You just find a tomb in the northeast. There's also the viking throwing ax in the same location.

Don't talk shit about the pirate hat motherfucker
Well I just go through the chapter 6 prison break scene and that was a lot of fun.
Especially since I had a beard and long hair at that point, there was a massive rainstorm, and I was riding a horse named Kaz, so even down to John Marston saying the "what took you so long" line it felt like I accidentally stumbled into Ground Zeroes for a few minutes.
I don't think I really get your problems with the characters and story.
The gang including Arthur doesn't talk back to Dutch because Dutch's been leading them for like 20 years and until Blackwater they've been doing good and had like a really good win rate. He's literally a father figure to many of them, hell, he even calls most of them his sons and shit. They've been putting their trust in him for most of their lives. It's only been like, what? A few weeks? Since he fucked up for the first time, so of course people won't immidiately go "Yeah no fuck you Dutch what are you doing?" when they don't really understand his approach or disagree with something he does. He's got the authority, he's the boss. They've put their lives in his hands all the time. And Molly just doesn't have the balls to properly speak up.
The thing about Arthur talking to other campers about his actions could be explained in a number of ways, but mind that I haven't experienced that conversation when I played the story, so I don't know if it makes any sense. First of all, he's an established character. Couldn't he be referring to things he's done before we take control of him? Arthur states that he's been a killer and a bad man his whole life in a lot in conversations during Stranger missions and such. Another thing could be that he still sees the animals he hunts and the lawmen he kills (even in self defense) as innocent living beings and killing them slowly begins to get to him? Or he could just be referring to all those suicidal rabbits and birds that randomly get trampled under your horse.
Regarding not getting Arthur's character: Have you been reading his journal while playing? If not, you should definitely do so. Really shows how much of a well written character he really is. Especially when it comes to the dept collection and shit, which is something he actually views as being the worst thing he's ever done for the gang or something. It really shows that what we literally see Arthur doing and hear him saying ain't always the same was what is going on in his mind.
I hope you can appreciate the rest of the story because it definitely blew me the fuck away. There's some really good shit coming your way, so don't judge it yet. Still got a long way to go.
I love how the story, with all the themes they could have gone for, is ultimately more about modesty, sympathy and humility. Arthur's growth as a character is genuinely surprising and touching and he feels more human than most other video game characters I got to play with.
I was largely confused by shit going on, conflicting with how I wanted them to react, but I think it's just my personal views of some of this conflicting with how these characters are and what the year is, rather than it being an issue with the game itself, it's just fairly Alien to me.
Also I just started Chapter 6
This is getting heavy, Molly coming back drunk and shouting at Dutch how she loved him but told Milton and the others about the Bank robbery, just when I think she's gonna get knocked out or something, Grimshaw just shoots her with a shotgun, like fucking hell, she shouts out this shit at Dutch because she's pissed off, drunk and in love with him, then Grimshaw just kills her straight up, not only that but then telling the others to burn her fucking body afterwards? I mean if she did tell Milton and them about the Bank robbery and what not she caused some shit but jesus.
Honestly, had this game come out a few months back I'd probably not really care too much about this, like being emotionally invested in the events taking place, but right now in my life, this shit's getting to me a bit, I'm actually taken back by this bit to be honest, stuff earlier was getting to me as it was but this is just pushing me more.
It's just kinda snowballing right now, it's almost difficult to take in.
Ok I'll just go over there and do that mission...
10 side missions, a legendary hunt, a stickup, 2 wild animal attacks and 5 minutes at the barber later...
where was I again?
I feel like I've barely fucking started the game because of how often this happens to me.
I'll play a solid 6+ hour session and feel like I've done nothing at the end of it.
I love how every time you find the KKK in this you end up with slapstick humor if you can keep down the gut reaction of gunning down the racists.
A bunch of them were trying to lift a cross and I called them out, which startled them causing the cross to fall on the idiots, crushing them to death.
Like 0.1% of me wishes for one of the PD resident closet racists to come in here and start arguing on how gunning down KKK for their racism in a videogame is bigotry and the left is the bigger problem.
What's wrong with me?
I really hope Rockstar slows down the time of day transitions in a patch. Reminds me of how unsubtle Horizon: Zero Dawn's transitions were.
So I just completed the bank robbery in valentine but before we set off Strauss collared me during the cutscene and told me that one of his debt collection targets had died since I'd left him for last, at
the end of the mission Arthur said that he had business to do, leading me straight into the collection mission. Now I'm wondering if Strauss has unique dialogue for each debt collection mission if you
don't do them, or if you leave more than one, or if the cutscene changes if you do all of them beforehand. Stuff like this is crazy man, I wonder how much you can miss.
Their grand dragon (klansman wearing black, leader type, I THINK that's what they call their leaders) then tried stabbing me.
Bullets are too good for him, so I stabbed back.
The better one is where they are setting up a cross in the dead of night, initiating a new member by lighting it. Then one of their members catches fire from standing too close to it and everyone flees.
GODDAMN HOODED RATS, I'LL KILL ALL OF YALL
This is a really good explanation of how the system works and how to avoid bounties if you want, for anyone still confused about it.

God I wish you could actually name your custom outfits, bit of a pain trying to remember which is which.
I remember them because they're always in the same order for me.
Everyday duds, crime duds, hot weather, cold weather.
If you create then delete outfits, the numbering can get mixed up (which is especially not helpful since you cant make a few minor changes and then override existing saved outfits.
Kind of bizarre that Rockstar didn't add that given that it's in GTAV.
Was that in Online? Never noticed it before.
Yes, you were allowed up to I think 10 or 12 customized named outfits. I don't remember if it wasn't in single player, it's been years since I played the story.
Probably not, I replayed it right before RDR2 came out and didn't see anything related to custom outfits.
Well at the time of posting. Granted now I killed 40 deputys in the massive shootout so Id understand that reaction now, but the poor reactions were before that.
I'm a bit disappointed in the clothing choices. Or rather, in the lack of patterns. I want to dress in all-black but I have to settle for weird gray-tones at best.
Really? I found it pretty easy to rock all black.
The fuck happened here?

Thought this might be interesting to share along with a couple more facts.

Red Dead Redemption 1 is actually one of the few western-developed games that outsold a Japanese-developed game during its launch week, beating Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded's 71k sales at its launch week with 100k for RDR1. This surge actually made Rockstar double down in advertising for RDR 2 in Japan as well.

It paid off and it actually became once more the top seller in Japan during its launch week, breaking 130k sales beating both console and other game sales domesitcally in Japan.
Japan really likes their cowboys and westerns as much as westerners love samurais and ninjas
Well, I finished the main story. I cried like a baby at the end, that shit was heavy and as prepared as I thought I was it was not enough.
End-game spoiler:
It's a variation but it plays similarly. You get to return to the camp and into a cave for the money, Micah shows up and you fight him with the camp burning down. It ends the same but it's less peaceful compared to the saving John one. There's further variation depending if you have high or low honor.
Haven't seen it myself, but I read that if you go back to camp you fight Micah there and he ends up shooting you in the face while laughing or something. Definitely more shitty than the rather "peaceful" death in the John ending.
