Any of yall have pics of your finished armies to share?
Finished armies?
I have pictures of individual/groups of units and sections of my army on the table but not all of it at once...
Ask me again in about 5 years and maybe ill have finished another squad of wraithguard
So Im back on my bullshit after like three years of not touching warhammer I bought Blackstone fortress and dark imperium and a big paint set and brushes and I'm a total plastic whore and oh fuck I cant get the green right on my mantis warriors.
So awhile back I bought some Space Marines to try my hand at the tabletop. I got sidetracked after putting together half of them because I wasn't quite ready to paint them yet but now that the weather is more ageeable to spray on primer I'm picking it back up again. Unfortunately I was so eager to get stuck back in that I shaved a good chunk of plastic off one of the pauldrons while trying to get a mold line. It's hard to tell from most angles but I'm sure when I get around to priming and painting it it will show. Is there an easy way to fix this or should I just paint over it anyway? I've read about using green stuff but I'm honestly not sure if that works or if it's even worth using in this case.
You could try greenstuff, it can take practice to get right tho. Can you replace the pauldron?
If you bought a kit, you should have plenty of extra shoulder pads. It might be a little tricky to take off once glued, but it's doable.
Or, you can try and make it look like some battle damage, a big rent in the ceramite from a claw. Just paint that bit leadbelcher.
Another set of warbikers done, mostly ok to paint lots of overlapping stuff tho.

That's some nice work, Rockfish. You've got a good scheme going with the blue gear and green skin contrasting with the drab bases. The amount of layering on those models looks like it must have taken a while; I don't think I'd have the patience for that.
I just finished a Redemptor Dreadnought, which is the third and last Christmas present I've been working on. Unfortunately I'm not happy with how the plasma incinerator turned out- VGC Gory Red and Bloody Red are both hot garbage and should be avoided if at all possible, being some of the worst-covering reds I've used, with poor consistency to boot. At least the rest of the model turned out okay, and I'm particularly pleased with the zenithal highlighting.

Also, while I had the lightbox out I took the opportunity to take a photo of all the Renegades I've completed so far.

The layering is actually not too bad, two highlights and overloaded glaze of orange for the blue, the metal is mostly just highlighted once. The skin is the most time consuming bit but it's also super fun so its kinda a positive .
Is there a blue wash in there too (on the blue parts)? I can see two layers of edge highlighting but it looks like there's some dark blue shading in there as well.
Yep, I thin down drackenhof and just go wild with it, makes it pretty fast and works out fairly well for orks.
Have you done a step by step picture guide on your orange plasma/glow yet? I remember you did written instructions, but I'd love a visual guide next time you find yourself working on it if you don't mind.
I have not, but sure, I'd be happy to do that.

That warlord trait is almost word-for-word like one I thought up to replace the IFs crappy one they have now. Only mine didn't have the auto morale pass and also required the unit itself not to move.
Also it's good to see the 5th company getting some love.
So uh, rumor has it that grey knights are losing right of banishment and getting regular smite in its place.
Smite on a 4+ with the cast cost not increasing each time its cast
That is giving me flashbacks to the DG player I used to occasionally play against that had fuck tons of psykers hiding behind a wall of poxwalkers, It was not fun. All I had at the time was tau and they would consistently do ~20 mortals a turn and just mow through my forces.
It was pointed out to me that the Deathwatch Dreadnought I painted didn't have the silver arm that is characteristic to Deathwatch, didn't show any previous chapter affiliation (although apparently the fluff is inconsistent on this point with regards to Dreadnoughts). Since the intended recipient is a lore buff I wanted to make sure it's 'correct', and as mentioned before I wanted to add a little more highlighting to the plasma gun. So, I went back to tweak the model a bit.
(I realize I've been posting a lot of photos- if I'm clogging up the thread let me know)

New cover system?

I would guess it is something from one of the new missions, it is possible they change that mechanic but we have to wait and see.
Personally half the reason I come here is to look at the paint jobs people have done. I'll never be able to get into the tabletop 40k since
none of my friends are into it and the local shops are filled with some elitists that don't like to teach. So I read the books, I browse the threads,
admire the work. Keep it up man, proud of you.
Total wishlist speculation: IRL, soft cover is a term used for concealment that makes you harder to see but provides no protection, while hard cover is something that will stop bullets. Maybe soft cover follows the Kill Team rule of -1 to hit, and hard cover follows the current rule of +1 to your save (and maybe, possibly, -1 to hit as well)?
I've long felt that emphasis on cover is something 40K has sorely lacked, so color me excited for this. If GW just adds the range penalty system from KT I'll be thrilled.
Thanks man, I appreciate it. It's not quite the same, but have you looked into the Tabletop Simulator community? Some of my friends and I don't live near one another so we've used TTS to play.
Wait. Table. Top. Simulator?!
