Didn't people already post this saying it was just the angle?
This truly is the Ultimate Smash Brothers. Godspeed Sakurai.

wario's new da https://i.4cdn.org/v/1541704205947.webm seems pretty damn strong to me. if sakurai blessed us with another kill option outside fart, i'll be the happiest man alive
Lucario got killed by Ness's up+B, not Wario's dash attack
i know, i was just commenting on shoulder bash's future viability in wario's moveset and gameplan
still doesn't look like a kill option at any interesting percentages

A perfect description of what happened after Incinceroar’s announcement.
Final Direct reaction in a nutshell.

Something hit me on the drive back from work today and I gotta ask this thread I don't know the point of using Pichu Ever since melee, knowing Pichu damaged itself with it's moves led me to never think about using that character ever again. Now with them back in Ultimate, I still don't know why you'd choose it over Pikachu. Is it technically stronger? Does the extra speed actually help? Is there a longer AoE due to more electricity? I'm hoping there's more to it than being a joke character and I'm sure there's reasons
I have this feeling that Rex & Pyra might be one of (if not one of the first) DLC characters. Not only were they very requested characters, but the fact that the last direct put an emphasize on the XB2 costumes and spirits that came of as an "apology" make we think that they have a high likelihood, imo.
They made Pichu as a character for more experienced players to pick and intentionally handicap themselves against not-as-experienced players. I believe Sakurai outright stated that in some interview.
As it was in Melee, Pichu will have some aspects that are stronger than Pikachu's. Perhaps not enough to justify the self-harm, but still be good for something. Going by Pikachu's performance in Sm4sh, Pichu will be no slouch.
I thought Pichu was a joke character in Melee.
Eh, I'm not expecting them to be the first DLC, maybe later. I don't know why but my gust tells me we might get another Kirby rep as DLC.
I realize in my old, late 20s age I'm slow to this, but I think I figured out how unlocking works. We know that unlocking characters has been streamlined, all the stages are unlocked from the start, and every character has a special Classic mode for them. So, I think there's two unlocking methods for every character Defeat the character in Classic mode, since every character has a pre-built Classic setup strictly for them nearly every character will be represented at least once, so it will basically cause a chain reaction to unlocking characters the more characters you use. Every map has a designated fighter, play a Vs. match on that map, beat the fighter after the match is done, then unlock them.
It's a joke, but that wouldn't be the worst thing ever, if it's just a fun, optional setting. Look at TF2 with it's Ghost Fort Halloween map, that periodically moves all its players to the center and has them dance off with Merasmus. Shit was hilarious. (Until they broke the damn map, but that's another story)
(This is different from yesterday's video which was about "forgotten" characters) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUnWp8bwWZ4
"Pichu is back after 17 years! Pichu's electric attacks have greater range and do more damage than its other attack types – but they also damage Pichu."
That's part of the "joke" in joke character. Same with Jigglypuff in Smash 64.
but jiggly was massively popular back in that era thanks to the anime giving in a good amount of exposure and protagonism in the earlier days of the show. pichu, more than a joke character is justa tie in.
Pichu was incredibly popular too. I don't get what your point is. They could be the most popular character in the entire game. They were still designed as "joke" characters.
Jigglypuff is clearly a joke character though, why do you think Rest works the way it does and her shield break is lethal? She was always meant to be the Dan Hibiki of Smash though that obviously didn't pan out that way in Melee and Pichu was a bigger joke character.
Wasn't Jigglypuff considered to be cut on Brawl? Considering that it didn't had a role on the SSE along Wolf and T.Link
Yep, from what people have gathered all three were not originally planned to be added into the game but got in in the nick of time, after work on SSE was finished. Kind of like Dark Pit/Lucina/Dr. Mario, but on a grander scale (because none of them are outright clones).
