I'm partly wondering if the delay to include Sonic also helped Wolf/Toon Link/Jigglypuff make it in.
Wolf, Toon Link and Jigglypuff seem to be the last additions to Brawl, which is why they're not integrated into the SSE. They likely finished them in time due to an extension of development caused by securing the rights to Sonic, who was added to the end of SSE because of how late into development he was added. Wolf seems to be the very last addition, as he's the only one without a unique victory theme ID. (All other characters, including Mewtwo and Roy who are not accessible, have a unique victory ID that just frequently ends up routing to the same brstm file. Wolf uses Fox's ID.) Mewtwo, Roy and Dixie Kong were cut partially into their development, with Mewtwo being the last cut based on file instances being the highest for them. Dr. Mario, Toon Zelda and "Toon Sheik" were the only other characters with placeholder filenames, but it can be concluded that no appreciable development started for any of them and that they were just concept names that never went beyond that.
https://www.reddit.com/r/smashbros/comments/9v96ys/characters_that_were_highly_requested_during_the/ I've searched through this reddit thread, and somehow I haven't seen any mention of Master Chief in the comments even though that motherfucker was the one impossible pipe dream character that everyone kept requesting back in the Brawl era.
Man, after all of the spirits that have been spotted, there’s ZERO Final Fantasy spirits from what I seen. I know Square-Enix is stingy but come on.
Juste Belmont's spirit should be attached to the Villager, they both have a passion for interior decoration.
And murderous rampage

People are really good at repeating the Yoshi taxes joke until it's just annoying and unfunny, huh
Yeah but what about rings for Sonic, and I'm pretty sure Megaman uses currency for certain items and/or upgrades in the more recent Megamans
I'm more tired of just seeing these "what if these characters were in real life" or "this is how this character would totally act in this situation" type of tier lists. Sometimes they can be funny but they are usually carry over the same jokes.
I just like the really obscure criteria they come up with for ranking the characters like, "everyone's reaction to seeing a snail" or "everyone's most comparable Journey album".
I think ya'll suffering from Smash Bros withdrawal. Less then a month guys. Hang in there. Help is coming.
Imagine getting this angry at video game memes
oh hey, they fixed wario's buttons on his classic costume (they used to be gold for some reason) https://i.4cdn.org/v/1541788941329.png
It's odd to me because it doesn't even seem like an especially good business decision. Final fantasy has a wealth of characters to choose from, surely featuring them in smash as spirits could drum interest for their respective games and, in turn, the series as a whole. There are probably a bunch of kids who wouldn't know who Kefka, or heck even Sephiroth, was, but would take an interest in the character.
I've heard anecdotes (from lurking ResetEra) that, even internally when working across different departments/games/etc, they have tons of red tape to navigate through for using assets. So, I don't get the impression that it's Square Enix being obstinate about using their assets for Smash in particular per say, but rather it's just them being overly conservative in general to the extent that it even affects themselves internally. If that's true, it sounds like a miracle that this is the same studio that produced Kingdom Hearts
I made one the other day just to test out the website. Please don't hate me https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1883/50ed1f66-e054-43d5-80ee-efab6e640256/1541664434760.png

Serio's Castlevania fighter has you covered.

But I was so excited to play as his echo fighter, Burger King.
Still waiting on that DLC tho https://twitter.com/Wendys/status/1055120182564343809
Happy still has a chance guys! https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/000/803/239/8e8.jpg
the best part is that incineroar has a big the cat alt color
So what do you guys think the chances for more DLC fighters after this set are? There's a bunch of fighting games doing this already separating them by "seasons", plus the Q&A with Furukawa makes it sound like they're going to focus more on DLC for their flagship games.
The new president is rubbing me the wrong way in all honesty
Given the context of how massive Smash Ultimate is just in the base game alone, I'm honestly astonished we're even getting DLC at all. I'm not counting on anything more after the first Fighters Pass but I would be delighted to be proven wrong (even though I'd also like for Sakurai to take a vacation too - he's earned it).
I feel the probability for a 2nd wave is pretty high. The question is will Sakurai stick around for a 2nd wave. A 3rd wave is highly unlikely however.
Yup, I doubt the Switch is getting a second game as well. Breath of the Eild came out nearly two years ago and we still haven't heard anything about additional titles.
Isn't Mewtwo also a big cat?
