps through text files called mapadds, so you could customize a CSS map with enemies for example. https://half-life.fandom.com/wiki/SMOD The customization of it made it a really good base for people to edit into various formulas, with the popular examples being SMOD Redux, Tactical, and Outbreak. On the SMOD forums there are still tons of custom content available to rig the game to your liking. Unfortunately it's not being officially supported anymore, as The Author has quit the SMOD 2 project of porting it to the Orange Box engine. There are a few community projects to do so but it's really laborious work.
SMod: Standalone is the one to go with if you just want it to work and not bother with shit, it adds a shitton of new weapons to the campaign, it adds changes to the levels using mapadds, adds bullet time and the all mighty kick which you can record yourself racking up style points with. I'm not sure if standalone keeps the new year map changes and justaway dolls. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJQ0g280ieM
I don’t think anybody’s seen or heard from The SMOD Author in god knows how long. His website’s been gone since like 2012 so I assumed the dream of his return was dead. Meanwhile, here we are in 2019, somehow still trucking along in the Source modding world. Did anyone think we’d still be waiting for Source 2’s SDK 5 years ago?
one of my favorite things about smod was one of the aiming systems you could enable, where your crosshair wasn't locked to the center (and also not visible), but moved with gun as you moved your mouse. so you COULD fire without aiming down the sights somewhat reliably if you had a good eye/feeling of where your crosshair was, but if you needed to make shots count, you'd have to ads imo it was honestly one of the greatest gunplay mechanics i've ever seen in a game. every encounter was just so satisfying when you got good and could hit sick blindfire shots without even having to ads based on feel + general direction of the weapon
It was the Red Orchestra aiming mechanic, freeaim
