Hmm, yeah it's not really showing much commitment if you hire somebody to do it instead of doing it yourself.
what ever happened to that HL2 redux mod, the one that was remodelling all the weapons and giving them new anims? I thought it was meant to release this year but I get the impression it wont be.
The author got caught in the 'realism' loop where he's remaking the animations constantly to make them even slower more realistic than before. The .357 reload animation is 3 hour long now and counting.
Gordon runs out of glue to magically attach his .357 rounds to his hands so you have to watch him fashion a makeshift speed loader out of spare junk in real-time.
He reloads the gun Revolver Ocelot-style, complete with "I love to reload during a battle!" voice lines.
Black Mesa Hazard Course devs anounced Half-Life: Decay remake.
There is facepunch thread Peer Review.

Physics props usually feel pretty nasty when playing Source multiplayer, but this looks pretty good so far.
Whatever happened to the other Decay remakes? I remember there being one based on Black Mesa: Source.
They all died or, in the case of the two for Black Mesa, are trash.
Oh dam is Chris working on this? Those look like the updated version of his arms.
Hazard Team died and refused to release their assets since according to them "it wasn't worth it", their legacy being a Hammer compiler batch that since Compile Pal X came out, it was rendered obsolete.
A real shame, because in some parts it had the same quality as Operation Black Mesa and Guard Duty, if they lasted a bit more they could have joined them.
If more people are interest in this remake mod, I hope they will make new maps based on cut missions via unused voice lines and animations left in Decay's files.
I don't get why they wouldn't want to release the assets. I mean if I created something awesome I'd at least not want it to fall to data rot. But I can understand in a way, just hope they release them eventually.
Aside of some pre-release pics, the node placements and the gordon execution scene recreation, nothing more is known of how these levels looked. But yea is free to dream...
I cleaned up the VHLT source code to make it easier to read. More information here: VHLT source code cleaned up
The Slick voice convinced me for a moment that it was actually Mike Shapiro, jesus.
Did you really think we'd be so sloppy as to actually think that shipping the final product with stock HL2 voice lines would be acceptable? :P
Funny that you mention the original voice lines though. We actually love those lines (especially Colette's lines... she's got some spicy personality). When I first started prototyping the Player Dialogue system, I actually used the original voice files initially. But the quality of the voice lines was so jarringly low that it felt genuinely bad and actively jarring to play with them in the game, so I opted to swap them out for the HL2 Female Citizen voice files as a placeholder instead.
When we're ready to bring voice actors onto the project, one of the first things we'll be doing is recording our own versions of those lines.
Thank god. No offence but I see a lot of these remaster projects where the creators seem to think that "streamlining" stuff like that is favorable to something that had more flavour, even if it would take more effort.
Colette is my wife, please be kind, thank you.
I thought Jessica Cannon was your wife.
Without having the PS2 copy of HL1 handy, are these unused lines available anywhere?
They are also in the Decay port mod.

Looks like HDTF is getting achievements
Yeah, check SteamDB and someone's still working on the dumpster fire.
Still not going to pay for something that's less polished than a lot of free mods.
The two real heroes of Decay are X-8973 and R-4913.
Seriously though playing as Vortigaunts were pretty nice, which there were more opportunities to do that
Two ring fingers, breh.
I made hitmarkes in hl2 for an experiment (no coding involved)

Your post didn't seem to link to anything, but when replying to it I can see the link to Colette_attack0.ogg.
Yeah, I thought it was bloody brilliant when I came across her lines on the PS2 disc. It's clear that early in Decay's development they intended the second character in singleplayer to function like a Barney, and follow you around with a press of the use key (hence having lines for following and waiting) and various lines for attacking enemies and having killed them, just like Barney.
I think it's a real shame that in the final game they just made the second character completely passive, doing nothing except rotating on the spot and shooting, with no dialogue. Playing Decay singleplayer is a miserable experience, as you have the chore of having to run down a corridor, then swap characters and have her run down the same corridor as well, etc.
Having the second character follow you - and laugh maniacally as she guns down aliens and soldiers - would have made Decay an awesome expansion in its own right, with the option to play it 2-player co-op being a nice bonus.
