I swear, all I want in this game is for the marines to get points reductions. Looking at the points values for Marines in Kill Team, I'm pretty hopeful for it.
It irritates me how most of the fan art of female tau is so fetishy. Like, the Tau are weird humanoid horse fish bee people, and you completely change them. It's actually fetish art.
Probably because there's little to no sexual dimorphism between Tau males and females. So really any standard Tau fanart can be of either a Tau male or female. You don't notice normal Tau female art because it's identical to Tau male fanart.
Oh, there's female heads in each tau fire warrior box. They basically just have a Y shaped slit instead of an I shaped one.
There hasn't really been any proper worldbuilding on Tau biology besides one source: the book "Xenology". However, it in itself also has some issues. The book is from 2005 - aka really, really old. There's been four editions of tabletop and 13 years of new lore for the Tau since then and now. The only entry for Tau comes from a female of the Ethereal caste - Tau sub-species that seemed like it was inserted by a greater power into the lives of other types of TAu Said entry also depicts the Tau specimen with non-hooved feet - Which is a direct contradiction to their current depiction. There's also the statement about poor eyesight, which Lexicanum defines (without a source) in main Tau article as being more capable of focusing on distant objects rather than close-range stuff. Take from that what you will, I suppose.
That would have been a glaring contradiction even in 2005. They've always had hoofs.
Yet it's there https://i.pinimg.com/originals/ff/44/5f/ff445f506f9d546290cef2c19c3738f5.jpg https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/107118/9ce51bfb-a81d-4724-adb6-691340bc389e/20181118_224421.png However, the next page goes to state (on g. section) that their feet have highly evolved from hooved feet. This would make sense in the context of Ethereals, because they seem like artificially forced into their physical state rather than selective breeding of other Tau castes, but minis still seem to depuct Ethereals with hooves like other Tau. So, it's a mystery.
Heh
Late reply, but I just got a 50% off coupon randomly in Steam for TWW2 if you haven't purchased it yet. If your Steam name is the same as on here I'd be more than willing to give it to you since I already own it.
Having an Imperator Titan wasn't enough, so I made something else that's ridiculous https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1884/703576b8-7d23-42be-b825-31c55dd9d7ce/image.png Will post full pics later
I swear not a month goes by where someone doesn't repost saxophone marine on reddit (which everytime gets worse in quality/compression) to the chorus of a thousand upvotes from people asking "who made this" because there is no source linked by the poster.
Thanks but I was actually asking because a friend already gave me his coupon
Haha no worries, they must have given them to everyone or something
Xeonology is just kind of a weird book in its own right. It also suggests the ethereals were artificially created by an outside force, completely adds and details another xenos race called the Q'orl which are not mentioned in any other 40k material except for one enemy in Dark Heresy, and is also infamous for asserting that Eldar ears are erogenous.
I'm pretty sure it's more written as an in universe piecr of fluff, about how the mechanics sciences. Not like something like Horus Heresy as an fluff narrative.
I wish the Q'Orl and the Rak'Gol would show up more. Could use some more xenos to s[ice up the fluff, orks can only be interesting for so long lol
Finished my second Christmas present, an Ork Kill Blasta. https://i.imgur.com/YLw3A68.jpg More photos can be found here.
And suddenly Ork FAQ and an update to a bunch of Marine faqs. Grapnel launchers got changed to resemble fly in that you can only ignore terrain during the movement phase. The Goff warlord trait is now improves melee weapon AP by 1 whenever you charge, get charged, intervine, in addition to +1A since I guess someone at GW remembered the generic BRB traits existed. Also the people trying to give Meganobz a 1+ save with Loot it! can now fuck off since it is now capped at 2+.
New campaign soon maybe? That or another boxed game release. https://www.warhammer-community.com/2018/11/21/vigilus-101gw-homepage-post-2/ This weekend, at the biggest Open Day we’ve ever had at Warhammer World, we’ll be revealing what else is in store for Vigilus.
God damn, I'd love to see another campaign. Fate of Konor was an absolute blast.
feat. another primaris lieutenant?
Probably 2 more
Thanks for the in-depth reply. I will consider my options as in Sweden both automotive primers of any larger variety and testors dullcote are import items, and at least a few years ago such things were illegal to buy abroad online. So I'll see how I'll solve it :P
Well, it is sale season for most miniature companies so I'll try to maintain a list of the ones I have seen so far in case anyone is looking for Oldhammer, historicals, or GW alternatives. https://eoeorbisuk.com RPE Miniatures and games, The new Ral Partha Europe Online Store Discount code isn't out yet but they hinted it was going to be Friday20 for 20% off https://store.warlordgames.com/ https://footsoreminiatures.com/ Gripping Beast I Plastic Miniatures I SAGA I Jugula I Gripping B.. 25% off plastics, and 30% off SAGA starting warbands https://victoriaminiatures.com/ They have a graphic on Twitter saying 10% off store wide but I cannot see it on the site yet. And some terrain outlets: https://sarissa-precision.com/ Code is BLACK2018 for 10% off https://www.tinywargames.co.uk/ Code is TINYBLACK for 15% off And some ruleset designers: Two Hour Wargames and THW Game Design Discount code is 25off I found this site for Testors in Sweden and the price isn't unreasonable. Maybe try your local garage/autoshop and see if they have a source for primer, or even some cans they may part with. They have some gorgious Tom Meier sculpts at Dark Sword, shame they sound to run a little larger than most minis, I was planning on throwing some in with my Ral Parthas.
Thanks for looking out for me, but tradera is very much a second hand and auction site, so even if i can score this time its not reliable. (this is the only dullcote thingo n the entire site, and it's not the spray version). I'm going to visit the local "old modelling" shop to see what they have in stock. They used to have Testors but they dont any more, accoridng to their website. I've noticed it's not strictly up to date however. Otherwise maybe they just have good tips and alternatives.
I'll add some of my own favorites. Those all seem mainly historical. https://bitsofwar.com/ also known as Kromlech. 20% discount. I love their stuff. http://www.pig-iron-productions.com/ 15% off.
So my adventures at the hobby store (which is closing down end of year, super sad as they're almost a 100 years old by now) was very fruitful. It seems the matte dullcote was banned from sales in sweden (and possibly EU) at some point in the early 10's based on the sheer amount of carcinogens present. These guys did have the clear spray variant and i figure one is as good as the other; either i can do a good matte finish, or i have a good sealant for shading. They also had Tamiyas fine white primer for both plastic and metals so I think I'm set for now on most ends.
Dragsta done! fun model to paint, not so much to assemble. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/208305/cabcd73e-7172-40a6-85f1-a051c0c9c95c/Dragsta_V1.jpg https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/208305/0fc4a22d-be97-4b1b-a553-7342613d95d1/Dragsta_V2.jpg
Oh PIP is still in business? Sweet. Also Puppetswar.eu is now 25% off and Maxmini.eu is 20% off. Blood and Skulls Industry's ebay store will being going 15% off on Monday, and Victoria Miniatures is going to be having an as-of-yet-unspecified sale starting tonight.
Man, Mechanicus: The Video Game™ is really tempting me to pick up an AM force. The main thing that had been holding me back was that I really am not fond of the spindly robot legs on the basic troopers, and my Kriegers already have the greatcoat aesthetic pretty well covered, but then I ran across this kitbash (obv not my work): https://i.imgur.com/bf4K25g.jpg They appear to just be Genestealer Cult Neophyte legs and torsos (with GSC iconography removed), with Vanguard heads, arms, and backpacks. I really like how they look, to me this says 'cyborg shock troops' more than the stock models. Now, it'd suck to have to buy two kits to make 10 guys- but then I remembered that Vanguard and Rangers have different heads and weapons, which works in my favor. After trawling some bits sites, it looks like I could an additional set of Skitarii backpacks, two sets of Neophyte torsos, and two sets of Neophyte legs for about $50, which when added to a single Skitarii infantry box would produce a total of 10 Rangers and 10 Vanguard for about $80-85, which isn't a lot more than just two squads of vanilla Skitarii. So... I'm really tempted, but I think I'll hold off until CA, unless I see some amazing Black Friday deal on the AM Start Collecting box or something.
