Holy SHIT dunked
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJRSdKE4Ntk That's some crazy dash dancing at the beginning.
Quick question, did anyone ever follow up by checking in person to see if Best Buy did indeed have Smash Ultimate demos on their general kiosks this week?
Just wanna throw this out there, and slightly off topic, but in a attempt to make Kirby even more absurd his Switch game Star Allies is getting a new DLC storyline where he has to go into another dimension and kick everythings ass in it. Will feature gods of that reality no doubt as well. Just... just piling it on there.
he has a wedgie
Man if K. Rool is top 5 tier I'm gonna be mad happy.

A few "but" to this, but feel free to correct me if I am wrong: some of greninja's normals are actually katanas used in quick slashing motions. the lack of stab-like attacks is the result of characters lacking weapons such as daggers (though technically young links's sword are more or less short swords) https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/132767/37c0f41f-391a-4c6f-8580-c20a82e2ed82/image.png to be fair, link doesn't even have shield-based attacks in his own game, unless you take the parry introduced in BoW. but the game does feature shield based attacks if you count fox and falco's. i'm confused here because unless you're ignoring jiggly's Special(you could count mac as well) then there are characters with moves with that property - even DK's or falcon's punch for that purpose. i can't think of any character with such move in a game other than mileena, unless you mean as a normal. characters in smash lack an air dash because almost all of the air mobility is relegated to double jumping tho, and the properties of certain attacks. hacing an actual airdash like the ones in darkstalkers for example seems rather redundant. Kirby's down B. Iceclimbers can freeze players, Inklings's attacks also increase player damage players. although i can see why they rather avoid using debuffs on character attacks. samus was also a stance changer character in brawl under that criteria. then again, the only game i recall with characters able to change stances is Soul Calibur and to an extent, Tekken. You have Rosalina being able to control his lum independiently. and if by control screwing we rule out bayo's witch time as a stun we still have ice climbers's freeze.

Don't ask me how I got this. But this was supposed to be shown during the next direct. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1883/92157613-5c40-4812-9bb2-6dc4fd256ca7/Ultimate-Reveal.mp4
Imagine though, if once the banjo kicked in it went into modern graphics. I think my sexual organs would explode.
I guess since I considered his shuriken weapons that I can give you that, but I really meant actual katanas, rather than katana-shaped water. However, what you said about stab-like attacks necessitating daggers is simply not true. For example, look at how the character in this video moves, this is an actual fighting style that has merit in combat (though of course sped up because it's in fiction), but has no analog in Smash. Plenty of sword styles around stabbing are similarly unrepresented. Fencing sabers can also be used for poking/stabbing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfqjjgXj0RI Yes, I meant as a normal, hence why I said "aerial" and not "special". Such punches are normally low committal and not flashy, unlike, say, Terry Bogard's Burn Knuckle. Plenty of games can have both and it's certainly not redundant when they do. Rivals of Aether utilizes the concept of air dashes combined with mid-air jumps excellently. ROB in Project M has an air dash that is integral to his playstyle, which shows that it can definitely serve a purpose in Smash's setting as a special move. That's only a primary form of attack on For Fun. It is not a significant aspect of the moveset at all. There's no characters that can just cause rock to jut out of the ground, use rocks as weapons that they hold or projectiles, etc. Afterburns do not encompass all debuffs. Freezing is a type of stun and not an afterburn and the other is relatively unrelated. Literally how . . . Project M added the ability for her to swap out several of her moves by using side taunt to switch between Plasma and Ice modes, and Samus has never had anything of the sort in any official Smash. Every notable traditional fighting game series that is still active has had at least one stance character. KOF 2002 had May Lee (Normal and Hero), KOFXI and Garou had Hotaru Futaba (Neutral, Low and Backward), Street Fighter Alpha 2 and Street Fighter IV had Gen (Crane and Mantis), among other series that you stated. Persona/Stands are stance characters taken to their logical extreme, but are considered separate as they play wildly different. (Wild Gunmen is just a summon, there are not multiple options or utilities for it, so it does not usually qualify from a gameplay-standpoint, even though people joke about it often) MvC3 has plenty of these, including Amaterasu and Phoenix Wright. Puppets =/= Duplicates. Think like how Morrigan works in Darkstalkers or the MvC series. I guess with how vague I was about control screw that I will admit that freezes and witch time apply, though I was thinking more along the lines of how the Ramblin' Evil Mushroom works when I wrote it (which to be fair is also generally hated when it's on an actual character's kit). Definitely will concede that one, however.
The only new amiibo are the characters returning from Melee and Brawl, and all the new echos and characters. As far as anyone can tell the amiibo that are getting reprinted are the same as the ones from 4.
https://youtu.be/QWPyggzTAr0 Jesus look at how ridiculos big the blast zone is for Yoshi’s Story N64 Hazardless stage.
Someone did a translation of each of the Classic Modes sets, although only the title is known. Little Mac - 異種格闘戦 / "A Battle of Different Fighting Styles" Bayonetta - 散りゆく翼の鎮魂歌 / "Requiem of Falling Wings" Corrin - 白と黒の狭間で "At the Space Between Black and White" Rosalina - 星々への探訪 / "Searching the Stars" Cloud - 乗り物...? 賞味ないね / "A ride? Not interested." Ken - 燃えるライバル / "Burning Rival" Mega Man - Dr.マリオの謎 / "The Mystery of Dr. Mario" Ike - 漆黒の猛者たち / "Black Warriors" Young Link - ハイラル乱闘! / "Hyrule Brawl!" Jigglypuff - 64オールスターズ / "64 All-Stars" Ganondorf - 終わりの始まり / "The Beginning of the End" Pokemon Trainer - 未来のチャンピオン / "The Future Champion" Wii Fit Trainer - 有酸素乱闘 / "Aerobic Brawl" Inkling - イカした色に染め上げろ / "Stay fresh!" Ridley - 銀河の驚異! スペースパイレーツ / "Wonders of the Galaxy! Space Pirates" Simon - 悪魔城スマブラ / "Akumajou Smash Bros." Richter - ダッシュファイターズ / "Dash Fighters" King K. Rool - ヘビー級のキケンなヤツら / "The Big Game Hunt" Isabelle - 紅23点 / "The 23 Reds" Incineroar - こわもてヒールのプロレスリング / "The Fierce Heel of Pro Wrestling" Ryu - 俺より強いファイターに会いに行く / "I want to find a stronger fighter than myself" Bowser - 因縁の赤いヤツ / "The Red Man of Fate" I had to remember where they said it, but it was at the E3 direct. All amiibo for that fighter will work, even if it's from a different series.
My god. Those cloud platforms really make the stage bigger than it really is.
Here is hoping we at least get new poses, because clashing and the like...
I can't believe Cloud's classic mode is all about him having motion sickness- not only is it named that, I'm pretty sure I saw that the stages were all vehicle based. It's that kind of ingenuity that makes me excited to see what each character's classic mode is
I thought what they did with Ryu in classic mode is really cool. Despite not caring much for the character I can see myself jumping into that early for fun. I hope others get something neat as well.
I wonder what Wario's classic mode will be like.
Probably coin battles if that exists.
Bowser Jr. changes in Ultimate TL;DR: Bowser Jr. got overall buffed. Not nerfed.
When should we expect review-copies to pop up? 2-3 weeks?
It'd be fine if it stopped at the clouds. But why is there like a straggler cloud extending only the right side?
https://twitter.com/transsnake/status/1060355307174412288?s=19 Looks like they gave snake his booty back, god bless
They kept it faithful to the original, I guess. But that cloud was never not annoying. When you played a 4-player battle and your friend would leave the stage so they could just jump up and down, refreshing the cloud's despawn timer...it was "That Kid" behavior. Not sure why they would keep that cloud there at all.
I hope someone makes a APP or a site or something where you can track smash down progress online. Seeing as Nintendo has a less than 0 chance of letting fun modes like that and Squad Strike be played it would be nice to have a knock off one Like just a site where you and a friend can tap characters you've chosen to darken them so you don't forget who got used.
