I think I read that if you turn off the minimap/GPS they give you more detailed directions, but I never tested it.
I played the game with the compass only, but never noticed it outside of a few main missions. Even then, it was simple stuff like "turn left up here" or plain directions like that.
That isn’t true.
Howdy y’all, old time Red Dead Redemption fan and massive procrastinator here, how’s everyone’s experience with the game so far? Super tempted to get it, but naturally have a hesitant trigger finger.
Stranger spoilers
The one armed veteran in Valentine , if you talk to him and are nice to him every time you see him up to the final chapter, it ends on a sweet note
It's fucking great. Get it.
Epilogue stuff: It's really weird doing missions in areas from the first game. One of the bounty missions with Sadie was set in a canyon from another mission from RDR1. It's goes to show how well Rockstar builds memorable worlds too, because I only played RDR1 once quite a few years ago and I barely remember anything from the game, but I still recognised a canyon from it.
Yeehaw, partner.
Another chapter 6 thing
I don’t know what triggers it, but at camp at night you can catch Peterson singing and you can sing along it’s a nice but somber moment
if you mean random people outside of missions, hasn't happened to me yet and I've played maybe 30 hrs.
How many epilogue story missions are there?
10 in part 1 and 11 in part 2.
Wow that's a long epilogue
This game's epilogue is longer than some CoD campaigns
What the fuck? I can't use stagecoaches anymore because it says I'm wanted but I'm clearly not. Also, I've encountered disappearing chunks of the map a second time, and this time it was pretty huge. I feel like my game is slowly breaking. It's weird because I played through the story with very little issues.
Seems like the online part of the game isn't coming till towards the end of this Month. :/
I've got a strange problem where random tables and chairs in my camp are simply not there. People are sitting on nothing.
They don't want to repeat the same mistake as last time when GTA Online launched. Don't really blame them either to be honest.
and isn't it only a Beta as well?
Where'd the best place to find cougars in the early game area? I ran into one south ot Rhodes but it got away.
Yeah it'll still be a public beta.
It took forever for me to find them too, they’re elusive.
I had luck going northwest of Strawberry. You’re in the right place if you run into the trapper there. Walk a little south from his stall, to the river/stream. I saw (and killed) a cougar there at night... it was drinking from the river. If none spawn, usually setting up a campfire and/or sleeping has a chance to reset some spawns.
I know! I loved this small detail so much and I wonder if there are any other NPC's life this I didn't encounter.
So it's been awhile since I've checked the thread out, but checking in now since day 1 or 2 I've made it to the first part of the epilogue and I can happily say this game met my expectations and my hype was really high pre-relrease so I'm glad that Rockstar managed to enthrall me so much in this world. I love Arthur Morgan and the story has been top notch with a cast of amazing characters with stand out favorites like Sadie and of course John. Even the villains are amazing and I don't think I've hated a character as much in fiction as Micah is a long while.
While I personally have no issues with the controls, I'll just say that it plays like a Rockstar game so if you don't like how those games feels Red Dead 2 feels slightly improved but still very similar .
I already probably have 60 hours in this game already and still have more story and parts of the map left to explore. Probably my favorite Rockstar game to date. I hope that the online isn't a micro transaction hellhole, at least to start out. because it'd be really fun to explore this world with friends. Even if it is, this game is worth it on the merits of it's content already available.
Really don't know what GTA VI is going to have to do to impress people, but I'm betting we won't see that till like 2022.
What is the best time in the story to really go exploring the world? Halfway chapter 3 myself but I keep reading people wish they could revert to older world states so kinda scared to continue the story because I don't want to lock out content.
I'd say chapter 3 is a really good place to start exploring.
I hope to god, in online there isn't the horse permadeath that there is in single player, cause you just know ass holes gonna be targeting your horse for their lulz
You won't really lock out much content, but it's more to do with the tone of the rest of the game. Chapter 5 onward has a very different tone to the earlier chapters, and it feels much more laid back at that point in the game.
To be honest I wish I had kept a save from back then in the game to do some exploration.
They're probably only calling it a beta so people won't complain that online was unplayable for the first few days like it was with GTA.
