Damn, its like he went through the event horizon.
Half also, here’s the latest update.
It certainly seems good, few things here and there that will certainly get on my nerves but thats probably cause I'm a purist
I know i'm kinda late but happy 20th birthday Half-Life.
Black Mesa
I've been looking forward to No Clip's Half-Life documentary for over a week now. It's nice to see that people are commemorating the anniversary somehow. Y'know, seeing as Valve probably won't...
Valve didn't even mention it on the Steam store. No reduced price of free copies of HL1.
I had a brain fart and thought the Icon of Sin's quote was one of the Nihilanth's. That got me thinking, is there any confirmation anywhere that the way he speaks to you in every level is inspired by that? I know this is a pointless question to ask/answer but I like discovering new things in old games (even if they are just new to me).
So is there any way to make Software mode in HL not so laggy/stuttery?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qK1VHwM8bNA&t=7s Was this posted anywhere already? Looks like the noclip doc is going to focus a lot on the community, modding, the impact of half life on devs in the years after the release, less the developpement itself. Makes sense, they often focus on community stuff and cultural impact of games.
Why is this song still be relevant? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdeY1v6jC7Q
Yeah the description says they couldn’t talk to the devs so they’re focusing on the game’s impact
Real shame. Would love to see an interview of original half life devs, looking back at the developpement and the years after that. I guess aknowledging HL as all is still taboo for valve employees. I'm out of the loop, did valve do anything for HL1's 20 years?
i feel it's about time you realize valve's current reason to exist is a warcraft card game
It was a long time ago, but I'm old enough to remember when Half Life 1 redefined the industry, before it fell to the current business models. It hurts to think that the best gaming experiences are, for the most part, behind me now. I suppose that happened to a lot of people in the 80s and 90s though.

Oh yes, Valve didn't drop the price of a game that everyone already has and if they didn't its dirt cheep anyway, must mean the company is dead, and they hate everyone! I wouldn't be surprised if they aren't doing anything because the internet has a collective shit fit over "Half Life 3 confirmed" when they so much as acknowledging the series existence.
Happy Half-Life day fellas. Hope you enjoyed the update from the Boreal Alyph team.

It's a catch-22 one way or another, really. They acknowledge the series, the fanbase goes super batshit for a while for all the wrong reasons. They don't acknowledge it, they're monsters that forgot their roots.
There’s that store page I was promising, mostly on schedule.
so uh why not confirm the game by now Valve actually hasn't said anything about their flagship franchise on its 20th birthday. That really doesn't seem neglectful/apathetic to you?
It does seem apathetic, I’m just saying I don’t see how that automatically transitions into “Dead Company” And honestly don’t mind the “Dead Company” mentality despite my disagreements, I just don’t like having the conversation in the first place. The whole “what the fuck is valve doing?!” Situation is a touchy one, and hits home for a lot of us, because regardless if your on the “Never making another game.” Or the “Good things are right around the corner!” Side of the argument (or anywhere in between) you probably desperately want Valve to keep making those amazing experiences we loved or maybe even frustrated because there is a realistic chance that will never happen again, so I understand stand why people are so passionate about their stance. but I think instead of talking about if games will or will not be made (which admittedly, I have done in my last post) it would be best to cherish them and strive to make new experiences just as good or even better. At least that’s what the HL community has always meant to me... anyway, Happy Birthday Half Life, you crazy bastard
Think about it this way. The people who made these experiences are either gone from the company/retired, moved on to other projects within the company, or are just too old to care about or work on the same thing they did 20 years back. All of these variables (and even ones we can not consider) can and will affect how a third installment would be created (and perceived by the developers and the public). With this in mind, the people who would even attempt to make HL3/EP3 are not the same people who made the original titles. So basically you might as well have modders (or people new to the franchise/Valve) create the next chapter, because the "old guard" no long has the same passion. I'd rather a group of developers make a game like HL3 out of love, rather than a group of developers being forced to finish the game for the sake of finishing the game and clearing up the cliffhanger. Seriously, I'd rather have a cliffhanger to a great franchise, than a disappointing ending.

It was 99c for the 10th anniversary wasn't it? Half-Life itself I mean, not the pack.
if valve didn't have steam they would have gone out of business a decade ago when pc games were stagnant. Their corporate structure is kind of awful for getting anything done and there's been a bit written about employee burnout because of it as well.
It might not come out for a while. https://i.ytimg.com/vi/6qcWrX32zts/maxresdefault.jpg
