Dead Space 2. Outside of video games the 40k tabletop RPGs, particularly Black Crusade, are a good place to find crazy warp shenanigans.
Jeez, did they really remove the mega-armored warboss? Shucks. At least Orks look competitive as hell now
Isn't he still and index option?
Yeah, any units present in the index but absent from the codex can still be used in their index incarnation; similarly wargear options from the index are still legal to take. Hence why I want Atalan Jackal rough riders.
Get yourself a nice, large wooden table you won't be afraid to cut the fuck out of. Light is important, so get yourself a bunch of lamps (white light), get a tool organizer for bits, and you are good to go.
Even then, you can't really take wargear from the current codex on the model while using the index. I wanted to give my graphzahl conversion the new powerfist relic and whatever else to turn him into a one-man-army The new gunwagons seem nice - I know where to get these toy tanks that are just the size of a battlewagon and as such perfect to use as conversions after a bit of spike-shaped plasticard is applied.
You can still use index wargear even if that unit has a codex entry. The only time you can't use an index option is if there is a codex replacement for it. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/107251/fd84f03c-395b-494a-ab68-b59f28c6dde9/flowchart.jpg
I don't have my codex yet, but from little bits I read, is making a gunline of Gunwagons with Freebootaz/Lootaz a viable option (also featuring Looted Wagons if you feel like being a do it yourselfer)? Because even if it's not the most killy it sounds fun. https://www.amazon.com/BMC-WWII-Gray-German-Tiger/dp/B000ST3QBI/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=army+men+toy+tank&qid=1549871265&s=gateway&sr=8-7 I have another one somewhere that's a Sherman (same size) but the lovely thing about these is that they have the footprint of Battlewagons. Meaning that you can have them function as killcannon wagons or rip off the turret and apply plasticard to turn them into a transport. If anyone has any other "Army men vehicles" that have the same footprint as other Ork vehicles (Trukks, Karts, even something out of scale that can be a battlefortress) then please ping me - I play Blood Axes and I also like to convert toys because I'm a cheap bastard and find having a vehicle squad of anachronistic WW2 tanks to be kinda neat.
weapon relics are always worded as "model with [x], replaces the bearer's [x]" so there's nothing stopping you, index or not
Picked up Mechanicus and I kinda love Scaevola's dry sarcasm, particularly towards Videk's fanaticism.
I'm guessing this is all related to the Blades of Khorne battetome. https://www.warhammer-community.com/2019/02/12/the-rumour-daemon-engine/

Scaevola is a lotta fun but man is he (she?) a real sleazeball

Interesting, those look like Heresy pattern helmets, even though I'm pretty sure they're meant to be standard Mk7. What year is that from? I don't recall seeing it (or any other references to Mk7 armor) in the earliest RT books
Because there aren't any. It's just done in the RT era style.

“Ship barracks” (Tony Ackland, 1980s)
One thin layer of primer and like no sanding later, and I've successfully printed my first 40k related piece of Skost. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/58205/c2d95f1e-fc3f-42c3-a8bf-072208bab72c/20190212_201950~2.jpg
Sent GW an email, yesterday I received a massive envelope with a singular base and a greeting card
Where are you getting that? Google searching the image attributes it to Tony Ackland sometime in the 80s.
Because the earliest standardized Vader helmets were made in the 90s after 2nd edition, and the closest thing to that was a conversion in the RT model making section which is where the design came from in the first place.
The earliest depiction of modern Mk.7 power armor was in 1989 http://www.solegends.com/citrt2/rt4106smseatheagles/Wd112p07DeathEagleSpaceMarinesxx-02.jpg Four years before 2nd edition.
The models you're posting are one-offs particular for that promotion, as stated vader helmets and Aquila design weren't a standardized thing until Index Astartes, so your modern tact is incorrect, the ony p[lace you'd see grill helmets before then were one-offs and open faced conversions.
They weren't one-offs, they were a production miniature, that picture is their entry in the Citadel catalog http://www.solegends.com/citrt2/rt4106smseatheagles/cat1989p0484106deatheaglesx-02.jpg Also that same year GW made "space marines with terminator honours" which also included a modern style helmet http://www.solegends.com/citrt2/rt070145sms/Wd118p76070145SMwithterminatorhonoursx-02.jpg And Librarians (modern helmet on the left) http://www.solegends.com/citrt2/rt070145sms/Wd118p76070145SMLibrariansx-02.jpg Power armor designs at this point weren't really standardized, the beakie design was the most common (and the first to be immortalized in plastic while the rest were stuck with lead) but it was by no means the only design out there.
Fuck me if I don't love the 1e/2e designs of shit. I miss WH40k being a fantasy supplement for Warhammer

In a textbook example of his superb medical practice, the doctor has offered every single Guardsman a free “genetic purity screening”, and has a variety of supplements available for those who do not pass muster. It is recommended you take these immediately! Additionally, you may be issued with a religious pamphlet. While the faith of these hive dwellers is simple, its veneration of the Emperor as a great, many-armed arbiter of justice from beyond the stars is commendable, and you are welcome to join them in prayer.***
